Prologue

Laurel Di Angelo held her daughter's hand as they walked to the loft. Cas was tall for a three year old but most Darks were and like most Darks, quiet until spoken to, genetics gave her a lot that had to be taught. Laurel buzzed Enoch's loft and the door opened automatically, he knew she was coming. Cas tugged at her hand.

"Why are we seeing uncle Enoch so late?" She didn't answer as they walked up the stairs and Enoch stood outside, leaning on the door. "Uncle Enoch!" Cas ran forward and her wings unfolded as she flew into his arms. Enoch caught her, staring at the wings before looking at Laurel.

"Let's go inside," He smiled at Cas. "Don't worry Angel. I've got cookies and milk for my Goddaughter, especially for her birthday." Cas clapped her hands as he set her down and opened the door. Cas charged in and Enoch's cat, Star opened her green eyes at the three year old who stroked her carefully. Laurel followed Enoch into the kitchen.

"Dhampir was spotted in South America," Enoch poured a glass of milk and found a packet of chocolate chip cookies. "Her powers are getting too strong from what he did...Enoch, can you protect her? Hide her powers and make her forget? I'm asking you to do this because you love Cas as much as I do." Enoch looked at Laurel and touched her face.

"I can't hide her powers and make her forget," Laurel closed her eyes, feeling the heat of his hand. "But maybe she can. If I give her the spell and tell her it'll save people, she'll do it without hesitation." Laurel nodded and they walked out of the kitchen to find Cas opening the portal door. Cas grinned at the woman who stepped out of it.

"Auntie Allie!" Alma hugged Cas and Enoch cleared his throat. Cas saw the cookies and sparks flew out of her chubby fists. "COOKIES!" She took the plate and milk before sitting on her own sofa. The sorcerers went into the next room and Laurel knelt in front of Cas.

"Can I have one, Cas? Enoch wouldn't let me have one," Cas held out the plate and Laurel took a broken one. "Thanks sweetie...Do you like your powers?" Cas drank some milk.

"Who's Dhampir? I heard you talking," Laurel didn't answer. "Does he want to hurt us for my powers?" Laurel nodded and Cas' silver eyes locked with her green. "Then, I'll hide them and make me forget like you want." Enoch and Alma walked in with a spell book. Enoch held it out to Cas who stood up.

"Are you ready, Angel?" She nodded and took the book. "Repeat the words after me, okay?" Cas nodded again. "Nam celare quod Ego tredecim annis," Cas repeated the words, her voice squeaking. "Fac me oblivisci quod cum quaeritur de donec," The book glowed and Cas collapsed onto her sofa. "She won't remember what she can do but her clairvoyance won't go away." Laurel nodded and carried Cas home, feeling a weight off her shoulders.
