chapter one - part two
josh's POV
{A/N almost every chapter is gonna be in josh's and tyler's point of view.}
school always was a pain in the ass, the only reason i didn't drop out yet is because school is basically an excuse to stay away from home and see my friends more often.
i drove my car to school, a cigarette pressed between my lips and a blink-182 cd playing, while i tapped the drumming rhythm on the steering wheel.
i parked my car on the parking lot of the school and practically ran out of it, seeing my friends pete, jack and brendon leaning against the outside wall of the school while smoking cigarettes. my friend brendon, well, he looked like he wasn't very sober, to say at least.
"brendon boyd urie, what the hell?" i laughed. "a rough morning, i see?"
"perhaps," brendon sighed dramatically. "why'd you ask?" he asked with a british accent and pete laughed.
"he's been drinking vodka out of his water bottle all morning," pete said. i laughed.
"how have you been? haven't seen you since friday," i said while giving pete a bro hug. "i just got sick after that party, but apart from that, life has been good, you know, can't complain," i nodded and silently asked jack for a cigarette since i already finished mine, and jack handed his to me. "i've got patrick, you know, everything's fine. how've you been?"
"i've been all right. to be honest, i'm still trying to get used to you having a boyfriend though," i said, "it's different than banging a girl, i mean."
pete just laughed. "dude just- i don't know how to explain it, i don't really care if it's a girl or a guy i fuck. and patrick makes me happy, so yeah." i smiled at him and nodded.
"guys, guys, maybe- maybe i'm gay too," brendon said to us and struggled to stand straight. jack offered him his arm and brendon clung on to it like it was his lifeline.
"i mean, let's all try this out, i mean, just, i mean-"
"brendon you don't know what you're saying," jack said with a scoff.
"yes. i do. you're so annoying," brendon groaned. "josh, why don't we try this gay shit out? pete said the sex is good."
i chocked on the smoke i was inhaling, and was coughing for a whole minute straight while i tried to control my breathing. brendon looked at me with a serious expression.
"no, no thanks brendon, i'll pass."
"come on, josh, jack's already a little bitch who's scared to try new shit out, you're the only motherfucker left. please," brendon begged. jack pushed him away from his arm to text someone and brendon pouted.
brendon leant against the wall, looked up and then smirked, and i didn't know what the hell that son of a bitch was thinking, but he had this crazy smirk on his face you just can't trust.
"i bet you, joshua william dun, that you can't sleep with that guy over there," he nodded his head to a skinny guy who was anxiously looking at the school. i could see he was stared at, so he must've been a big deal, or he would've been a popular rumour or something.
"what? i could easily fuck him, i mean, look at him," i said. the guy wore black jeans with black vans. He wore a grey ohio sweater. his brown fluffy hair looked messy because of the wind. he had a straight nose. he actually looked pretty, really, even though he had quite obvious bags under his eyes. though, nothing for me. i didn't like guys, picturing myself sleeping with a guy was just... weird.
"ah, bet you can't," brendon stated.
"is that a challenge, urie?"
"yes it is, dun."
"then challenge accepted." i turned around to search the guy and he was already walking past us.
"decided not to go after all? i don't blame you," i said, gesturing to the school. he looked at me, and looked away quickly after that while continuing walking away.
"you call this catcalling, dun?" brendon asked and started laughing. pete snickered.
"i'm surrounded by idiots," jack muttered, still not looking up from his phone.
"w-well i had to say something, i don't know what to do, how do you flirt with a guy?" i tried to explain myself frantically but brendon and pete started laughing harder after that.
eventually, brendon laughed so hard that he started gagging and pete stroked his back to calm the movements, but brendon turned away and puked on jack's shoes.
jack made a gagging sound and you could see the fury in his eyes.
"how can you be so stupid, brendon? get your shit together, for fuck's sake! you better buy me a new pair!" pete hushed him and took him inside to clean up his shoes and calm him down.
i looked at brendon and he just told me it was alright and that he was feeling alright.
"it's okay, dude, maybe you should just go after that guy. let's see how far you'll get."
i shook my head. "nah, it's not my thing, you saw what just happened. i don't know how to flirt with a guy."
"just pretend to be flirting with a girl, it's the exact same thing. well, i'm going now, i need to wash my mouth," brendon said before walking away. i went after the boy who almost walked out of the street.
he went into a small drugstore and i went after him, but as soon as i came into the store, the guy was gone.
"hello, can i help you?" a man with red hair asked cheerfully, he was sitting behind the counter and playing a game on his phone.
"yeah, can i have some camel cigarettes?"
"they're over there," the man said while pointing to a rack. i went to the other side of the rack, and there was the guy from before.
okay, what should i do?
i tapped his shoulder and he turned to look at me, and then his eyes widened, realising who i was. i grinned, because he looked funny like that.
"hey, could you eh, step aside for a sec?" i asked and gestured to the racks behind him. he blinked slowly and nodded before stepping aside. i tried to be as casual as possible, just like i am with girls, but it felt different.
i grabbed a pack of camel cigarettes and held it up with a smile. "thank you," i said as smoothly as i possibly could, and turned on my heel to walk towards the counter. most of the time, when i would do that to a girl, they would stare at me and i would catch them staring, or they would blush. sometimes, when girls are really interested in me, they follow me, so this was a way to find out if he was interested or not.
i smirked when i heard soft footsteps behind me. when we were outside, i started laughing.
"hey, why are you following me?" i turned around. i looked at him with a grin. he blushed and turned away.
"no, i wasn't," he stated.
"yes you were," i teased with a smirk. i was glad he was interested, that would mean i would be able to rub it in brendon's face.
"well, why did you talk to me and followed me shortly after that?" he shot back. i furrowed my eyebrows and i was thinking of a good answer that wouldn't sound too fuckboy-ish, in case he would lose interest. i smiled again before answering.
"i don't know," i said and shrugged, "i just wanted cigarettes."
"that doesn't explain why you talked to me."
"geez, stop being so annoying. can't people talk to pretty boys these days?" i groaned and rolled my eyes jokingly, i was dropping hints and making him slightly uncomfortable to tease him.
he blushed at my words, and i smirked, because i knew i might have had a chance with him.
"why'd you go here? i think we need to go to school," i spoke up again. "not that i never skip class, but you just don't seem like a person who would, to be honest," i added quickly with an airy chuckle.
"what can i say? i'm full of surprises," he said sassily and uninterestedly, but then he smiled, and i did too.
"what's your name?" i asked then, and he answered with a smile again.
"tyler."
"tyler is a pretty name. it suits you," i commented, and ran a hand through my hair. i smirked when i saw him look at the ground while blushing.
"where are you looking at? you're ashamed to blush? come on, everybody would blush when they would be complimented by me, it's not such a big deal," i said, because it was actually true, but i think it made him a bit pissed, because he seemed annoyed after that.
"shut up, dude. i'm not flattered at all."
still, he was blushing and so i knew i still had a chance. he was quiet after that and to make things less awkward, i just introduced myself.
"my name is josh dun, by the way. i'm seventeen years old and i don't know what else to say about myself. there's not really much to say, other from that, but now you know who i am."
"okay, um, thanks?" he said with an uncertain tone.
wow, way to go josh.
i went for plan b and just wrapped an arm around him, and he seemed pretty shocked, but i started walking, pulling him with me in the direction of the school.
"so, tyler, tell me more about yourself," i said.
oh boy, brendon's gotta pay up, i thought with a smirk.
{A/N thank you if you've read this till this far. i love y'all!}
