I'm so excited for this story so let's just get on with chapter 1
Jared's POV
"Hey Jared! Wait up!" My manager, Bill, yelled to me as I was walking down the street.
"Yeah?" I replied.
"I just got a call from a movie producer. He's thinking about making a country style movie and he wants you to audition if he does." Bill told me.
"That's cool but I don't know anything about the country." I explained.
"I knew you would probably say that so I went ahead and found a ranch for you to stay at this summer to learn the country life ways." I knew Bill probably wouldn't let this go. He is usually pretty stubborn. He always wanted me to do something different, and this? This was very different.
"Wouldn't the people there recognize me? I mean everyone knows who I am." I argued.
"Not the people at this ranch."Bill said back. That's crazy. I'm pretty sure that kind of place doesn't exist in America.
"Why...?"
" The people here live for only one reason:their ranch. They don't own TVs or cell phones. They are cut off from everything." That meant I would be cut off from everything too. Yeah... That's not going to happen. Thanks, Bill, for giving me another reason not to want to go to the stupid ranch.
"Um... No. I'm not abandoning my life for the summer just for one movie." I immediately said.
"Please Jared. This could be your best movie yet." Bill whined
"What are the chances of that?" I questioned him.
"Oh. Come on. There may be some cute girls there." He tried to tempt me.
He should know that wouldn't tempt me. Besides, how good looking could the girls there be? They live in a ranch.
"No."
"Jared. Listen to me," he commanded " Aren't you tired of being recognized everywhere you go. Of being swarmed by people the moment you step foot into a building. This is a chance to get away from that." That actually sounded pretty good.
"Fine!" I said just to get him off my back but I immediately regretted it. No internet or cell service for two months. It just doesn't seem fair. How do the people there live like that? I guess I'm about to find out. By the time I had finally agreed Bill was already on His phone booking me a flight to Texas.
Sarah's POV
"What do you think about helping out with the campers this year?" My dad asked me as I was getting some milk out for my breakfast. The campers are one way we make money for the ranch. As I was pouring the milk the last drop entered my cup and I sighed. That means I have to go get more milk.
At my house whoever emptied the jug has to go get more and not from the store. Why buy milk when you can get it for free from a cow?
"You can answer the question later. Right now it looks like you have to go pay a visit to Betsy." Betsy is our dairy cow. I know stupid name ,right, but my mom likes the classic names like fluffy and brownie and Betsy and Patty. Fluffy is not a cow's name. Fluffy is the cat. I just didn't want you to think we named our cow Fluffy.
I got my shoes on and went outside with a bucket to get the milk. A little while later I was back inside with fresh milk.
"So do you have an answer?" My dad asked. I had to think about what he was talking about for a minute and then I remembered his question and I already knew my answer.
"Yes!"I screamed
All the campers are from the town and ,like us, don't have internet access. We get magazines at the grocery store but my family doesn't buy them. That's the only way people know who is who. There is said to be a 'magic spot' in the middle of town somewhere where you have internet but I have never found it since the only place I go in town is the grocery store with my dad.
For elections we go to our neighbor's house. They have a TV so we find out who won the elections that way.
I have been wanting to help out with the campers all my life but my dad said I was too young. This year I turned fourteen so I was hoping my dad would let me help out. I didn't even have to ask him! He asked me. This is going to be a great summer!

I have noticed a pattern In my stories. The first chapter is usually pretty short. I'm really sorry about that guys. By the way this ranch is based on my favorite place I went to when I was little. The ranch was in Arkansas not Texas and they sold it so that was sad but I guess it can live on through my story or whatever.
Love you!
Happy reading!!
