astrid mercer was the step-sister of alex mercer. her father had married his mother after his dad had passed. even though, they were step-siblings, they were deeply close. when alex came out to her , she held him and comforted him. when she came out to him as omnisexual, he let her talk and listened. they were each other's best friend

when they were 13, luke patterson came into their life. he quickly became best friends with both of them and then one night, reggie peters shows up. astrid and reggie had an unspoken bone. everyone knew they loved each other but themselves.

astrid had been writing songs since she was 12 years old, she was now 16. she wrote them when her mother left and her dad got remarried. she joined the band with luke, reggie, alex and bobby. she was put on background vocals and piano. alex played the drums as luke sang, reggie played the base and bobby was the guitarist.

astrid stayed up most nights thinking about reggie or her mom. she wrote most of her songs during the night time and during the day, she either practiced or went to school. she got used to seeing luke or reggie at their house

her father and amanda started to fight everyday and night about something new but it was usually about astrid and alex and their sexuality's.

astrid and alex started to spend the night in each other's rooms and when it got too much, they went to luke or bobby's. reggie's parents had always been fighting too. reggie and astrid would lay next to each other at night and they would sleep heavily. reggie started to hold her in his sleep and she hummed him to sleep.

alex and luke had set up a bet to see when they would finally get together but they never did. not until it was too late. not until the night of their first performance and they died.

now it was 25 years later and everything had changed. only question was had astrid and reggie's feelings changed too
