the wind howled against the glass window, the cold coursing through the house as she looked outside the disastrous scenery. she sighed, turning on her heel to head home. once she exited out of the bleak building, she spotted the park, at the park, she spotted a man.
he sat alone at a bench, smoking away his troubles with sunglasses shading his eyes. he turned to her; giving her a small smile. he took out the cigarette, extending it to her as he spoke; his voice hoarse and raspy.
" want a hit?" he asked, the smirk never leaving his lips. she refused the offer; shaking her head.
"it's actually not as bad as you think," he said, his brown hair blowing in the wind. "cigarettes don't kill you like they make it out to be. and actually, men find it pretty sexy if a woman smokes."
"thank you, " she clasped her hands together. "but i don't need a man's approval."
"just one puff," he handed her the cancer stick. "come on, it won't hurt."
with a sigh, she grasped it; inhaling its toxic as she smoked.
"what's your name?" she asked. the smoke began to dispurse from her mouth once she spoke.
"leo." he grasped the former object from her, pressing his lips to the filter only to taste the nicotine and her lipstick stain. "what's yours?"
"nicole."
and for once, she felt free.
