rule no.2―never give a name

charcoal ribs;
rotten sticks;
ruby red;
and horseshoe bricks;
rosemerry sinners;
and blueberry thyme;

(to get just a bit more time.)

baby bones, from lobsters shell;
sweet sorrows and helpless hells;

a little mushroom from dirt ripe with dead;
plant an apple there instead;
take one of your apple seeds;
and trade it for some sharpened teeth;

a shot of vodka on the rocks;
wear two different colored socks;
wear roses colored gold-red;
even when this is all done and said.

never sleep on cotton-silk;
never try to ride the elk;
never steal from their gold;
never eat, even if it's what you're told;
never say your gratitude;
never, ever, come off as rude;
never give apologies;
never bring a pet with fleas;
never chip your left big toe or;
never will they let you go
never fry a snake-bit egg;
never dress in those of dregs;
never salt a tortoise-snail;
never say that you have ail.

dress your skin in salted candy―
change your name to something dandy.

broken shards from green glass bottles;
heartless hope and things you'd throttle.
a cupcake from a fancy store;
get it quick, serve it warm.
a lock of hair dyed golden brown;
remember you shan't never frown;
(remember to always keep your head down.)

batter from a willow tree;
wheat that grows on bitter knees;
hedgestone hands covered in broken petals;
sorry sights and copper metals;

bring with you a slice of bread;
with marmalade and shaky hands;
spit blood blue with cold;
there will be stories that go untold;

sleep not without one eye open;
drink liquor only at seven;
slit your fingertips a blood red;
with a honeysuckle on your head;
bring with you a book on berries;
do not ever take them in plenties;

wash you hands with bubblegum;
watch from dawn at the setting sun;
trip over the roots of peach-plump trees;
pray you'll get back in one piece;

now this may seem fine, to you all the same;
but even as children are told:

don't ever give a name.

they will promise you a land of riches;
they do not lie, just ask the witches;
but do not ever show nor tell;
because for how much you beg;
they will never sell;
if they promise wealth or fame;
just remember, you'll lose just the same

fae and such do not care for rules;
we are there, for what not, but to amuse?
