CLARY'S P.O.V:
I rolled over on my side to find Jace laying there, still sleeping. Shaking him out of bed, I kissed the tip of his forehead. "Come on, sleepyhead. The wedding is tomorrow and we still have to get all of the food and party supplies!" Jaces eyes darted with sleepiness and gladness. "Alright, Ill be ready in a few. Meet you downstairs." My feet slammed against the plush carpet and I strolled out of the room, never knowing what horrible things would happen next.
Jace and I screamed for a taxi 20 minutes later, only waiting a few minutes for the taxi to arrive. "Take us downtown on Main Avenue, to the shopping area." Jace's sunlight eyes gleamed in the window as I spoke to the driver. "Its $4 per mile, and it takes about 3 miles to get there. Your total purchase is $12." Pulling out a leather wallet, I shoved $12 into the dirty taxi driver's hand. "Lets roll."
Speeding down the highway should have been fine (since no one took the back way), but some trouble arrived. "Clary, why do you always have to look so stunning in everything you wear? I cant wait to see the dress tomorrow at our wedding." A smile crept on Jace's beautiful face, spreading the smile to me. "Im definitely not as handsome as you. And about the wedding, we can go to the food store first and then the party supply store after." "Fine with me Clary." I reached over to grab Jace's hand, wrapping my hand around his bony fingers. Grasping tightly, I could feel the fast pace of Jace's pulse-as if he was nervous about something. "Jace, are you nervous about the wedding?" His grip tightened even more "No, not at all. Clary, I have been waiting to marry you since I first met you. Your whole self is the whole reason Im still here today. I love you Clary, why would I be nervous to bring us closer together?" I looked out the window, thinking about what Jace just said. But my thoughts were distracted by something in front of the wheels. "STOP!" The taxi driver turned around to see what was wrong, the driving wheel got slammed to the left into a another car. Slamming on the brakes, the taxi hit into the side of another car. Everyone got flung to the left, Jace almost falling out the window. The windows were cracked, blood was in the taxi, and sirens were going off. My vision blurred with specks of blood, my head aching. "Ja-Jace." My voice croaked. Turning to my left, half of Jace's body was stuck out the window, his legs turned in opposite directions with blood over them. Rushing up, I realized that I couldn't get up. Looking down at my legs, my knee had been distorted out if its socket. It was broken or it might have been even worse. Still worrying about Jace, I gently, with the little strength I had, yanked on Jace's shirt, pulling him fully inside the car. His face was horrible-his eyes were shut with bruises all around them, he was bleeding all over the place, getting paler by the second. " No, Jace." I wrapped his head gently into the arm, blood getting even more on each other. A tear dripped from my eyes as the blood cleared up in my vision. Bending over to get my phone, my head felt as if beads were getting dropped in my head, completely making my world spin. The world only could spin so much before everything goes black, and thats what happened to me. Darkness swallowed me up, I never knew if I would return.
I never knew how many days I was out, all I knew was that Jace was still unconscious. Rushed to the hospital, Jace and I were taken straight into surgery to keep us alive. The taxi driver had gotten major injuries too, broken limbs and a concussion. My surgery was done to my knee and my face-more specifically, my skull. Part of my skull had been chipped from the car accident, but was fixed within a couple of weeks. But my knee was still in terrible condition, healing very slow. I couldn't walk without crutches, and I was told that I had a major concussion so I had to stay in the hospital for at least another 2 weeks. Jace, on the other hand, had been hit even worse, since the car had slammed into the side Jace had been sitting on. 3 weeks passed and he still hadn't woken up- the doctors said he was in a coma. My heart dropped as I heard the news. Shaking uncontrollably, I crumbled onto the floor, making everything blurry. Slow at first, my salty tears then rushed down my face, coming down like a rainstorm. Jace was my everything, he was my other part of life that I was living in, without him, I felt like I had lost a lung. Weeks without someone I love drastically made me change. People visited me, Simon, my mom, Izzy, the usual, but that never cheered me up. I felt like I was stuck in a black hole, never reaching the top to where happiness was. Most of the following weeks I slept and barely ate anything. There wasn't one day where I didn't have this awful sinking feeling of darkness in me.
A month of sitting in the hospital was horrible, so I was glad when the doctors said I could go home. Simon drove me home, but I just stared out the window, never speaking once. Jace had to still stay in the hospital, but I promised to come back and see him everyday, even if he didn't know I was there. Our wedding that we had planned for months was canceled until Jace woke up and I could walk without getting dizzy or without crutches. But I never knew when I would come out of this depression state, and I never knew if Jace was going to ever wake up, so the curious part of me finally had an idea. And it would happen soon enough.
After spending a couple of days at home, I decided to finally take action on my plan. Calling Simon, I told him to drive me to the hospital for Jace. Within 40 minutes, I was at Jace's side.
"Jace, even though you may or may not be able to hear me, Im still saying this. Please wake up. I cant bare to live without out you, I haven't been happy since you have been in this coma. Our wedding was so close, and I know how excited you were. Everyday you would remind me of how many days until the wedding. A gleam of happiness would be in your eyes every time I mentioned the wedding, so I am really sorry you didn't get to have to wedding like you wanted to. Every bit of you I am proud of-from the strands of your hair to your toes. I couldn't love you more than I every do because I love you with every part of me. Whenever you kiss me, I can feel myself getting tingly and even more excited to kiss you again. At night, I always look at your attractive face which always replays the memories of us. All the battles we have fought together, everything we have been together is told on your face. Your eyes are one of a kind, always the color of happiness and beam out sunshine. Please don't leave me, or anyone else that loves you. Just fight through the pain and just get out this coma! I'll always be waiting for you, my angel. The only part of life that I love living."
Tears were encrusted in my eyes, but I scrunched them away. No more crying, it was time to get Jace back.
Looking around the room to make sure no one was there, I pulled out my stele. Steadily, I traced the marriage rune upon his shoulder, gold shooting out of it. I did the same marking on my shoulder, the brightness blinding me. My heart raced as both runes started to gradually loose the gold sunlight shooting out of the them. Everything felt healed on my body, and I felt as if Jace and I were being bonded for life by this rune. Pain shot up my arm, but it soon disappeared as I feel my heart beating fast like Jace's was in the car. Jace's rune was dimming, and he still hadn't woken up. I wondered if he felt the connection that I was feeling with the rune. Both of my legs looked normal and the sinking darkness feeling was gone- I was fully healed. Now both runes were done shining, it only was engraved in our shoulders. Slowly, my hope starting fading. It failed. My plan didn't wake Jace up. I was hopeless. My feet dragging across the floor, I arrived at the door and was about to leave when I heard a moan.
"Clary, is-is that you?" I raced back to Jace's side, knocking him over in a hug. He squeezed me tightly back, tears coming from both of our eyes. I pulled back from the hug and took both of his shoulders, looking him in his eyes. "Jace." I whispered, as I realized it was truly him. His golden eyes and his golden blonde hair, it was perfect. Fiercely, I kissed his lips with the amount of sadness I had felt over these weeks. My hands raced in his soft hair, pulling him closer to me. After a few minutes of rejoicing, I pulled back from him. He laughed gently, his whole body shaking. "Clary Herondale-" "Jace Herondale." "Marry me, Clary.
Right now, marry me forever and be mine for the rest of our lives."
