Chapter 08 || Waiting For You
"when is yoona coming back?"
aria glances at her brother, curious to hear his answer, for he doesn't seem happy about the question their mother keeps asking him again and again. just a three days ago she had talked to him in front of aria, and she heard the irritation in jimin's voice, making it known for any sensible person that he didn't like them invading in his and his wife's personal life.
taking a deep breath, he puts his mug down on the table after finishing up the coffee and stands up, and puts on the jacket that a lady from their house staff is holding for him. "do his tie neatly." the mother orders her, shaking her head as she walks past jimin, "god knows what your wife is doing back at her parents' place for this long. did she forget she has a husband of her own?"
"stop it, mom. i told you i'm doing okay. she missed her family and it's fine if she wants to see them." jimin sighs, taking the tie from the woman's hand, "i'm leaving now."
"jimin," mrs. park stops him, smiling softly at him as her hands make it to his shoulders, "you never go to work with an upset mind." she tells him, taking the tie from him and drapes it around his neck. with a few neat folds, the fabric is beautifully formed into the professional tie that sits perfectly down his neck everyday. she smiles at her son, fixing the tie one last time and past his chest over the suit jacket gently. "i just don't you to face a problem, son. yoona is your wife and it's her responsibility to make sure that you get your needs met. you already are stressed about work since your father handed over the company to you. now you do need someone to care of you and be there for you at home, right?"
jimin says nothing about it anymore, and steps back, "i'll get going." his hand moves to her mother's side, patting her arm gently to move her aside and walks over to the dining table, ruffling his sister's hair, "bye, ari."
"bye," she mumbles, watching his back until he disappears out of the hall, making her sigh and stand up, ready to go leave as well, which is when her mother stops her.
"you should stay here for the remaining days, aria. you're going to leave the mansion in two months anyway. stay here for the time being, your father and brother will be happy."
"i can come see you and dad, mom. my apartment isn't that far from here."
"i know. but you're the daughter of this family and there's nothing wrong if your father wants you to spend the last few days before the wedding here. you won't be coming here that often once you get married."
not like aria wants to come here. but that's not what concerns her anymore, because she knows jungkook is working on fixing things for both of them so they can be together and happy. jimin already found the love of his life luckily in his wife, and now it's aria's turn to tie knots with the love of her life. taehyung will be heartbroken and the families will be mad, but none of that stands above jungkook and the fact that she gets to stay with him without anyone being a hindrance in their lives.
it's going to be a fresh start that aria knows she needs desperately, especially to get out of this place she has to call her home. nothing about here, other than jimin, is good. maybe she can still be in touch with him even after running away? he wouldn't tell their parents, right? or would he be too mad at her decision that he might never talk to her ever again? who knows what will happen, aria can only pray for a life better than this, with hopefully jungkook in it.
the wedding day is two months and a almost a week away, although she has different plans which means that she might just be leaving within two days as per what jungkook told her last time. so, thinking it that way, she technically doesn't have to stay in the mansion for too long, so she agrees with her mother's request and gives in.
"good, now come sit here. let's talk." the mother asks with a smile and aria obeys, waiting for a lecture that has become a must everytime she meets her mother. "i heard that you've been spending time with taehyung?"
"yeah, he wanted to take me out." she nods subtly.
"that's great. he's such a gentleman, isn't he?" mrs. park smiles. "he's been taking care of your likes and dislikes, so make sure you do that too, okay? don't make him upset. he's going to be your husband, so it will be your responsibility to make sure he's happy. his family will be your family, so treat them like your own. don't be like yoona, if you wanna come home, ask them first. and even when you're here it shouldn't be more than two or three days."
aria looks down, nodding her head at the instructions, which makes the mothr smile, "good, always be the sweet and polite girl we've raised. your father said he doesn't want any complains from your in-laws about your poor anger management. if something isn't your way there, just settle with it instead of making a fuss, okay?"
that makes aria gulp uncomfortably, fiddling with her hands on her lap, but nods again. her mother doesn't shut up yet, adding more to have her mentally wishing for the talk to get over already. "if taehyung troes to kiss you or touch you, let him. you'll be his wife and that's your duty to make sure that he's happy and satisfied. knowing taehyung so far, i have a feeling that he'll ask you before anything first, but don't freak out even if he doesn't. husbands have their rights over their wives' bodies. don't jump at him with a knife because of these small things."
"maeve?" it's her father's voice making her flinch as he walks down the big stairway, securing the watch around his wrist. his eyes land on his wife, who stands up instantly, approaching him with a smile. "where's jimin?"
"he left early. i think he had some important work."
"yeah, he's been quite busy." the man hums, glancing back at the daughter and smiles a little. "mornin' ari,"
"good morning, dad." she smiles, standing beside him as he takes his place on the head of the huge dining table. two of the staff ladies reach up to serve him along with mrs park, only to be stopped by the man.
"aria will serve the meals from now on." he declares, gesturing his hand for his daughter to step forward and do the job instead of her mother and the maids.
"that's actually a good idea. she need to get used to it." the mother chuckles, joining her husband at the table while aria quietly starts to serve the food to them like she's asked to.
"we're meeting up with your in laws today to discuss some things about the wedding. so don't wait up for us." the father says, getting a nod from aria, although most of her attention stays on his and her mother's plate, for she doesn't want them to be mad if she did something wrong. "and maeve, tell jimin to go and bring yoona back now. it's not a good thing for our daughter-in-law to stay at her parents' house for this long."
"yes, dear." mrs park hums with a smile, eyeing aria to get her father's tea, making her gasp with the realisation that she actually forgot it. the father doesn't comment but hide his displeasure, watching his daughter hurrying to make him a cup of tea like her mother does every morning.
"sorry," she mumbles, bringing the steaming tea to her father and places the cup beside his glass of water on the table.
"pay attention to these little details, aria. nobody's gonna tell you what to do at every step in your new family after marriage." the father says, turning to his wife and scoffs, "teach her something. i don't want her to mess up and have the kims thinking that we didn't teach our daughter anything before marrying her off."
"i was just telling her all that." she sighs, glancing at aria, "be attentive aria. your in-laws won't put up with your dumb acts like we have to."
aria looks down, mumbling out soft apology to the parents and carries on with her work until her father is done eating. he and his wife leave soon after, telling aria to utilise the time doing some yoga or taking a spa, while they go discuss her wedding with her in-laws. she heads upstairs to her room, plopping down on the bed and groans into the pillow, hating everything from her parents to taehyung's family, to jungkook taking so much time, and especially her bleeding vagina. the cramps are still there, but better than before. the last two days were hell and her mother couldn't have made it harder with constant nagging and stupid instructions about what and how much aria should be eating.
she craved sweets, which her boyfriend had already stocked her up with, but unfortunately she wasn't in her apartment to eat those precious chocolates and ice creams, and here in this mansion her parents would kill her if they come to know she ate anything that might put up weight on her body. ever since her period started, things have been harder and more annoying, including jimin who just wouldn't stop trying to be sweet. yesterday he kept clinging onto aria for half-an'hour saying that he couldn't leave his sister all grumpy by herself.
she opens her eyes, taking her phone out of the pocket of her dress. her dress has pockets! that is the only good thing in aria's life right now. dialling her boyfriend's number, a pout sits on her lips as she settles the phone against a pillow and rests her chin in her palm, waiting for him to answer. he doesn't answer, making aria sigh in disappointment, assuming that he must be busy or there maybe someone around him. she's about to put the phone away when another call pops up, and it's not jungkook's. in fact, it's his brother.
aria sits up straight, fixing herself a little before answering the video call with a bad mood, still forces up a small smile for taehyung. "hey, beautiful. what are you doing?"
"nothing important. how are you?"
"i'm good. busy thinking about you." he grins, and aria sighs softly, nodding her head. "what happened? are you not feeling well?"
"no, i'm okay."
"you look a bit down today."
her head quickly turns to the side, finding her reflection in the small mirror on her nightstand and fixes her hair, without eve knowing how or why taehyung could've said she looks down. isn't she looking pretty like always? if not, that's going to be a problem. "hey, i mean your health, ari. you look beautiful, but i'm asking if you're sick or something?" he says softly, "look here."
so aria does, unconvinced with his words but takes it with a grian of salt anyway, trying her best to smile for him. "what's wrong?" he asks again, "you can tell me anything, okay? we're gonna marry each other, so we should be comfortable with each other, right? you don't need to hide anything from me or be scared about anything. i promise i'll try my best to understand you and help you out in whatever way i can. i'll take care of you and make sure that you're happy." he smiles softly at her, his eyes showing the sincerity that his words voice out.
aria nods slowly, looking down, still unsure if she should actually tell him about her cramps or not. her mother clearly told her not to do anything embarassing that might make taehyung uncomfortable. periods aren't something all guys understand or enjoy talking about, even girls don't enjoy talking about it given the pain they have to suffer, but a support boyfriend or husband does make the whole time of the month much easier than her curling herself up in the blankets alone. jungkook understands aria and loves and pampers her more while she's on her period, earning the tag of 'best boyfriend' every month from her.
"it's okay if you don't wanna talk about it." taehyung sighs, his smile turning into a saddar one and aria gulps quickly, shaking her head, afraid that he might tell his mother or complain to her own parents that she's hiding stuff from him, not talking to him with a smile. that won't ever be a good thing.
"no, it's just that... i'm having a stomachache. that's all." she says.
"ah, why's that? did you eat something wrong— or have you even eaten?"
"i've eaten. it's not because of food." she nibbles on her lip, watching as taehyung stares at her through the screen. his eyes widening suddenly with realisation and aria's face heats up.
"is it your period?"
"uh yes," she nods subtly, wanting to hide herself due to embarassment. taehyung is probably feeling weird about it and he might be pissed with her for bringing up these feminine issues in the conversation with him. but wasn't he the one who insisted on knowing? "i'm sorry, i didn't mean to—"
"you apologize a lot, don't you?" he chuckles, "relax, tiger. what are you even being sorry for? getting your period? isn't it a good thing that you got it, or else it would be bit of a problem." he jokes, getting an urgent look from aria as she stares at him with her head tilted. "what?"
"nothing... you don't feel weird about it..?"
"no, why would i? it's a normal thing, isn't it? do you feel weird."
"well, a little bit." she admits. "it's embarrassing."
"i don't think so. imagine half of the world, which is women, being embarrassed of their cycle, that would be so messed up."
"yeah, but it's gross we don't have to talk about it."
taehyung laughs at that, "alright, are you getting cramps? is it hurting a lot?"
"not a lot. but yeah, it hurts." she nods, much relaxed with him now, for it reminds her of jungkook how he's always understanding about menstruation and helps aria calm her nerves down, because she's cranky half of the day during this time.
"eat something sweet? i've heard chocolates and stuff like that helps."
"mm'no, i can't eat those." she scrunches up her face.
"why?"
"i'm trying not to put on weight for the wedding."
"really?" taehyung arches up a brow, "shit, i'm not doing anything like that. should i start a diet today?"
"not really. you don't need it."
"and you think you do?"
"yeah, i need to fit in my dress and look good."
"that's not fair. i deserve to look good too. it's my wedding as well, miss park." he huffs, making aria smile as she breaks into a small chuckle, which also has taehyung smiling softly. "although you look gorgeous all the time, but there's nothing that can compare to this smile of yours."
that sounds straight out of a movie, and something that jungkook would say to her after he makes her smile. aria's gaze lowers on its own, the smile that taehyung is falling for disappearing and what's left behind it remnants of it's uncertain version, nodding her head slowly as she mumbles him a thank-you. he probably doesn't notice, because right then his attention is diverted to something in his room followed by another voice that makes aria want to listen in on their conversation just to hear her man's voice.
"who's it?" she asks, wondering if she's even supposed to ask that or not. but takes the risk for she knows it's jungkook with taehyung right now.
"who's it?" jungkook's voice repeats after, but it's clear that he's just messing around because the next moment he leans over his brother with a smile, "aria," the way he says her name itself makes her want to kiss him. she doesn't even hide her smile, although restrains herself from saying anything that might make taehyung suspicious.
"hi, jungkook." she gulps, tugging a loose strand of hair behind her ear, knowing that taehyung might be distracted with whatever jungkook came to his room for, but her boyfriend is totally focused on her.
"how are you doing?" he asks softly.
"i'm good. what about you?"
"i'm perfect." he says, "why are you not looking here? i'm on your screen, aren't i?" he mutters teasingly, although taehyung laughs, thinking the brother was directing his words towards him, for his fiancé is too shy to even look at her brother-in-law.
"she's a little shy, kook. let her take her time with you." taehyung says.
"oh, shy, i see." aria wants to glare at him, but is forced to just give an even more shy smile, all for taehyung is there. yet jungkook being sneaky and making obvious comments in that teasing tone of his, turns aria into a giddy school girl, clutching on her phone tightly and only sitting quietly when on in the inside she wants to ask jungkook to sneak into her room and probably fuck her.
jungkook most certainly knows it too, and that's why he doesn't hold himself back from leaning closer, sending a winking kissy face towards her when his brother wasn't looking, leaving aria to smile to herself. "uhm, i guess i'll go now. you guys must be busy." she says quickly, clearing her throat.
"i'm not." jungkook grins, nudging his brother. "tell her that she can keep talking to me."
"brat." taehyung smacks the younger, shaking his head, before facing aria on the phone again. "our parents are meeting up today. so, if you want we can hangout for some time."
"can i join?" jungkook butts in. "aria, do you mind if i join you guys?"
"no," she shakes her head with a smile. "it'd be great to have your company, in fact. right taehyung?"
"yeah, if he really wants to join us." taehyung rolls his eyes jokingly, which earns him a rough push on the shoulder by jungkook, making him burts out laughing.
"alright then, we'll pick you up by five." jungkook says while taehyung is still out of frame and mouths, 'wear that white dress'. aria frowns for a second until it hist her which dress he's referring too, and nods quickly. "okay, i'm off now. here, take your phone and your fiancé." jungkook says, handing taehyung's phone back to him as he leaves him alone.
"this guy's too much sometimes." taehyung chuckles. "i think today you both can get to know each other more? he's such a spoiled boy, ari. i already apologize for him." he laughs, joking about his younger brother.
"no no, please don't. he's nice. i like him." she says with a sincere smile.
