DEATH: I am here to stay child.
?: Why can't you leave me alone?
DEATH: Curses don't leave without will.
𓂩
DEATH is not afraid of Willow's adolescent.
From a young age, only at eight, he has experienced the kind of death you could only imagine when the world is coming to an end, and in a sick way that's exactly what happened. But going back before the dead started to wake, Death had always payed a heavy toll on Willow's life despite the fact he was only eight years old; grief was apart of him. At birth his mother died. At seven his father was shot twelve times in the ribcage to his head, and was concluded to be gang violence despite them never catching the culprits. At four his dog died from a disease that festered through her body, and at eight his uncle's throat was ripped out by his auntie in a crazed frenzy. Death was with Willow, and say to safe he was born with it. Following him around like some sort of demon that he'd been cursed with at birth.
But though Death seemed terrible to most, as it was the last time you'd be on earth or ever see them again, maybe it was all for good.
Willow could argue that it was good because his father dressed him in tight uncomfortable dresses, mostly women's, and sold him off to men after the sun set. Bruises lead on his arms, thighs and back but that was apart of the suffering; to scream with no mouth was horrifying. Begging didn't stop the man, nor did kicking or punching and screaming on the top of his lungs make the men stop that violated his privacy. His right to himself. To his soul that had been taken by the men his father got paid by. It was horrible—so Willow could argue that his father deserved it. Maybe the others hadn't but he did. He deserved every last bit of those bullets that pierced his skin and caused blood to splatter across the concrete and pierce his internal organs, but Willow still found himself crying at his death every night.
Every time he found himself angry, there was a sadness that lurked and attacked him with every punch it could muster. And it worked. It worked too well, and guilt seemed to inflict him more than anything else in the matter. Grief isn't far from Death, and they go hand in hand. Maybe even eye to eye. But people usually try and hide from Grief, because nobody wants that aching feeling in their bones or in their hearts. Willow hides from Grief, but embraces Death. Because Grief is an amputation of some sort, something that leaves you riddled and alone. Angry and empty. It leaves you without a limb you never knew you could lose until you lost it.
But now Death is everywhere, so Grief shall come with it.
But Willow doesn't know how to deal with Death like he think he does and his older cousin, with the addition of his scared girlfriend, struggle to keep his innocence alive before it withers away like a dead flower. But in a world where the experiences of Death and Grief are more often than ever, his attempts become futile as the world falls apart around them; meeting a group in Georgia struggling to survive as they are, and their children bearing Death in a new sense. Because in this new world Death is another form of childhood.
Willow knows Death like the back of his hand.

AUTHOR'S NOTES:
𓄌 Soooooooo ...... I've finally decided to post this after months of searching for faceclaims, complementing and plot decisions. Honestly i was going to post it some time ago but just never finished the intro nor have the main outline for the story planned but now I've got about everything planned and set in stone for how I want things to go. The reason I didn't just make the plot along as I wrote away was because this is long episode type of show where the episodes last about 3-5 hours maybe and there's 4 seasons. So I wanted everything to be set in stone for what I've had planned.
𓄌 TWDG is probably one of my favorite story based games ever as I watched it and played it when I was younger and immediately became attached to Clem and the series as a whole. I will say though that this fic will be long and definitely have canon divergence, but will still keep the main plot line (kinda?) It could be called an AU but honestly not really cause they'll still end up in the detention school with Marlon. I'm just gonna say Clem's age is the same, eight turning nine, Duck is about ten or so and Lip is eleven so all the kids kinda vary in age a little. Butttttttttttt the story will be greatly different from the game and I will be playing as I write for each chapter so I can make decisions and write based on how I want the story to go obviously. Hopefully I can keep up with this and stay motivated enough to keep writing and playing but we will see! Oh and as we go through each season I'll fancast each character in a chapter so u can visual them :)
𓄌 Grief is a big thing in this story as well as intergenerational curses that affect families even after death. I've been waiting to write a story about it but couldn't find the right thing to do it on.... but now I do! Introducing: a poor tormented soul WILLOW who's about eight years old when the apocalypse starts and has a good relationship with death despite his young age. His older cousin, Shawn, and his girlfriend are going to be the ones that kinda take care of him for the meantime. Willow is pretty much if Choi Namra had a baby; meaning he would bite ur neck off within seconds despite being quiet as a mouse with no remorse :3 I love him so so so much, and I'm still deciding if he should live and what's his love interest should be when he's of age. His background is very layered and his experience with death as well as his expressions about death will tie into the whole curse thing of the story.
𓄌 TRIGGER WARNINGS NOW: This story will contain mentions of sexual abuse, rape, sexual assault AND child sex trafficking. As you know TWDG has blood and gore and all of that so it's to be expected but this story will go into deeper about Rebecca's situation with Carver, as I'm pretty sure he raped her judging by the dialogue, and Will's trauma about his dad sex trafficking him to random men. I will not glorify this and I do not want you reading this to glorify any acts of sex trafficking or rape as it's something very serious especially within women and children. I will try my best to be respectful about it and will try my absolute hardest to make it seem realistic and not as something just to make Will's character have trauma; it is something very important to the story later down the line.
