10. Chapter Ten

Over the past six weeks, a noticeable shift had occurred in the Kim's kingdom. The land had a calm, peaceful vibe while still exuding a formidable aura of authority that had been impossible to overlook. As one strolled through the kingdom, it became clear that a transformation had occurred. A calm and peaceful ambiance had replaced the previously intense and chaotic atmosphere. Nevertheless, the fundamental power dynamic persisted, and it was evident that the kingdom's most recent ruler had an even firmer grip on authority.

Namjoon was a witness to this and was struck by the commanding presence that Taehyung exuded as they walked through the crowd of Alphas. He couldn't help but notice how the Alphas respectfully lowered their heads in admiration as Taehyung passed by.

Taehyung's mere presence commanded attention. Given his position as king, it was expected that people would bow before him. Yet, an unmistakable presence surrounded him, making it difficult to ignore. Namjoon also picked up on this; it wasn't just a hunch he had. It was something that everyone could sense. Taehyung had a way of making his presence known even before he stepped into a room.

Namjoon's feelings had been mixed as he observed the noticeable shift in Taehyung's presence. As this obvious change confused him, he couldn't shake off the growing sense of unease, fearing the unimaginable possibilities behind this change.

As the door shut behind them, Taehyung and Namjoon entered a dimly lit private room. Namjoon's eyes were drawn to Taehyung, who moved with a quiet grace, as if he was acutely aware of Namjoon's every glance.

Taehyung fixed his gaze on Namjoon as he sat back in his chair. "Tell me, what's on your mind?" he demanded, his tone firm and assertive. He wanted to get to the heart of the matter and discover what was troubling Namjoon. Namjoon could sense the urgency in Taehyung's voice and knew he needed to answer, "I am not thinking of anything right now."

"Are you sure?" Taehyung arched an eyebrow, a mischievous smile playing at the corner of his mouth. It seems like you've been keeping a close eye on me," he remarked. "If I had no prior knowledge, I might mistake you for a spy."

"A spy? Taehyung, you're well aware of my true nature," Namjoon sputtered, taken aback by Taehyung's thoughts. "Apologies if my behavior has seemed off. I have been absent-minded a lot lately, and you have been doing a lot of missions alone, which worries me, especially for your safety."

"Interesting. Rest assured, there is no need to be concerned about my safety. I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself. However, if you want to learn about my solo missions, I'd happily share them. I am confident that you will find this information quite enjoyable." Taehyung spoke, his face adorned with a smile.

Namjoon was more concerned about Taehyung's accompanying smile than his words. He immediately sensed trouble upon hearing the word enjoyable, as Taehyung rarely found anything enjoyable unless it involved him causing chaos.

Taehyung didn't anticipate a response from Namjoon. He could discern that his cousin was lost in thought, attempting to comprehend him. Taehyung possessed an extraordinary ability to read every minute detail on Namjoon's face as if his expressions were an open book.

"Yoongi and Jungkook have started an alliance." With a grin, Taehyung said this. "It's rather charming of them. What possible plans would they have had in mind? Do you know?"

Namjoon's heart raced as he jolted up from his seat, his eyes widening in shock and alarm. "What do you mean they've formed an alliance?" he asked, his voice filled with concern. His mind raced with the implications of such a development, and he couldn't help but wonder how Taehyung had confirmed this. He looked at Taehyung, who seemed oddly calm in the face of such a threatening situation.

"Did you confirm if this is real, Taehyung? Why are you being so calm about it? I warned you that getting involved with the Min's was not a wise decision..."

Namjoon's breath caught in his throat as Taehyung's hand tightened around it, sending a jolt of fear through his body. He could feel the pressure increasing, his airway constricting. In a desperate attempt to free himself, his fingers dug into Taehyung's hand, trying to pry it away from his neck. But Taehyung's grip was unrelenting, his face a mask of anger and frustration.

Taehyung's fingers dug into Namjoon's throat as he spoke, his voice firm. He had no patience for weakness or hesitation, especially not from those around him. "Is this how you respond when you hear our enemies' names?" he demanded, his grip tightening as Namjoon struggled to break free. The air felt thicker and heavy, as though it were slowly being sucked out of his lungs, and Namjoon could feel his heart beating rapidly.

"If the first thing that comes to mind is defeat, then I have no use for you by my side!" Namjoon's desperate attempts were useless as Taehyung continued, his words filled with disdain. "Neither my kingdom nor I are subject to the Min's control!  Anyone with a shred of intelligence understands that forming an alliance with Jungkook is a guaranteed path to destruction!"

With uncontrolled anger, Taehyung forcefully shoved Namjoon, who stumbled backward and collided with the solid wooden table. The impact was unforgiving, and Namjoon let out a pained groan as his back made contact with the hard surface. The force of the shove had left him momentarily dizzy, and he struggled to regain his balance as he tried to steady himself against the table. The room fell silent, the tension thick and heavy in the air, as Namjoon's eyes blazed with a mix of pain and anger.

"Now, let's try this again! Yoongi and Jungkook have joined forces to form an alliance. Now, tell me, what do you think their intentions might be?" Taehyung demanded as he strode towards Namjoon. He knelt and fixed him with an intense gaze, waiting for an answer.

As Namjoon laid his eyes on Taehyung, he felt an overpowering sense of vulnerability that made him feel weak and powerless. His heart raced as he gathered himself, determined not to display any signs of fear in front of Taehyung, as it would wound his pride as an Alpha. He took a deep breath, attempted to slow down his heartbeat, and collected his thoughts before he spoke as he was prepared to take on the challenge that Taehyung's commanding presence presented.

"Their partnership seems to stem from Yoongi's motivation for revenge after his humiliation during your last trip. As for Jungkook, his motives, aside from his ambition to become king, are unclear. However, this ambition seems illogical, as even if he succeeded in removing you, I would be the next in line for the throne, not him. He can only become king if I am no longer in the picture."

"Do you honestly believe he doesn't intend to remove you, too?" "Taehyung inquired, his eyebrow raised in curiosity." "Or, do you belong to their team?"

Namjoon was taken aback, "What? Taehyung, you know you can trust me! I would never do anything to betray you. My uncle was the late king. We are from the same Kim bloodline. I'm always here to support you. You know my stance on Jungkook, especially after the incident involving Hoseok!" Namjoon's voice betrayed his frustration as he struggled to comprehend Taehyung's illogical thinking, especially considering their long history.

"It was only a question," Taehyung responded and stood. "I will keep an eye on Jungkook, and I need you to watch Yoongi and his kingdom closely. I can't take the necessary action since I don't have hard proof for all my suspicions yet."

Namjoon watched as Taehyung approached the wooden chair in the corner of the room. His fingers traced the rough surface of the wood, and then his hand pressed against the chair with a force that made Namjoon uneasy, and the chair gave way, splitting in half with a loud snap. "I should just kill him!" Taehyung yelled.

"Taehyung, you know that is not allowed. That would betray our code and family's promises throughout history, leading to many problems for our kingdom." Namjoon warned. He rose from the ground and walked towards Taehyung, expressing his thoughts, "You know I would've killed him myself years ago if I had it my way, but we can't do that without having the right reason, and you know it."

Taehyung's jaw tightened as he acknowledged Namjoon's words. He knew he was right, but his impulse to act remained persistent. Unexpectedly, a sense of calmness washed over him, instantly awakening his senses, as the door to the room swung open and his Omega entered.

"What are you doing here?" He demanded, his eyes fixed on his Omega.

As Namjoon watched Seokjin make his way towards Taehyung, he found himself captivated. His eyes were fixated on the Omega, taking in every detail of his appearance and demeanor. The warmth of Seokjin's smile only added to the charm and grace he exuded. Having only caught glimpses of him from afar in the past, Namjoon could now observe him up close, and he was struck by the calm aura he gave.

"You called me here." Jin stepped in front of Taehyung, leaning in and embracing him with a warm hug.

Taehyung's eyes closed, and he released a heavy breath of air, his body tensed with discomfort. "Seokjin," he said, his voice strained, "I didn't call you here."

Jin's voice was barely a whisper as he spoke, his chin resting gently against Taehyung's shoulder. "Your anger is deeply affecting my emotions," he murmured, his eyes closed and his face etched with concern.

"Namjoon, you are free to go," Taehyung ordered, watching as Namjoon departed. He then embraced his Omega and said, "You are pregnant; that's what's affecting your emotions, not me!"

Jin's eyes widened in shock as he stared at Taehyung in disbelief. "I'm pregnant?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. He tried to step back, but Taehyung's firm grip held him firmly in place. Jin's mind raced as he tried to process the news.

"Why do you sound surprised? Weren't you aware? How is it that you can sense my anger from a mile away and yet fail to recognize your pregnancy?"

"I'm not sure." Wondering why he could never detect when he was pregnant, Jin muttered. He wasn't sure, however, whether it was supposed to be typical for him to know right away. Many things about his senses had just lately evolved to the extent they had in the last month. Things changed drastically for him after his last heat; he had even felt much closer to Taehyung than before.

Taehyung let go of Jin and maintained eye contact as he stepped back. "I don't want you entering this area without my permission anymore. And now that you're pregnant, I don't think it's appropriate for you to be aimlessly wandering the kingdom's corridors as if you have nothing better to do. Do you understand me?"

Jin nodded and replied, "Yes, I understand, my Alpha."

"I didn't give you permission to call me that."

"Sorry-"

"Now that you're pregnant, I give you permission to call me your Alpha," Taehyung announced.

Jin smiled as he settled back into the embrace of his Alpha, finding comfort in his arms. He didn't need Taehyung's words or thoughts; he naturally felt all he needed.

"For now, you will also remain silent about your pregnancy. Do not share the news with anyone."

"Okay."

"Seokjin?"

"Yes, my Alpha?"

With his Omega gazing at him, Taehyung said, "You know you can say my name, right?"

"Oh...I will next time."

"That's fine." Taehyung said before his tone shifted to a serious one as he asked, "Since you arrived in this Kingdom, have any Alphas approached you?"

"Approached me? No."

"Are you certain?" Taehyung inquired, his gaze fixed on Jin's.

Jin held his gaze and nodded confidently, "I'm sure."

"I have granted permission for your brother to visit you. I will inform you as soon as the exact date is decided."

Jin couldn't help but smile, feeling a sense of joy. He had made the request countless times, even though he had been scolded for it. "Thank you, Taehyung."

"Don't call me that. I prefer when you acknowledge me as your Alpha."

Jin's confusion was noticeable as he instinctively extended his arm to touch Taehyung's forehead. However, his action was met with a reprimand from Taehyung, who seemed perplexed by his behavior. "What are you doing? Why are you touching me there?" Taehyung asked, his tone a mix of surprise and irritation.

"To see whether you're feeling under the weather... My Alpha, are you feeling okay?"

Taehyung's expression grew stern as he warned his Omega, "Don't get yourself in trouble!"

"I am sorry." Jin pouted and grumbled. "I'm returning to my room since it seems I have upset you again." With that, he turned to walk away.

Taehyung quickly extended his arm and drew him nearer, enveloping Jin's waist with his other arm. "I did not dismiss you, Seokjin." His voice was low and serious.

After a warning glare, he gently placed his hand on Jin's stomach and said, "I wanted to share that I will make an effort to control my anger when I'm away from the kingdom and traveling for your well-being and the well-being of our babies."

"Babies? There is more than one?"

"Expressing gratitude should be your priority, rather than inquiring about that. What if there are multiples? You don't want to have them? Is that it?"

"Taehyung...Sorry, my Alpha. Your words caught me off guard, but I appreciate your consideration for me and our baby-"

"Babies! I said babies, Seokjin!"

"Okay, my Alpha. King. Kim Taehyung. I heard you." Jin expressed feeling overwhelmed.

His body grew tense as he noticed the intense gaze of his Alpha fixed upon him. "I am sorry." He whispered.

Taehyung's hand tightened around his arm, but a knock at the door abruptly interrupted him.

Jin was relieved when Hoseok interrupted their conversation, allowing him to retreat to his room. As he walked, accompanied by a few guards, he felt a sense of loneliness. He already yearned for the comforting presence of his Alpha. The news of his pregnancy gave him clarity about his recent feelings, particularly the intense emotions he had been feeling and the deep longing to be near Taehyung whenever they were apart. Despite his Alpha's lingering anger towards him, he found comfort in Taehyung's acceptance and the chance to start a family together.

As he strolled through the courtyard, he suddenly encountered an unusual and overpowering scent that made it difficult to catch his breath. The smell was all too recognizable, evoking a sense of discomfort that quickened his heartbeat. He felt a sudden jolt of fear, as he desperately tried to locate the source. With a sudden whirl, he scanned the expansive courtyard, but everyone looked the same. The overwhelming feeling caused him to feel dizzy, and he struggled to keep his eyes open.

Sensing his distress, Taehyung quickly came to his rescue, wrapping his strong, protective arms around his Omega. Taehyung's sudden action caught the guards off guard, who were rushing to Jin's side to help him. "Seokjin, what's wrong? Are you okay?"

Jin's heart raced as he clung onto Taehyung's shirt. Seeking refuge in the familiar scent of his Alpha, he buried his face in Taehyung's broad chest, feeling the steady thump of his heart. The warmth of Taehyung's strong arms wrapped around him provided him with a sense of safety and security. He closed his eyes, inhaling deeply, and allowed himself to be consumed by the comfort of his Alpha's embrace.
