Jay couldn't believe his eyes.

He was bored, as usual, of the squealing girls and the constant grumbling of his mom, who was complaining that he was being and idiot. Rain was mad at him for no apparent reason. And Pearl-girl, definitely Pearl-girl, had swam to the surface and breathed actual fresh air before something black covered her body and she disappeared. It must have been the Shadow from the stories. Or was it?

"Mr. Freeman! Why is your friend here at the door, asking to see you! I thought I said NO FRIENDS AT THE DOOR! You go and hang out AT THE PARK or IN THE TEEN BAR! NOT my HOUSE." his mom shrieked, "YOUNG MAN, you are SO IN TROUBLE!"

Jay grumbled and ran for the door. He opened and... Oh my heavens... it was Rain. What was he doing here?

"I thought you were mad at me!" he exclaimed.

"Nuppity nuppity nope. We're bros, right! Bros don't ditch each others." Jay smirked, "You gotta real tight mom. She need to loosen up?"

"What I think everyday, bro. Whats up?"

"Other than space? You gotta message. From one of those messenger chicks. They're real hot, ya know?"

Jay groaned. "You can't date then when you're sixteen! Wait a few more years. Where we goin'?"

"Hunter fountain. It's from this girl called, Renn? Raven? That's what it said on the front of the letter. It said CONFIDENTIAL. Ya know her?"

"Um, yea. Met her when I went out of class." That was partially true, because he knew that Raven was Pearl-girl. Even an idiot like him could figure it out.

"Can you read what she says?" Jay shoved a letter in his face, "Coz to me this is just plain strange."

Jay looked at the writing. He somehow understood it, because even in the strange characters, it felt like he was born to somehow understand it like gears turning in his brain. He looked closer: Find Willow and bring her here; the Shadow has awoken. The Shadow... the ancient baddie who turned nyphanity on each other. He was awake? Really bad.

Jay turned invisible and swooped down to land: Flower-girl had to be communicated with.
