33: Breaking the delusion
"Tell me what do you want from that castle?" I asked her again.
It was a question that was simple to answer if you were honest, but Wye Fye's tongue was darker than a jerking cow's manure. Her stench was far greater and mightier than someone's morning breath. She was a marvelous existence favored by no one. She was an abstract art that no one would ever understand for her existence was beyond anyone's comprehension.
If you ever meet her as a stranger, the first question that would pass your mind would be: "Why?" The astonishment would leave you speechless. It would leave you shaken to your very core.
"Stop with the questions and walk!" she barked.
"You do know that if I die, I become one of them don't you?"
Wye Fye released a scoff before leering at me. "Oh I won't kill you yet sweetie. I have better plans in stored for you. But don't worry, we'll get there. Once I end your life Sevor won't have a reason to leave me."
Can you tell me an even greater woman existing in the same timeline as her? She was on her own league. Lettice cannot even compare.
"You don't know that. The world provides us many reasons. Maybe one day, Sevor will trip on a rock, hit his head on a bigger rock and fall on the biggest rock in the area."
"I'll severe your tongue if you don't shut up," She warned and yanked me up on my feet.
How rude of her. My tongue had a sacred duty to smear her name with much glorious slanders. If my tongue cannot fulfill such duties, it had no purpose to be attached to me.
"Ryota take us to that castle and the rest of you brats; don't even think of waking up the twins! If they find out about this, I will personally kick you out of our family. Wakarimasu ka? (Do you understand?)"
When no one replied to her demand, Wye Fye repeated her question. "Do you understand?!"
"Please answer her; everyone needs moral support. Besides, desperate people like her would create even messier situations. Let us be the good people and swallow our pride for her head to grow even further," I deadpanned.
"Ye-yes," The crowd of young ones answered hesitantly.
Ryota transformed into a green mossy dragon that was smaller compared to Sevor and Slade. Wye Fye pushed me forward, making me step on my injured ankle and causing me to lose balance.
Buck was biting his bottom lip, trying as hard as he can not to cry. I nodded at him to assure him that I will be alright and he looked away bearing sadness and guilt.
I climbed up on the dragon's back and Wye Fye followed with her bow and arrows intact. Ryota took a step back and then spread his wings out before flapping them down and hurling us up above the ground. Wye Fye cussed under her breath as we proceeded towards the castle. It wasn't something that I found surprising about her and it was actually predictable when she pushed me off.
"Oh no!" Wye Fye faked concern and panic. She was reaching down but she never did ask Ryota to fetch me from falling into my death.
"Brother!" the fairy children called out as I saw them rapidly soaring to my rescue.
They worked together to keep my body from hitting the ground and I was gently placed on the floor. Wye Fye leaped down from Ryota's back once they returned to ground level, and crossed her hands over her chest as she looked at the enraged Sevor with unsophisticated innocence.
"What where you doing? Why did you push him Wye Fye?" Sevor questioned in disbelief.
"I'm sorry my love. It was just that Lucian and I were going to the castle. He agreed to come with me but then he changed his mind and suddenly threatened me. I was so scared! I didn't know what to do! Please forgive me!" she sweetly begged.
That was horrible acting. I must look away before she could get even worse.
"I must give an applause to your amazing theatrics , however; how can you explain about the wound on my ankle then? I supposed I just tripped on one of your arrows."
Wye Fye turned around and glared at me.
"You did that to yourself! You stole my arrow and stabbed your ankle so that you can gain pity from everyone, especially Sevor!"
Once again, I was left speechless. I can never escape her observant eyes. I should have stabbed myself in a more secluded place.
Sometimes I wish I can freely turn into a catastrophe so that I can make her wither away.
"I shouldn't be talking but this girl is a stain to this world. She is a bad seed. She is a headache to both the living and the dead," a woman spoke in my head.
"Hush darling, we shouldn't talk," a man lightly scolded.
Multiple "Shhhs" followed after that. I did agree with that woman though. We can be great friends.
"Is that true?" Sevor asked.
I can't tell who was dumber in their relationship but perhaps it was Sevor for he was turning a blind eye to this.
Wye Fye decided to become my spokesperson for she was the best person to perform the job.
"Yes! How can I lie to you?"
Her whole being was a lie.
"I wasn't talking to you Wye Fye. Be quiet!" He snarled.
"If I said that it wasn't true, would you even believe me?" I questioned him back. Sevor pursed his lips and just then I noticed how Wye Fye's eyes flashed red causing Sevor's eyes to glimmer in response.
"Why would I even want to gain pity from you? You are insignificant to me. I was going to leave after purifying the land but your beloved shot an arrow to my ankle. What a kind woman you have here. I am sure you will have horrible children in the future, best of luck."
"Liar!" She snarled.
She charged towards me and raised her hand only for her to drop it as she let out a loud screech. A small growl came from a small wolf and it quickly brought delight to my heart.
"Buck," I murmured.
"Buck let her go!" Sevor ordered.
Wye Fye was shaking the little werewolf off but the creature had his teeth sunken down deeply into her ankle.
"Buck, please save yourself from being infected by her bloodline," I stated calmly and placed my hands on him.
Buck released her and I lifted him up, hugging him against my chest. Wye Fye was prepared to shoot at us at any given moment but the children tackled her down and one of them stole her weapon.
Sevor was ready to intervene but a sweet scent leaked out from my own form, causing him to freeze in place. Giggles arose in my mind and I questioned my own scent and the man's exaggerated reaction to it. It must be the carrots.
Sevor held his head and shut his eyes tightly. My eyes caught the glowing bite mark on his neck which dragged out a foreign feeling in my chest. It was something similar to 'like' but more powerful, more aggressive, and it caused an excessive itch to my gums.
Wye Fye kept on barking demands and orders towards Sevor who was spacing out and was lost in his thoughts. I set Buck down to the ground and my feet carried me towards him with my eyes not leaving the sight of his neck carrying a mark of someone else's.
He looked at me with his eyes clouded with desire and I tilted his head, exposing the mark that did not come from me.
"Stay away from him! Don't you touch that mark!" Wye Fye hysterically shouted. "He's mine! Sevor is mine!"
My lips curled and my finger traced the unsightly blemish left on his skin. My body felt like it was being enveloped by a coffin of ice while my insides were burning with blazing heat coming from a storm of intense feelings.
"Who do you belong to?" I whispered. My voice was laced with an echo as I saw his skin raise with goosebumps.
"I belong to Wye Fye...no one else," Sevor responded as if it was an automated answer created for him for someone else's satisfaction.
My heart became heavier as these feelings grew with burden.
"You don't want me?" I asked him.
Sevor grimaced and bent forward as if he was fighting the urge to inhale the scent I was giving off. He gripped on my shoulders tightly and his eyes glimmered red.
"I love her..." He panted out.
He inched his nose towards my neck but turned away with gritted teeth.
"Wh-why do you smell so good?"
"Sevor! Sevor! Don't let him fool you. He's trying to take you away from me! Don't you remember? Don't you remember the day you confessed to me?" Wye Fye asked in clear desperation.
"Who do you belong to?" I asked him again. "Give me the wrong answer and you will never see me again."
Sevor trembled and his knees gave out. He grasped my wrists and leaned his head against my stomach.
"No... don't leave. Don't leave. I just... I'm confused. I know I love her. I know it for a long time."
"So you're telling me that you still belong with her?" I asked. I turned away from him once he fell silent.
He already gave his answer so despite this itch in my gums and the bothersome pounding in my chest, I shall draw the line.
Why did I even ask where his heart was? Why did that mark leave a sour taste in my mouth? Why did I exert such effort for a man that I did not give importance to?
Sevor grabbed my elbow and pulled me back.
"I don't know...I don't know anymore," he told me. "Why... you're my mate aren't you? Why...why are you asking who I belong to?"
My chest lightened and I began to think clearly. The overwhelming emotions that were trying to conquer me started to vanish and I turned to him.
"You belong to Wye Fye don't you?" I asked him again.
Bewilderment and shock were written all over his face.
"Who is that?"
The bite mark glowed again and Sevor winced and held his head.
"Wye Fye..." He groaned. "Yes I do love her...Wait who is she again?"
Ah...
Were those bothersome feelings caused by my instincts?
I sauntered closer towards Sevor and ran my nose against his neck before biting down on the spot where I was aiming for from the start.
Sevor grasped my arms and caressed my shoulders while he granted me further access to his neck. His blood entered my mouth, carrying the taste of sweet grapes. He groaned with gratification and sighed in complete relief.
Wye Fye was bawling frantically while the children held her thrashing body. Sevor knelt and had a dazed look of contentment on his face. I wiped the blood dripping down my lips as my chest was finally at ease.
I didn't know where that sudden urge to bite him came from but it both did us a favor.
"I just had a nightmare of having a fight with my twin..." He murmured. "And the worst part is because I sided with this woman," he spoke with much skepticism in his tone.
He'd be surprised on how true nightmares can be.
"Could it be that the woman who you are referring to is the same woman who is currently being persecuted by those youngsters?" I asked him.
Sevor raised his head and glanced at the background of our own situation. His face grew pale and he appeared to be sweating profusely.
"If my ancestors could see me now...they'd wish they killed my mother to have saved me from this humiliation."
"It's no use lurking in the past," I told him before glancing sharply at the floating castle. "Now that you seem to be more cooperative and less delusional, can you do me a favor?" I asked him.
Sevor rose with much willingness. "I'd do anything for you."
If all irrationality can be cured with a bite; I'd start honing my fangs.
"I am flattered," I responded. "Let's grant the wish of your lover; take us to that castle."
"Sevor! My love!" Wye Fye mewled.
I grew a carrot on my palms and pointed the sharpened edge to her direction.
"Do not test me; this carrot can do many things beyond your feeble imagination," I threatened her monotonously.
Yes be afraid, be very afraid.
