Dreamwaever
And that was it. All the time I had to think about what to do is now gone.
I really wanted to go. Then again I also wanted to stay alive.
I spent as long as I could at my locker, silently panicking until someone tapped me on the shoulder.
I turned around to see a girl with yellow-brown hair, and of course a black sweatshirt.
A freaking.Black. Sweatshirt.
"Hey are you Maria Reymonds?"
"Uh no you must have the wrong person. I'm Malory Richard. Sorry." I replied picking up my books and shoving them into my locker.
"Hm. Well I guess I won't bother you the . She hasn't showed up yet anyway."
A chill ran down my spine as it had so often today. She isn't here yet.
It's obvious that the girl knows I'm actually Maria.
"So what is this Maria Raymond showing up for?" I asked, foolishly thinking I could get information out of her when she clearly caught my bluff.
"None of your business."
With that the girl turned down the hallway and left.
I closed up my locker, turning around. The kid from earlier, whom opal called spring, was standing at the end of the hallway talking with the other girl. They weren't looking at me, so I tried to get closer to hear what they were saying.
Getting closer to them without them knowing was not the easiest thing, due to the fact that the only people in the hallway were the ones who went to after school clubs. As expected, they noticed me.
Spring walked up to me, followed by the other girl.
" Your name is Maria Reymonds right?"
"Um..."
"Well?"
"I'm-well you see-no I'm just-cousins."
Spring looked at the girl who nodded and they both left.
This was beginning to become too much. I had to find Rosemary. I was not going to meet anyone alone.
I walked as fast as I could down the hallway, there were teachers after all, and out the front doors.
Jasper and opal were halfway down the street and Rosemary was probably on the bus already. Oh no. I must have missed the bus. At least I could walk to Jasper's house. I can probably just tell my mom that I'm going to do homework or something. His house isn't too far away from school so distance isn't a problem.
The problem is the black sweatshirt people.
"So I guess you showed up."
I almost screamed. Trying not to panic, which could earn me a bullet or knife to the back, i turned around, holding my backpack to use as some means to defend myself.
"Hm a backpack. A valiant attempt."
Of course it was her.
"Who are you and why are you here!?"
She smiled, standing up from her place against the wall.
"You know who I am. I'm not a demon though. And yes I do know you thought I was a demon."
I stared at her in disbelief and fear. Should I attack her? I don't know what she's capable of. Plus she can apparently read my mind.
"It's not exactly mind reading. It's a telepathic connection. Hopefully that comes across in a non stalker-ish way."
"You didn't answer my question."
"I answered one of your questions."
"Why are you here?"
She sighed walking up to me, causing myself to tense up more and brace myself for any attacks.
"Don't worry I'm not going to hurt you. I thought you would have realized by now.
I was about to say something but stopped. She must have come to find me, but why?
"I have a few questions for you too."
My breathing quickened and I wondered if I should even answer truthfully.
"Oh don't be so worried, they're easy questions."
"And why should I answer them?" I replied.
"Two reasons. One, there are people who need you to answer for their own safety. And two I have something to tell you in return."
"Fine." If any of this got bad I would run.
"Great. First question: who are your parents?"
"I only have one. My mother Jordan Reymonds." I realized telling her could go wrong almost instantly. What if she attacked my mom?
"Next question: did your mother ever mention having any serious memory loss?"
"Nothing severe."
"Okay. Last question: what is your name?"
I gave her a confused look. How could she not know my name? How did she find me then? And how does she know she has the right person?
"My name is Maria Reymonds."
"No I mean your middle name."
"Onyx."
She nodded, cracking me a small smile, before turning to go.
"Wait! You said you had something to tell me."
She turned around.
"Those dreams you've been having. They were attempts at messages from me."
"What! How can I see it then?!"
"Well half of them are memories. They already happened so it's just a flashback. The other dreams, I let you see."
"But how can you do that? And why me?"
"I can do it because I'm a dreamweaver. And I showed them to you because I'm supposed to protect you.
I just stood there frozen as all this processed in my mind. This can't be real. This is just a prank or something. I know I pretend magic is real for fun but it isn't.
A loud whistling noise sounded from across the street.
"That's my que."she said turning away.
I looked at her, her face was almost exactly like it was in the dream, but thankfully without the skeleton part.
"Goodbye Maria Reymonds, I'll see you soon."
