Third person pov
Virat leads Anushka down a quiet corridor, the sounds of laughter and music fading behind them. The hallway is dimly lit, casting long shadows on the walls. He glances at her, his hand brushing lightly against her arm. “I wanted to show you something.” he says, his voice soft yet purposeful.
Anushka hesitates. “Where are we going.?”
“Just wait and watch.” Virat replies with a playful grin.
They reach a door at the end of the hallway, and Virat opens it. The room is dark, with only the faint glow of moonlight streaming through a small window. The air feels cooler here, almost eerie in its silence.
Anushka glances around, unease creeping over her. “Virat, it’s really dark in here.” she says, her voice wavering. Flashbacks rush through her mind, and she instinctively grabs Virat’s hand, her grip tight.
Virat notices her discomfort immediately. “It’s okay. I’m here.” he reassures her. But Anushka takes a step back toward the door.
“I—I don’t feel comfortable here. Please, let’s go.” she admits, her voice trembling.
Virat, seeing her distress, offers a gentle smile. “I’ll turn on the light. You stay right here.” He moves toward the light switch, but Anushka pulls him back urgently.
“No, please don’t leave me alone.” she whispers, her voice breaking.
Virat’s expression softens as he takes her hands in his. “Let’s find the switch together.” he says gently. Anushka nods, her anxiety easing a little as they search for the switch. Once the light flickers on, the room becomes brighter and more welcoming. Virat hands her a bottle of water, and she sits on the sofa, taking slow, hesitant sips.
Virat moves toward the door, closing it gently. He sits beside her, his hand resting on hers. “Are you okay.?” he asks softly.
Anushka nods, but Virat’s gaze hardens with determination. “I don’t know who did this to you, but I swear, they will pay for it. No one who hurts someone like you deserves to walk free.”
Anushka sets the bottle on the table, her eyes meeting his. “How do you know it was a guy? It could’ve been a girl too.” she teases, raising an eyebrow.
Virat looks at her in shock, then her words sink in, and she chuckles. “I love the look of yours.”
Anushka laughs again, and for a moment, the tension between them dissolves. But Virat’s tone grows serious as he gazes into her eyes. “Seriously, Anushka, it’s not about who did it. It’s about standing up for what’s right—protecting those who can’t protect themselves. And I would do anything to make sure you, or anyone else, is never hurt. You deserve respect, love, and safety, always.”
He holds her hand a little tighter, the touch sending a warm, reassuring feeling through her. Their eyes lock, the air around them charged with an undeniable closeness. Virat steps in a little closer, gently brushing her hand with his.
Just as the moment becomes more intimate, a knock interrupts the silence. Shubman’s voice calls from the other side. “Virat bhai, are you in there?”
Virat sighs, clearly frustrated, but he calls back, “One second.” and opens the door.
Shubman enters with a sheepish grin. “Hey, sorry to interrupt, but I need your help with something,” he says to Virat. “Do you have a spare… uh… condom? I know it’s a weird ask, but it’s kind of urgent.”
Anushka quickly looks away to avoid the awkwardness, but Virat, though amused, responds, “It’s behind the TV in the living room.” He leans closer to Shubman, whispering, “Be safe. Need any suggestions?”
Shubman shakes his head. “Thanks for the advice, but I’ll handle it. Appreciate it though.” He exits quickly, trying to avoid any further awkwardness.
As Virat turns back to Anushka, his hand gently cups her cheek, and she places a soft kiss on it. They lean in, just about to share a moment, when another knock sounds at the door.
“Virat bhai, Anushka? Sorry to bother you, but I need some advice.” Rishabh calls from the other side.
Virat, now clearly irritated, opens the door, blocking Rishabh’s entrance. “What now, Rishabh?”
Rishabh enters anyway. “I need help with Sasha. She’s been avoiding me, and I’m not sure how to fix things.”
Anushka, trying to regain her composure, suggests, “Maybe you should just talk to her honestly about how you feel.”
Virat, eager to wrap things up, adds with a grin, “Anushka is right. Just talk to her, man.”
Rishabh nods. “I’ll try. Thanks.” He exits, leaving Virat and Anushka alone at last.
But just as they think they’ve finally gotten some peace, Virat and Anushka sits very close and the door swings open again—this time, it’s Rahul. “Hey, Virat bhai, do you—oh, sorry, I’ll come back later.” he says, quickly backing out as he realizes the situation.
Anushka laughs, a mix of frustration and amusement. “Seriously? Why everyone is coming to this room only.?”
Virat smiles and pulls her close. “Well, what do you want now?”
Rahul grins from the doorway. “Nothing. You two are romancing in the library; anybody could walk in here anytime.” Rahul steps inside the room and sits on the arm chair.
Anushka looks around the room, spotting the rows of books on the shelves. “Looks like a college library.”
“Just a collection of novels.” Virat explains. “We read them in our free time, and if the story’s good, we try to get permission from the author to turn it into a movie.”
“Ah, I see.” Anushka says, glancing at the bookshelves.
Rahul turns to Virat. “We’re struggling to find new stories for our web series production. The ones we’ve heard are terrible.”
Virat nods. “We still have time. Let’s wait and see.”
Anushka’s attention falls on a book resting on the table. “I’ve read this one. It’s such a good book.”
“Yeah, I’ve read the first few pages. It looks interesting,” Rahul responds.
Virat with curiosity asks. “Which book?”
Anushka picks it up and shows it to Virat. “It’s called Heirs of the Crown by Author Ak.” she adds with a smile. “It’s such a good book, you could easily make two or three seasons out of this.” (Author shamelessly promoting her new book, sorry 😜).
Virat takes the book from her hands. “Heirs of the Crown? A political family drama. Sounds interesting.”
Anushka nods enthusiastically. “This book has so many twists and turns—emotion, drama, romance. It’s a complete package.”
Virat flips through the pages. “Then I definitely need to read it.”
They chat for a few more minutes before finally leaving the library.

The next afternoon, Virat and Rahul sit at the dining table with their parents. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, but there’s an underlying energy in the air as they discuss their next big project.
Virat starts the conversation. “Dad, I read this book last night. It’s really good. We should produce a web series based on it.”
Savi immediately looks at Virat. “You finished reading the book in one night? You, who never touched a book in school?” Savi laughs.
“Mom, I’m serious. This book is really good.” Virat says.
“I read a few pages too, and it’s nice.” Rahul joins in.
“So, you two want to produce a web series on Heirs of the Crown.?” Kabir asks, raising an eyebrow.
Virat leans forward, his enthusiasm evident. “We think it’s perfect for a series, Dad. The twists, the drama, the politics—it has everything. We’re sure the audience will love it.”
Rahul chimes in. “And we have some ideas on how to adapt it for the screen. It’s fresh, and it’ll stand out.”
Kabir nods thoughtfully, tapping his fingers on the table. “I agree, if you both insist. But the first step is to get permission from the author. Without that, we can’t move forward.”
Virat and Rahul exchange a look. “We’ll handle that.” Virat says confidently. “We’ll reach out to the author and get the necessary rights to adapt it.”
Savi, who’s been listening quietly, smiles warmly at her sons. “I’m sure you’ll make it happen. Just make sure you do everything by the book. No shortcuts.”
“Of course, Mom,” Rahul replies. “Don’t give full credit to us. Give some credit to Anushka too.”
“Anushka?” Savi asks, raising an eyebrow.
“Yes, Mom. She gave the idea,” Virat enthusiastically tells her.
“Oh!” Savi smiles just as Shubman, the birthday boy, comes and sits down. “Good afternoon, guys…” Shubman says tiredly.
“It’s good afternoon, Shub. You look tired. What happened?” Kabir asks.
“Ah… I’m tired because of the party, Dad,” Shubman lies.
Rahul turns toward Virat and whispers, “Just one night, and our little bro looks too tired.”
“Experience matters. He’ll learn,” Virat whispers back, and they laugh quietly……
