Chapter 8: Shadows of the Past
The peace that followed Chronos' defeat was deceptive. Though the immediate threat had been neutralized, Teri knew better than to let his guard down. The multiverse was a fragile network of worlds, and even the smallest disruption could have catastrophic effects. And Chronos' words before his death still echoed in Teri's mind—You have no idea what's coming.
Back in the Celestial Realm, Teri stood on the balcony of the Great Spire, overlooking the endless expanse of stars. Kei and Ignis were close by, recuperating after the battle. The energy of their realm was serene, but Teri's thoughts were restless.
Ignis approached first, her fiery aura dim but still glowing. "You're thinking about Chronos, aren't you?" she asked, her voice softer than usual.
Teri didn't look away from the horizon. "He wasn't working alone. I can feel it. Someone—something—was guiding him."
Kei joined them, her wings shimmering faintly in the starlight. "We all felt it. There was a greater force behind his madness, something deeper in the multiverse."
Teri sighed, clenching his fists. "We can't afford to rest. The balance of the multiverse is still fragile. We need to find out what that force is and stop it before it takes another form."
Before the conversation could continue, a faint tremor rippled through the realm. The Celestials' eyes widened in unison. This was no ordinary disturbance.
Ignis flared with intensity, her fiery hair glowing brighter. "Another rift?"
Kei spread her wings, ready for action. "No, this is different. It's not a tear in reality—it's something... ancient."
Teri turned, his eyes glowing with celestial energy. "Let's investigate."
The three Celestials took flight, their wings carrying them across the celestial plane to the source of the disturbance. As they approached, they saw something that made their hearts race—a forgotten temple, one that had been sealed for millennia, was starting to awaken.
