I was going about my normal business, scrubbing floors and stuff, when the doorbell rang.

Seeing, how everyone else was busy, I stood up before sighing. "I got it!" she said to no one in particular as she opened the door before revealing a dark-blue haired female with glasses.

"I was sent from the king to deliver these invitations," she said casually as I smiled. "Thank--" I started, before getting harshly shoved by my older step-sister.

"These must be the invitations!" Lila shouted with delight as the messager simply blinked. She had no idea what to expect.

"Yeah, no kidding," I mumble under my breath as I help myself stand up. Lila noticed that the messager was still standing there.

"You can go now," Lila said firmly before slamming the door on her. "She's so rude," the messager mumbled as she walked back to the palace.

"You didn't have to be rude," I said gently as Lila glared darkly at me. "Mom! We got our invitations to the ball!" Lila said happily while yelling the words out-loud.

I, naturally covered my ears. "I think she can hear you," I said casually to Lila as she scoffed before counting the invitations.

There were exactly two. Since, the mother of the household was older than eighteen, she didn't count as an eligible maiden.

However, Tikki and Lila did. "That's great news, darling!" my step-mother said dramatically as I forced myself to not roll my eyes.

"I can give this other invitation to my friend, Adrien!" Lila said proudly as I felt slightly hurt. "Or, you could give the invitation to me, since I'm part of the family too," I said gently as Lila and my step-mother stared at each other before laughing.

My heart broke, but I kinda expected them to react that way. After all, I'm just some peasant girl. What's so special about me?

I sighed sadly to myself before walking pass the two, and proceeding to wash the dishes. "I'm a nobody," I said to myself as I continued watching dishes, while staring at my own reflection. Maybe I'm just not meant to go to the ball.
