Chapter 19: Jay
Left, right, left, right, dodge, jump, left, right. Jay moved around the playground, avoiding the girls who cooed at him and chanted his name in a squealing noise. He recalled the situation that had happened to him. Pearl-girl. Pretty water nymph. Flower-girl. Fast dryad. Really damn fast dryad. Him. Scary white haired cloud nymph. Similarity? Blue eyes. Willow Flower girl should have green eyes. I should have black eyes. Pearl should have brown eyes... His mind was confused.
Jay stumbled into his cloud. He took out a piece of paper and started to draw them out unwittingly. Red hair, soft blue eyes, tall figure, long legs. Willow was drawn perfectly in his perspective. Than, it was Pearl's turn. Raven black hair, deep blue eyes, slender body. Pearl-drawn-on-the-paper looked up to him with those wise eyes made him realise that them three must be somehow related. But how? He drew himself on to the picture and glanced at it. Curiosity. That was it. Hunters were curious for other realms. He must be part hunter.
"Jay Freeman! Where are you? Come out of your room, boy, and explain what this is!" Jay's mother, Celesté, was furious. "Where in the sky did you find a bottle of pearls, a willow flower and a blue jay feather? You tell me right now!"
"There is no need for you to know the truth about me, mother. The skies are for freedom. I am free. You cannot control me."
"Don't give me that sass, young man. Where did you find it!"
"Do you yearn for the truth? If you do, I shall show you." He spread his arms wide and turned invisible. Celesté shrieked.
"What trick is this? Boy!"
"Give me back Pearl-girl and Flower-girl's things then." He clamped his hand over his mouth. Pearl was a sea name and flowers were a earth thing. He totally forgot!
"Pearl-girl and Flower-girl? Are they your girlfriends? Hurry up then! WHERE-DID-YOU-FIND-THEM?"
Jay snatched the bottle back and turned visible again. He felt a tug on his hand and saw that the bottle was swirling inside. He blew out a breath and a glass bottle shattered. "Celesté Freeman. You should not have asked."
"Asked what?"
"Asked your son, who he is." Jay thrust out a hand and his mother flew back into the empty sky.
