Inside the modest home of the Granger family Rosalie Black walked around the tiled island in the kitchen, thankful she had taken to simply wearing black high waisted pants and a cropped long sleeve top just as dark as the bottoms because her stomach ached from how much running she had did yesterday.
Corset's were never fun when hurting.
She leans her elbows onto the white island, enviously watching as Hermione ran around the kitchen table and through the living room with her father chasing after her. The youngest Granger laughed breathily as she kept teasingly dangling her new emerald crusted bracelet Rose had given herβthe father laughing along with jokes of his plan to steal it.
Subconsciously Rose touched the emerald jeweled necklace she got to match as that familiar sinking feeling came, it wasn't that Rose wasn't purely happy Hermione had such good relationships with her parentsβRose just couldn't help how it made a sick feeling come over her gut.
Purely envious was all.
Miss Granger sat down a dish covered in tinfoil by Rose, garnering the Black's attention as she looked up to see the mother smiling before leaning like she'd been doing on the island. "Hermione was so happy you were coming with us. My parents are very religious so you know....she's just very nervous to come out to them. I think it's important for her to tell the whole family before letting anyone at school know"
"I'm glad to be here Miss Granger and you should know the Wizarding World is much more acceptive of sexuality. As long as you find a way to keep making kids no one cares" Rose nodded along, smiling at how the mother winked.
Truthfully Rose didn't know how she was supposed to keep her cool. Hermione's parents were amazing, always supporting her in becoming a witch and coming out as lesbian. The mother side grandparents on the other hand thought magic was the work of satan but dealt with it without making much commotion besides snide little remarks when Hermione wasn't aroundβbut Hermione had hope they would be supportive of this as well like the rest of her family.
"Oh I told you not to call me thatβtoo formal for my taste" she continued on, nudging their shoulders and doing as her daughter had told her when Rose flinched, acting like it never happened. "I think Hermione feels a certain safety with you, female friendships are important and you mean a lot to her"
Rose's eyes trailed back to the girl laughing and zooming back toward her in a purple tee-shirt, "I'd kill for her, you know? She's like a piece of me" Miss Granger's breath hitched and Rose quickly looked over, "Oh sorry! That was rather scarily bluntβI have a problem doing that to people...I'm still not used to this whole muggle thing"
The mother started to chuckle with a hint of nervousness, "You're fine sweetie. I think it's greatβwell murder isn't great but the fact you'd do anything for her"
Hermione crashed into the opposite side of the island, "Mum! Tell dad to stop chasing me or we'll be late!"
"Never!" Mister Granger yelled playful, Hermione squealing and circling around to yank Rose up and hide behind her.
The father paused, clicking his tongue. "It's you or her Rosalie"
"I wouldn't go there Wendell" Rose deadpanned, her eyes blank enough to make him pause. He wondered if the young girl realized how she truly could never pass for a muggle, appearing like the embodiment of a dark witch. Her eyes pierced into him creepily and he found himself unable to speak.
Hermione threw arms around the back of Rose's neck with a laugh and Rose broke the magic she used against the man, joining in on the laughter as she grabbed Hermione's wrist.
"You have nothing on her pops!" Hermione cheered, sticking her tongue out. "She's my Wednesday Addams! Tremble you loser!"
"Wednesday Addams?" Rose questioned as she let Hermione hang onto her and the father fell into a deep laugh.
"It's a television show," Mister Granger filled in, "Ever since we first met you we've compared you with her"
"Weird" Rose muttered before swinging around in Hermione's hold, "No more putting it offβlet's go"
"Chop chop!" Miss Granger clapped, "They live next door so we have no excuse to be late!"
During the walk next door Hermione had squeezed Rose's hand at least ten times, muttering to herself a mile a minute. When they reached the steps up to the porch of the one story home Hermione pulled Rose to a stop, telling her parents to go on in.
Rose waited until the door closed to tear herself away, forcing Hermione to turn and face her as the buzzing yellow lights on the porch lit them up. "You're going to be fine Mione, I'm here with you and I would never let them demean you"
"It's justβ" Hermione took a deep breath before beginning to ramble quickly, "Can you do that thing you used to do when we were younger and I'd get too nervous before a test? You know what I'm talking about?! I think it'll help"
"The nose thing?" Rose smiled, tipping her head back with laughter.
"I'm serious Rose! Please!"
"Okay okay" Rose quieted her laughter, lifting her chin as she brought a polished red nail to Hermione's nose, bopping her there. "Now you can conquer anythingβ"
"βBecause I'm right here." Hermione finished the old lines Rose made up for them to calm each other, starting to smile from ear to ear. "I love you....thank you for coming"
"Anything for my best girl," Rose winked and interlaced their fingers, pulling Hermione up the steps. "You know I could've brought Nyx...she bites homophobes for a living"
Hermione snorted as she tried to keep her laughter in, shoving Rose slightly.
The door swung open and Miss Granger guided them inside, walking through a long hall with wooden walls, Rose laughing every five seconds at the baby pictures of Hermione they passed before being led into a small dining room where both old and gray grandparents sat with Mister Granger and piles of food spread out.
"Their auras are terrible," Rose whispered to Hermione, getting a glare in response before the girl smiled at her grandparents.
"Missed you guys!"
"And us too," The grandmother spoke, looking down at the girls intertwined hands and nudging the grandfather not so discreetly. "Why don't you come sit and introduce us?"
"Of course." Hermione dragged Rose toward the table as her grandparents stood from their seats, "This is Rosalie Black, a friend from my school"
"Lionel Wilkins and my wife Jean" The grandfather extended his hand.
Blinking at his hand Rose slowly trailed her eyes back up to his face, "Germaphobe but pleased to meet you both"
"Oh...." The grandmother mumbled in slight offensive, Hermione cursing Rose for almost making her laugh. "Have a seat dears"
The girls sat down across from the grandparents as the two other parents took to opposite heads of the table. Rose thought she might have a minute to collect herself when the grandmother started speaking to her directly, "That's some dark attire you have on"
"Oh I'm actually allergic to color ma'am" Rose deadpanned, her face completely serious. As the two in front of her shared a glance she spoke again, "I meant itβrare condition I have"
"Goodness me'" The grandmother spoke, "Are you really?"
"Well there's different types of witches, you know? I come from a long line of them so I have this issue where if colored cloth touches my skin I burn" Rose sighed heavily, leaning back into her chair. "Much like Christian's did to witchesβmust be my own karma for having magical abilities"
Hermione snorted into her glass of water, hiding it with a loud cough.
"I'm sorry to hear that...awful hold magic has on your world but we are coming to understand in a way. I'll be sure to pray for you"
Rose waved the grandmother off with a sincere hand over her heart, "Oh please don't...there's no hope for my kind"
Hermione covered her mouth this time, trying so very hard to keep it together as she kicked Rose under the table.

Inside of Grimmauld Place Whitman, Theo, and Draco all sat at the dinning room table with Walburga at the head, the woman rambling with a cigarette to her lips about the latest buzz as Kreacher laid out a red velvet cake in the center with a large kitchen knife.
"Do you want some tea?" Whitman interrupted, "I'm too parched to have cake without a drink"
"Oh yes please" Walburga laughed pompously, "Spike it with a bit of whiskey though"
"As you were saying" Theo called to the woman from beside Draco, being more polite than he had ever been. Usually he would disregard her with utter distaste but not today, "I wonder how the prophet will take the news"
"I had to let it out Theodore" Walburga smirked, her voice slowly dying out in Whitman's ears as he closed the kitchen doors behind himself.
He took a deep breath as Kreacher quietly walked in and slid two full steaming teacups onto the counter by the stove, neither speaking in fear Walburga would hear even if she was too preoccupied in the other room. The thing was Whitman had an advantage here, Walburga always checked her back, it was something she taught Rose from a young age.
But she wouldn't with him or the two other boys.
No, they provided a false sense of safety.
A very false sense.
Whitman felt nothing as he pulled a small vial holding a forest green liquid. He felt nothing as he uncorked it and poured it into the first cup. He felt nothing as he watched every drop sizzle upon hit the liquid before fading in.
All he wanted was Walburga dead.
"Motus Mori" Whitman whispered, sliding his finger around the rim of the porcelain cup with an old enchantment from Rose's journal.
Kreacher tugged on his pant leg, "Whitman...."
"Yes?"
"It will all be okay, right?" Kreacher whispers, "You do this for Mistress Rose?"
"Everything will be fine Kreach" Whitman promised as he opened up a drawer full of kitchen knives and forks, grabbing himself the biggest blade before tucking it into his back pocket. "Open the door for me"
Walburga's voice floated back into his ears as he walked through the dining room, quietly setting her cup down and placing his own in front of himselfβpainfully yanking the knife out of his pocket and placing it on his lap as he sat down.
Theo and Draco's eyes both trailed over to him, getting a blink in return, interrupted by Walburga calling for Whitman.
"Dear, will you hand me that ashtray?"
Whitman slid the small glass tray toward her before starting to spin his rings around on the table, something he did to calm the nerves.
"I wonder when Rosalie will be back from Blaise's manor" Walburga spoke mindlessly as she lifted the tea up, blowing the steam off.
"He said they were off to go visit some Scottish designer" Whitman shrugged, barely looking up from his rings as she took a long sip.
"Is this new?" Walburga's features perked, "It's quite delicious"
"It's not home brewed" Theo proclaimed, "Some guy was selling it outside of Knockturn alleyβapparently has good health benefits"
"It's exquisite" Walburga lifted the cup again, chugging as if addicted and Theo had a internal debate on how he was right, using Rose's flavorful tweaking spell would always be a genuis move.
It became oddly silent as Walburga finished, letting out a long sigh as she gazed around the room. The poison was supposed to work in under a minute and she had already drank the liquid, leaving no point for them to be fake anymore.
But they needed to prepare, Walburga wouldn't go out easily.
"My tongue feels weird," Walburga opened and closed her mouth, face contorted in confusion. "Did that man tell you what the tea was made of?"
"No" Theo answered simply, calmly picking up the large knife off the table as if he was about to cut cake.
"Hm..." she choked up suddenly, hands slamming on the table as her windpipes began to constrict quickly. "I...I think I'm choking!" Walburga started to gasp, clawing desperately at her throat from where she sat. "Boys! Boysβhelp me! Someone slipped poison in!"
One by one, Whitman looked over at her with a shake of his head. Theo's eyes snapped her as he held the knife tighter, nothing shown on his face. And Draco, he only stared at the woman.
Neither moved an inch.
That was the moment she realized, the epiphany pushing her down a spiral and goosebumps spreading over her alabaster skin.
Walburga pushed her hands on the table, sending her chair sliding back as the gasping worsened from her own shock. While choking she attempted to lift her hands for a spell but Theo rose up on his feet, his fingers yanking her black curls back and without another secondβhe slid the knife across her throat.
Draco on the other hand stood and moved to the doorway, keeping watch as he was told to do.
She tried to cover the wound as Theo pulled her up out of the seat, blood running down her hand as she gargled on the crimson. Whitman rised up as Walburga managed to send a wonky spell to the wall and Theo shoved her forward, Whitman grasping her shoulder and driving the knife into her chest forcefully.
"I'll...I'll kill you" Walburga managed out, yelling in agony as Whitman took the knife out and drove it in again, twisting the blade around for maximum pain. Her hand not holding onto her throat weakly touched his face, "And then....then I'll kill Roβ"
Before Whitman could even process the words Theo snapped from hearing her threaten Rose, yanking Walburga back so hard the knife slid out of her chest before he threw her down on the groundβcoming over top of her and starting to rear backβdriving his own knife into her body repeatedly.
Her mouth opened with an ear curdling scream, a ripple of magic shooting out before Whitman slammed his foot onto her neck, crushing her windpipe and sadistically watching as Theo kept stabbing and stabbing her.
Her neck snapped from the pressure of Whitman's weight and even as her eyes drained of life, head lulling to the sideβTheo didn't stop. Grunting and driving the knife in again and again like a man crazed.
"Theo," Whitman called breathlessly as he removed his foot from her neck. When Theo still didn't stop Whitman yelled, grabbing his arm that kept pushing the blade in. "Theo! She's dead!"
Theo shook, pausing for a moment before slamming the knife in her chest one more time. Whitman crouched down infront of him, grabbing the boy's face with his bloody palms. Theo's eyes were wide as he pulled the knife out, looking over his clothes, arms, handsβeverything so very red.
"Hey, hey" Whitman forced Theo to look at him, "She's goneβshe can't hurt Rose now, okay? You did what you had to do. You had to do it so don't freak out"
Theo could barely catch his breath as his eyes scanned the blood matching on Whitman, the knife clattering to the ground. "IβI had to do it."
"Yeah" Whitman nodded quickly, "You had to. It's going to be fine because you have nothing to feel guilty about."
"I don't feel guilty." Theo assured sternly, "I justβI snapped so quickly that I took myself by surprise...I'm just in shock"
Draco's hand came onto his shoulder as he started to couch by the dead woman, "She threatened Rosie and lookβthe old hag is powerless now"
Whitman sat back on his knees as he scanned her mangled body, a twisted sense of happiness coming over him. "I think..." his words ran off as he started to laugh.
"She really is powerless" Theo's lips curled up, head tilting as he finally caught his breath, laughing as he nudged Walburga's body and it didn't move.
"We're so fucked up" Draco laughed breathily before lifting his hands up, mockingly cheering. "She's dead!"
Amongst the laughter Draco realized something, starting to frown. "Oi! What happened to letting me stab her? I would've enjoyed twisting a knife in her pathetic gut"
"Oh fuck off," Whitman rolled his eyes, "You made the poison that truly killed her"
"And it's not like me and Whit could've necessarily controlled our anger once it startedβhappened too quickly" Theo added on, wiping his bloody hands off on his pants and rising up, pulling a cigarette out.
"Are you smoking right now?" Whitman blinked, "Seriously?"
Theo hummed gruffly, bringing a lighter up as his fingers coated the rolled paper red.
"Listen, Theo needs to go shower in Rosie's room and you need to go do it in your room Whit" Draco demanded as Theo leaned against the table, taking a long exaggerated hit. "I'll stay down here with Kreacher and heal all the stab wounds before we take her to Saint Mungos. It needs to appear as if she just had a heart attack"
"Don't forget to clean off the blood" Theo piped in, pushing off the wood and leaving the cigarette in his mouth as he hooked an arm around Whitman's neckβtruly only making them both more bloody.
"Obviously" Draco snorted, pushing up his sleeves before crouching back down by the body with his wand. "Go and be quick"

Down in Richmond at a muggle park, Rose sat at a round cement table with Hermione and the girl's parents. She was busy forcefully feeding Hermione sherbet ice cream as she straddled the cement bench, practically having a celebration as Miss and Mister Granger laughedβthe grandparents turned out to be surprisingly supportive of Hermione being a lesbian.
Three loud cracks rung out right behind her, making everyone sat jump and look up to find three boys in pristine condition standing there with slight distress on their faces.
Rose brought the spoon out of Hermione's mouth slowly, furrowing her brows as the three started whispering amongst each other. "Uh....Miss and Mister Grangerβthis is Whitman, Theo, and Draco. I told you about them earlier"
All of the boys stopped whispering at once, equally looking disturbed at the fact they just apparated in front of two muggles.
"Ah! It's great to meet you all!" Miss Granger praised before her eyes honed in on Theo who was staring down at Rose, "Theo....that's the one you said looks like Hermione's brother?"
"Yes!" Rose stated cheerfully, "I swear they look like siblings! Of course Theo has more melanin in the winter but still! I mean it used to freak me out how much they looked alike! From the hair to eyebrows and frecklesβMerlin everything is the same!"
"Goodness me" The father laughed, "He looks like you birthed him Monica!"
"I agree mum" Hermione added on with a shrug, "I bet if we walked down the street people would think we're siblings...hey! That's how we can pass me for a pureblood! I can be his long lost sister!"
"I knew I was right!" Rose started to giggle, shoving Theo slightly as he kept staring down at her, unknowingly not hearing a word being said. "Teddy, what's wrong?"
"Uh....as nice as this is," Whitman began slowly, "Something's happened"
"Walburga's in Saint Mungos" Theo blurted out, finally coming back to earth after being too busy staring at Rose's smile when she was speaking. He knew deep down it would be a long time before he saw her that way again.
Rose recoiled slightly on the bench seat, swinging her other leg over so she fully faced them. "Walburga never goes to Saint Mungos"
Draco spoke up, "You need to come with us"
"What?" Rose shook her head, "Just explain what happened"
"Ro" Theo held his hand out to her, "I think it's best the Mediwitches explain, okay?"
She nodded quickly, wrapping her hand around his fingers and standing up with a fuzzy brain. "Um," she looked down at Hermione, "I'm glad everything worked out with your grandparents. They were a delight"
"Me too," Hermione smiled uneasily at how shook the boys appeared, "Do you want me to come with you?"
"No." Rose answered curtly, "Thank you thoughβyou too Miss and Mister Granger"
"I hope everything is fine with your grandmother" says Miss Granger politely.
And before Rose could respond, Theo started tugging her down the grass of the park.
"What the fuck is happening?!" Rose raised her voice, "Do you have a port key to the hospital? They should've give you one when she was put in a room becauseβ"
"We have one" Theo promised, grabbing her face as he pulled out a small healer badge used as port keys for emergency patients. "Just breathe baby"
Draco and Whitman circled their sides as Theo put her finger to the port key, all latching on before being swirled through space and time, landing in a brightly light hallway.
Rose dusted off her pants as she gazed around, the automatic double doors in front of them swinging open as a Mediwitch guided a weeping woman out. The clicking of her heels halted as she looked up at the words across the entrance, fluorescent lights above blinking.
"ICU?" Rose breathed out confusedly, Whitman nodded and started to walk in front of her with Draco. She felt Theo's hand glide onto her back but everything started to slow, limbs buzzing as an ominous feeling cameβas if she knew what was awaiting her.
The only sound she could hear were the beeping of machines as they passed by room after room, Rose licking her lips as her throat closed, recalling being here less than a year ago for Orion.
"In here" Whitman muttered, bringing her back to earth slightly as he and Draco turned into a room. Theo helped guide her through the small hall that opened up to the space but she barely moved and he stepped by her, letting Rose take her time to walk in.
Her ears started ringing as the beeping of machines grew louder, spotting Walburga laid on a bed with a tube down her throat in a hospital gown, wires crossed over her body, ten or more machines around the mattress.
But that's when Rose saw the biggest black screen, the one that mattered.
There was nothing but flatlines, no heartbeat.
Narcissa had her back to the teenagers, a male mediwizard in front of herself with a clipboard and a solemn face.
"I'm sorry Miss Black." The male called but he sounded like he was a thousand miles away to Rose as her breathing turned shallow and her eyes stayed glued to Walburga, rapidly sucking in air as every reflection of fluorescent light seemed to blur as she looked at the dead body.
Narcissa crossed over, sliding her hand on Rose's shoulder. "Rose, the mediwitches said there's nothing else they can do for Walburga. We have to take her off the machineβ"
Draco reached out as Rose unsteadily inched backward, "Rosie stay with us don'tβ"
She yanked his arm away, turning around and rushing out of the room as horrified tears ran down her cheeks. They went after Rose but she couldn't hear them calling her name as her chest tightened, the beeping persisted on getting louder in her headβsounding the same for Orion, her limbs starting to tremble as she moved as quick as the heels would allow.
Her hand slid onto the back of her neck as the fuzz in her brain grew, face contorting as she apparated on the spot.
