Dumfries House, Cumnock

After Jack had got out the Presidential limosuine, he was proud to show off his wife. She was wearing her famous yellow suit, that she wore to Paris. She only found it appropriate, as it would match the restored Georgian decor the house boasted. 

The First Couple were greeted by people funding the restoration. Charlotte Rostek, Sir Hugh Robert and Charles Adam, a descendant of the house's main architect Robert Adam. 

Together, the trio lead the First Family to the steps of the main entrance. Before entering, the five posed for photographs that would be published worldwide. Then they were swept inside. And it felt like they had stepped back 200 years in history.

The three main funders of the restoration took the First Couple through the state and public rooms of the house. Out of the two, Jack loved the history, Jackie loved the designs. The furniture patterns and colours were pastel colours with floral prints. Yellow and blue sofas in the drawing rooms were upholstered the same way as the pink cushions on the Chippendale chairs in the dining room. 

The bedrooms were equally as grand, and Jackie adored the style. 

After the tour, they sat down to tea in the Yellow Drawing Room. "It's a gorgeous place. I think the kids would love it here" Jack said to Miss Rostek, the only member of the funding trio to stay behind. 

"I can understand. A lot of children find a way into the grounds. There's flowing rivers and streams and woods to play and swim in" Miss Rostek made the house sound grander than it actually was. 

"It's rare if you can work Chippendale into a room" Jackie commented on the furniture before she and Miss Rostek got into a large discussion about famous restorations, designs and architecture. 

Around 3pm, the Kennedys left before heading back to Culzean.

Jackie sat on the bed and looked around the room. Jack had his tie off and was settling down for a nap. 

"I want to decorate this whole place" Jackie joked before lying down beside her husband. "You'll make California go broke doing up the White House and this whole apartment" Jack added, laughing. After a gorgeous day, with the glorious sun and a glorious house; the First Couple settled down for some much needed rest.
