Chapter Two
"I'm looking for a pet." His voice was low and husky and held authority.
Many of the females put on their best behaviours in hopes of being bought by him, but he didn't even glance their way.
"What kind of pet are you looking for?" Dave asked, rushing at the mystery man's side.
"I'm interested in any rare ones you may have and I will pay you a large amount if they are what I am searching for."
Usually, pet owners would keep the rare ones away from buyers view, hiding them for the wealthy or for auctions, in which they could make a great deal out of.
As soon as Dave heard large amount, he was suddenly very happy to show the mysterious man, the new pet he had obtained.
"You sir, are in luck today. I have exactly what you are looking for," he decided to leave out the parts about him not knowing anything about her, in fear he may lose a good sale. He guided the man to the new girl's cage.
"She doesn't really talk so I do not know her name," he said, showing him the cage with the sleeping girl inside. The blood had already dried up and it looked as if some of the scratches had healed.
"Wake up!" Dave yelled, banging on the bars.
Slowly, the girl uncurled herself and turned towards them. Her white eyes scanning over them slowly.
The man observed her, before nodding his head.
"How much do you want for her."
Dave thought for a minute before replying, "One million and five hundred thousand dollars."
The man seemed to be thinking.
"If you don't want her, I have another buyer waiting already," Dave quickly added.
"I'll take her. What's her name?" He asked.
Dave looked at her, then to the man before saying," She doesn't talk."
The man only nodded his head.
"Follow me to my office sir, Jack will get your new pet ready for you," he said, while gesturing to the tall, well built man, standing in the corner of the shop.
While they went into the office, Jack opened her cage and pulled her out of it, before dragging her to the back room. The girl just stayed quiet the whole time, as if not even paying attention to what was happening.
Jack then roughly fastened a black collar around her neck and took a wet piece of cloth, and wiped away all of the dried up blood.
They would sometimes give the pets new clothing if their new masters paid for it one time, but if not, they would just try to cover up any signs of abuse, but some vampires didn't really mind them.
When he was all done, he led her back into the main room, where her new master was waiting patiently, with Dave.
"Enjoy your new pet sir, you can always return her," Dave said cheerily.
The man simply nodded, then took her collar and led her outside and into a waiting limousine.
He sat on the opposite seat of her, staring at her, as if trying to solve a puzzle.
"Do you talk?" He asked, still staring at her.
She just stared right back at him, displaying no signs of emotion.
"What is your name?" He tried again.
She turned her head and looked out the window for a second before replying.
"Athelaide."
