Chapter 1 Inside the Great Deku Tree
This is a story, about something that happened to a young girl and her grandparents. Samantha Green is a 10-year-old girl who loves adventures.
She lived in Chicago, Illinois with her grandparents on a farm. Her grandfather was a professor. Studying magic and even other worlds. Her grandmother was a farm wife. She helped around the farm with Samantha and their four farmers, Tommy, Billy-Boy, Johnny, and Bone. Really, just Bone.
Samantha was three years old when she moved into her grandparents. Her parents died of murder and suicide. Now she was only ten years old.
One day, at the small farmhouse, Samantha was running up to the main gate. She just came home from school and she was excited to tell her grandparents something.
"Grandma! Grandpa!" Samantha finally found the Professor and his wife, but they looked rather busy. "Grandma! Grandpa! Guess what. I now know what I want to be."
"Samantha, not now," her grandmother replied, "we are busy."
The Professor sighed and turned to his granddaughter. "What is it, Samantha. We are listening."
"I want to be an actress," Samantha said.
Her grandfather looked surprised. Really? An actress? That surprised him because he has seen her true talent. She always loved to write. She learning to write as a novelist now, but an actress?
"Really? What got interested," he asked.
"Lucy. I like her show and I really loved to be like her. It looks so easy."
As for her grandfather, he was surprised. She always had an interest in writing. All because of the stories he told her about his ice as a boy. Her favorites were when he and (Grandma) Polly-Anne went to the world of Hyrule by his aunt. Well, you will hear about that in another story.
"That's nice, but what about writing stories like you always wanted to do?"
"Stories are for babies," the 10-year old giggled.
The professor just sighed. Forever since he started reading bedtime stories, she wanted to be a story writer. Now she changed her mind? Well, she was just a kid, but he still believed that her being a novelist was her true calling. Still, whatever she chooses, it's her choice. Hopefully, she chooses the right choice.
"Besides, my school is opening this new play. It's called the Legendary Hero of Time."
"Oh, I see," the Professor smiled.
"I hope I get the part as either the hero or the princess." Samantha smiled, "I can fight." The 10-year-old then swerved her arms around like she had a sword. She even made some fighting sounds. Her grandfather just chuckled and smiled.
"Well, that sounds great, sweetie, but your grandmother is also right about one thing."
"What's that?" Samantha spun around and asked him.
"We are busy. And you think you can help the boys with their chores?"
"...ok, grandpa," she sighed. The little girl then walked away and went over to the pigpen. There Billy-Boy was tending the pigs.
"Oh, Sam, good to see ya, kiddo," Billy-Boy smiles.
Sam just waved. She climbed up on the fence and sat down on the ledge watching him feed the pigs. The pink yet dirty animals snorted and oinked in their filthy pen. Billy-Boy turned to Sam while he shook a bucket of feed into their trough.
"Listen, kid, I think being an actress is swell in all, but you sure you want to be one? I mean it's a lot of work."
"I know." Sam smiled.
"Why not be a novelist? That's writing and more grown-up?"
Sam looked down. Some part of her was telling her she should be a novelist, and part of her said she should be a factor. She just sighed.
"Tough choice, huh?" Billy-Boy asked, "I know how that feels, kid. But you will know what you are made for someday."
Sam slightly smiled, looking up at the farmer. He and the other two farmers were her good friends. Technically, her only friends.
Professor Green was in the attic working on the machine that was top secret to the family and to anyone out of the family. Samantha though was asked by her grandfather to see him in the attic. Once she arrived, she looked around the place and amazed seeing potion bottles, steam out of cooking pots, and flashing buttons. She found her grandfather who was by one of the desks across the room. Samantha then walked up to him slowly.
"You wanted to see me, grandpa?" The ten-year-old girl asked.
The old man turned around and smiled seeing his granddaughter standing there. She looked curious as to if she was wondering what he wanted.
"Yes, sweetie, I did. Come here," he took her to another table in the other part of the attic and there he showed her a strange looking watch. Where the face of the clock was it showed a green diamond and in the diamond looked like a triangle in thirds with one piece missing in the middle.
"What's this thing?" Samantha asked.
"This is called an Tritrix. It scans DNAs of animals and other creatures, even aliens," her grandfather smiled, he turned to her face. The look upon her face made her look like she was interested in the strange device.
Professor Green chuckled, "You want to try it on?"
Samantha nodded. So he took it off from the stand and strapped it on her wrist. Samantha looked at the strange watch and turned it on, before she did her grandfather stopped her, "Um, there is another thing I want you to see. You know those stories I told you about that place called Hyrule?"
"How could I forget?"
Mr. Green chuckled and took her to the machine. "Well, what I am about to show you is that my adventure was real."
Samantha looked inside the machine. It was a small room with the door that had the only window. Samantha turned her head to her grandfather, "What is this?"
"A magic machine," he chuckled nervously and scratched the back of her neck. "That's what I call it. So basically it's a machine that can bring anything or anyone into that world."
Samantha turned to him surprised. "Are you sure it works?"
"I have tested it with one of our chickens and so far it has. I mean he has disappeared."
Samantha turned back to the small room in the machine and back to her grandfather. Well, she always wanted to go to Hyrule. It seemed so real to her. "So, you want me to go inside and see this place?"
"Of course. Besides, I am sure you will love it." Professor Green smiled.
Samantha then climbed inside. His grandfather held her hand so she could face him, "Be careful though honey. There some places that are dangerous. Stay with a friend of mine, he's the king there. He will guide you. Or even have someone with you?" He smiled and hugged her. "Tell him you're my granddaughter and he will know." He then kissed her forehead, "I love you sweetie, and I will see you when you come back." He shut the door and went over to a stand by the machine of flashing buttons and a lever. Once pressing a few buttons he pulled the lever and watched. Sparks of electricity appeared, sparking the whole machine. He was also hoping this would not fear his little granddaughter.
Samantha watched and waited to feel the whole place shaking. She closed her eyes. Soon she opened them again and found herself in a jet stream of light and slowly dropping to the ground below her.
Samantha finally found herself in a forest and before her was a giant tree. It also appeared the tree had a face. Dark brown bark eyebrows and same color under his nose which looked like a mustache.
Suddenly, he spoke to her. "Welcome, young one. Welcome to the Kokiri Forest."
Samantha Green froze. Did that tree just talk to me?
"Yes I did, child," the tree spoke again. He could read minds too!? Well, that is surprising.
"I am the Great Deku Tree," he replied, "the ruler of this land, and the protector of the people, creatures, and the animals here."
Samantha looked shy at the great tree. Right now she did not know how to speak to the tree. Except tell him her name.
"Um, I am Samantha. Samantha Green."
"I know who you are, child, I know your grandfather. Besides, you have his eyes," the Tree responded.
"You do know him?"
"Of course, child. He came here once I and the goddesses created this land. But, now is not the time to tell you this. Something evil has happened. I will send a fairy with you to find a special boy. A boy named Link. He is around your age and you both are the only hope for us now," suddenly, a little ball of light with wings appeared.
"Hello," she said softly.
"This is Navi. She will go with you to bring Link to me. Go Navi and Samantha, find our little friend."
With that, Samantha followed the blue fairy to Kokiri Forest. Where children elves lived in. They were also...staring at Samantha. Why?
"Why are they all staring at me?" Samantha asked.
"Maybe because you look funny?" Navi giggled.
The two girls finally got to a treehouse. Samantha climbed up to the entrance and followed Navi inside. Still, this was not a polite way to come inside someone's house without permission.
"Hello," Navi spoke happily to the boy, "I am Navi, and this is Samantha Green the human. We were sent by the Great Deku Tree to sent you to him."
As for the small elf boy, Samantha could see he was about her height. He even had blonde hair like hers, and pointy ears. His clothes looked bright green and looked more like a long shirt that went down close to his knees. He was also wearing brown boots and a long green cap. The boy was still asleep, so Navi started flying at him like a fly pestering someone.
"Hey! Can Hyrule's destiny really depend on such a lazy boy!?"
Finally, Link woke up. The 10-year old elf yawned and sat up on his bed.
"Oh good, you're awake," Navi said, "Hello again, I am Navi, I will be your fairy, and this is Samantha Green the human. The Great Deku Tree sent us here to bring you to him."
"Really?" The boy gasped, "The Great Deku Tree?"
"Yes, but before we do, we must get you armed. The Great Deku Tree needs our help. We need to get you a sword and a shield."
"And training?" Samantha asked, "Besides my grandfather gave me this watch and I believe it's a weapon of some sort."
"Of course training, silly girl," Navi giggled, "And sure, we should see that watch of yours."
With that, the two of them and Navi got out of the treehouse. Suddenly, a young Kokiri girl came over. "Yahoo! Hey, Link."
Link jumped down from the ladder and greeted the green-haired girl. Samantha climbed down and came over shyly.
"Oh, a fairy finally came to you, this is wonderful news, Link. I knew someday a fairy would come to you," then she saw Samantha, "Link, who's your new friend?"
"Oh, Saria, this is Samantha Green. She's a human," Link replied.
"Hello, I am Saria, it's nice to meet you," Saria smiled.
"Hi," Samantha waved shyly.
"Anyway, the Great Deku Tree has even asked me to come."
Saria gasped, "That means you have been chosen, Link," Saria smiled, "I am so happy for you," then she hugged him. Link smiled and hugged the elf girl back.
"Now now now," Navi smiled, "I know you are good friends and all, but we have to get you two the Great Deku Tree."
"Navi, is right, come on," Samantha grabbed Link's wrist and they ran up to the river, but she then stopped and turned to Saria, "Oh, and it was nice meeting you, Saria."
Samantha took Link up the hill where Navi was leading them to. One kokiri kid saw them and frowned.
"Hold right there," he said, "Where do you think you're going Mr. No Fairy?"
"Um...I have a fairy now," Link said.
"What!? That's your fairy? Unbelievable. Still if you, the fairy and your friend want to meet the Great Deku Tree, then you must equip a sword and a shield."
"Well then, let's go," Navi said to Link and Sam.
Link smiled and took Sam and Navi the fairy to another part of the wood. Sam then looked amazed by this place. Right now she had to think while they head to the training area.
Was this a dream? She had to be dreaming before her grandfather placed her in the machine. And the watch? It was still on her wrist. Her grandfather said he made it for her, but exactly could this thing do?
Her thoughts were interrupted by Link who was shaking her shoulder, "You ok, there?"
"Y-yeah. Just thinking." Sam exhaled.
Link smiled at her and they head to the small hole against a stone wall. "This is the way to find the sword." He crawled in and Sam followed him behind. Once they got out into the open, they looked around, "Alright," Link said, "Follow me. These roads are very tricky because we have rolling boulders."
Sam just nodded her head and followed Link. Could the watch help them to get through, though? Maybe only after they get out. Soon Link came to a chest and opened it up. There was a Koirki Sword.
Link then strapped the sword belt over his should to his hip. He then nodded to Sam and Navi and they head back. Turns out it was so easy to get back to the tunnel that Sam did not need to use the watch. Soon the two children and the fairy rushed to the shop near the entrance to the Great Deku Tree.
They head inside and Link paid his emerald rubies (but they were called Rupees in Hyrule), and got a shield. Then they rushed out and head to the entrance. There was the mean Mido the same Kokiri child that blocked the entrance
"Hold it," he grunted, "you still can't...wait is that a shield. And," he paused a moment looking at Link's sword, "A Kokiri Sword! I can't believe it!" Mido huffed and scoffed at the two of them, "Still, you not one of us. You will never be one of us. I don't understand why the Great Deku Tree chose you." Mido walked to the side of the entrance and left a evil glare at Link and the human girl. They both walked in the entrance and came forward to the Great Deku Tree.
"Great Deku Tree?" Navi spoke, "We have returned."
There was a moment of silence, then the Great Deku Tree finally spoke. "Oh...Navi...thou hast returned. Link...Samantha...welcome...Listen carefully to what I, the Deku Tree, am about to tell thee...Thy slumber these past moons must have been restless, and full of nightmares for both."
Sam thought for a bit. Yes it was true. How did he know that she had nightmares going on. We're the same as Link's? A strange monster man harming them. As well a green man in black attacking her and Link on a black horse?
"...as the servants of evil gain strength, a vile climate pervades the land and causes nightmares to those sensitive to it...," well the tree was right there. He had point. Sam was a sensitive girl, but she believed she could be strong for anything. Her grandfather sent her here for some reason, and this had to be it, helping the Deku Tree and her new friend Link.
"Verily, thou has felt it...," Deku Tree continued, "Link, Samantha Amy Green, the time has come to rest thy courage...I have been...," the tree sounded more like he was choked up now. Like he was crying, "...cursed...I need you both to break the curse with your wisdom and courage. Dost thou have the courage enough to undertake this task?"
Sam's lips went dry. She didn't know how to answer this great tree. Link answered, "Yes, sir."
Sam had to say yes, even though, she did not know what her watch-her grandfather gave her-could do, but she replied, "yes."
"Then enter, brave Link, Samantha, and thou Navi. Navi the fairy...thou must aid Link and Samantha...and Link, Samantha...when Navi speaks, listen well to her words of wisdom."
With that he opened his mouth. It appeared like the trunk of his bark shifted downward like a door sliding down into the ground.
Link and Navi rushes in, but Sam stayed. Navi stopped and turned to the human, "hey, listen," Navi said to her. Sam looked up at the blue fairy, "C'mon! Be brave!" Navi said, "let's go into the Great Deku Tree."
Sam then nodded, "You're right."
"And don't worry, I will help you." Navi smiled. They both head inside the great Deku.
Once inside the great Deku tree, brave little Link and Samantha were quite Nervous. The blue fairy encourage them by saying, " don't be afraid, I'm gonna be by your side no matter what happens. We are in this together."
Link walked a few more steps inside. As for Samantha, she walked very slowly in. The presents of the atmosphere, felt unwelcoming. Cold. Dark, and evil.
"Come on, we don't have much time," the blue fairy cried out. The children walked inside together. Suddenly, Navi called out, "Hey, listen!" Link and Sam turned to her, "Look, look, Link and Sam!" You can see down below this web."
Sam and Link looked through the holes of the web and noticed there was another level of the tree.
"Something tells me somehow we are supposed to go down that way," Sam said, "but how?"
Link looked up, "that way," he pointed upward, "we can jump off of that ledge and rip the web through."
"Let's try it," Navi said, "and look at this wall! The vines growing on it gives ur a rough surface...Maybe you can climb it, Link and Sam."
Sam though wasn't a great climber. She tried once Link did, and well fell. She looked at the watch. She pressed a yellow button on it and suddenly the face blade popped out, "woe," she gasped and looked back down at it. A hologram of a creature appeared. This one was some sort of plant creature. She pressed it down and she instantly was transformed.
"What just happened to you!?" Link and Navi gasped.
"I-I don't know. I am a salad creature!" Sam gasped.
"Calm down. I knew that strange device would be helpful," Navi said, "now try getting yourself up here."
Sam threw her vine arm out towards Link. Link gasped and screamed jumping out of the way. "Not at me," the Kokiri kid screamed.
"Sorry," Sam said and pulled herself up to them.
"Watch out," Navi said above them, "a Skullwalltula. Be careful not to touch it!"
"Ewe, I hate spiders," Sam growled.
Link started to climb, but Sam grabbed him with her vine arms.
"Hey!" Link cried out at her.
"I got a better idea!" Sam said, "let's go see another idea to get up there, like that door over there." Sam pointed out far from them past the skull spiders a strange door.
"Okay, talking plant," Link growled.
They head inside, but what greeted them was a strange deku scrub. Link grabbed his shield and protected himself by having the scrub's nuts bounce off and hit himself instead, "EEEK," the scrub screamed. He tried running away from them, but Sam threw her vine arms at him and grabbed the little scrub, "Ow-ow-ow!" Deku scrub screamed, "Forgive, masters! If I give you a clue, will you let me go?"
Link looked at Sam. Sam nodded.
"Yes" Link replied.
"Well...when you jump off a high cliff, move forward, you will roll on the ground when you land and won't damage your health from the fall. I can't guarantee it will work, though, if the cliff is really, really high, heh heh! Well try it if you're feeling lucky, Masters. Thank you!" With that, the Scrub hopped away gleefully and the door opened again, the one they entered in. And the one infront of them. Link and Sam walked inside and found themselves in another room with a floating platform before them.
"Can this guy fly?" Link asked.
"I doubt it, but I can try," Sam sighed grabbing him once Navi flew inside his cap. Sam then leaped across. Luckily she made it tot he plateform, but it started to shake, "Move!" Link screamed, realizing it was not supposed to last long, Sam then leaped again. The ledge before them was too far way and now they were failing. Well this creature proved it couldn't fly. Sam then threw her vine arm and swung themselves upon the ledge to safety.
"We made it!" Navi cheered.
Link then turned and saw a trunk. He rushed forward and opened it up and inside was a Fairy Slingshot. No it was a size for fairies. It was perhaps made by them. Link slipped the slingshot inside his pocket and turned to Sam, "I guess we have to climb up where we came in, but now we have a weapons to get those skullwalltulas with this!" Link said, with excitement.
The two kids and Navi returned back. Link used his slingshot to shoot the small spider creatures, then Sam picked up Link and swung them up to the top. Then they froze once Navi screamed, "Watch Out! A Big Skulltula!" Navi cried out, "It's soft belly is its weak spot!"
With that, Link strike it once it turned it back towards them. Two blows and it was dead.
"Ewe, ewe, ewe, I hate spiders!" Sam whined.
"This is very high for us now to make the jump, "Navi suggested the children.
"Now she tells us," Link huffed.
"Keep your hat on and make the jump kid," Sam said.
Link frowned at her, "ok, talking plant," the ten year old boy snarled. Link then leaped forward and crashed down to the web. Sam dives down and grabbed him in time and grabbed the edge of the hole. She set Link down on the ground. Suddenly, Sam heard beeping and looked down, "Oh man, what's happening?!" Suddenly, she was transformed back into human. She lost her grip and screamed falling down, but suddenly Link caught her in time, "next time, fall before going back to normal, shape shifter!"
Sam frowned, "but thank you, hero."
"Sure," Link smirked. He set her down and they looked around the lower part of the Great Deku Tree.
"Hmm, this part of the place looks more like a puzzle," Sam said.
"How can you tell?"
"I watch a lot of action movies." Sam smiled.
"What's a...movie?"
"Uh...I mean, that block over has be for something, right?" Sam blushed, pointing across from them a strange looking block with a crescent moon symbol on it.
"I...I guess." Link replied.
"Somehow we have to get across over there. Look!" Sam found a door beyond the web. Sam looked at her watch. She turned it on and smacked it down. Nothing happened. "Huh?" Sam looked down and the color changed to red. "It must be still recharging," Sam said, "dang it. We have to find another way to burn this web."
Link was walking around looking for a clue, when Sam noticed he was about to step on some sort of strange stone, "Link! Watch out!"
"Huh!" Too late, Link stepped on the button and turns it out it wasn't a trap. A torch lit up beside them. Sam then smiled, "Awesome work, Link," she squealed happily.
"Pfft, and you Navi, though I was not worthy for this job!"
Navi then sighed.
Link took out a deku stick and lit it on fire, they both ran over to the door and the web opened the doorway. Once inside they kids were greeted once again another scrub.
"Please don't hurt me!" The scrub squeaked, "I'll never do it again! If you spare me, I'll teach you all something cool!"
"Alright," Link put his sword back in his pouch, "Speak."
"You will never beat my brothers' up ahead unless you punish them in the proper order. The order is 3-2-1. Three, twenty-one is the answer. Oh my I am a traitor!" He hopped away terrified.
"Ok...that last thing was weird." Sam said.
"Come on," Link said. They looked around and found another door, but it was blocked by bars.
"You can't open them with your hands." Navi spoke.
"Hey, look," Sam point up.
Link and Navi looked and saw a eye symbol above the door. Link then had an idea. He took out his slingshot and aim at the eye, "Maybe if it's closed..." smack!
The eye went completely shut once Link hit it with his Deku seeds. They walked inside find themselves in another room. Link looked at Sam for help.
"I still can't do anything, it's still charging." Sam answered him.
"Great." Link sighed.
"But look," Navi said, "there's something in the water for you guys to get, maybe it can help."
They dived in and found a switch. Both of the children pressed the witch and water started to go down. They head back to the ledge again and Sam had an idea, "quick let's jump on this platform we won't get hurt now and be able to get across.
Once that was over they can to another room with two door ways. One was blocked, but looked like it was a secret passage. They would look into it later so they head down to the trench.
"I hate small places," Sam whined.
They finally got back where they came from, but where the block was of the small area. Sam had another idea, "Link, I got it! We have to move that block toward those torches so we can this entrance for us to get to that curse."
"If you insist."
The children did the plan and soon fell into a small pool of water. That saved them. They swam to shore and stood infront of the scrubs. These must be the brothers that the one scrub was talking about. So Link took out his shield and the nuts bounces off hitting each other by the order the scrub them in.
"Ow!" The third scrub cried in pain. "How did you know about our secret order!? Whatever, since you found out, you might as well know the secret of Queen Gamora. You must stun her in order to hit her in the eye. Ooh Queenie," he cried.
Link shrugged and he, Sam, and Navi rushes to the door.
The atmosphere here was much more worse than before when they walked in the entrance of the Deku Tree. It was more darker, and just cold. All around them was fog. Suddenly, Link stopped and had his arm out to protect Sam. They both and Navi saw a yellow glowing ball on the ceiling. Wait...it wasn't a ball...it was an eye. A very mean looking one. The creature dropped to the floor before the 10 year olds and the fairy, and made a roaring noise.
"Now is it a good time to transform to that plant?" Link gasped.
"Sam looked once she heard a ding noise from the watch, "Yes it's recharged!" Sam then turned it on and saw a different hologram of a different creature.
"Ok? Whose this guy?" Sam asked.
"You look like you can run really fast for those kinds of legs," Link said.
Sam looked at herself. He's right. The style of her body made her look fast. She even had a tail behind her. She couldn't quite make out her looks since it was dark, but maybe this creature as they thought could be fast.
Gorma charged at them, but Link threw a Deku tree nut at her eye and Sam rushed in super human speed and strike her in the eye. They were right, this creature was super fast. Gorma rush backwards and went back on the ceiling, "what she doing?" Sam gasped.
"I don't know!" Link cried out.
"Look out!" Navi cried.
Strange squishy texture like balls fell down before them.
"That's Gorma larva. Kill it fast!" Navi cried.
Link strike at them and there were no more larva. This is was how it was for four tries killing the monster. Finally she was no more than a pile of smoke infront of them.
"Let's gets out of here!" Navi said.
Once returned...
"Well done, Link and Samantha...," a voice said. Before them was the great Deku Tree. They were now back out of the tree and standing before him.
Link and Sam bowed to him on their knees.
"Thou has verily demonstrated thy courage...I knew that thou wouldst be able to carry out my wishes...," Link and Sam then rose and faced the tree.
"Now I have yet more to tell ye, wouldst thou listen?"
"Yes, Deku Tree," the children answered.
"Now...listen carefully...A wicked man of the desert cast this dreadful curse upon me..."
Through the flames of Fire was a black knight on a black horse riding through. "This man was full power, but yet blind. This evil man ceaselessly uses his vile, sorcerous powers in his search for the Sacred Realm that is connected to Hyrule...for it is in that Sacred Realm that one will find the divine relic, the Triforce, which contains the essence of the gods...
"Before time itself, before spirits and life existed...
Three golden goddesses descended upon the chaos that was Hyrule...
Din, the goddess of power...
Nayru, the goddess of wisdom...
Farore, the goddess of courage...
"Din... with her strong flaming arms, she cultivated the land and created the red earth.
Nayru... poured her wisdom onto the earth and gave the spirit the law to the world.
Farore...with her rich soul, produced all life forms which would uphold the law.
"The three great goddesses, their labors completed, departed for the heavens. And golden sacred triangles remained at the point where the goddesses left the world. Since then, the sacred triangles have become the basis of our world's providence. And the resting place of the triangles has become the Sacred Realm....
"Thou must never allow any evil to lay their hands on the sacred Triforce...Thou must never suffer the evil, with their evil hearts, to enter the Sacred Realm of legend...The evil who cast the death curse upon me and sapped my power...Because if that curse, my end is nigh...Though your valiant efforts to break the curse we're successful. I was doomed before you children had started...Yes, I will pass away soon...but do not grieve for me...," the tree wanted to tell them something, but that wasn't important it seemed, "I have been able to tell you of these important matters, my children,...This is...you both ARE Hyrule's finale hope...."
Link and Sam got up and had tears building their eyes.
"Great Deku—," Link was interrupted by the tree.
"Link, Sam...go now to Hyrule Castle...the man in black armor is there...and also there, thou will surely meet the Princess of Destiny...take this Stone with you. The stone that man wanted so much..."
A bright emerald light appeared before the children. Navi then said, "It's the Kokiri Emerald! This is the spiritual stone of the forest, now entrusted to us by the Great Deku Tree."
"The future depend on thee, Link and Samantha...Thou Art courageous ones...Navi the fairy...help Link and Samantha to carry out my will...I...entreat...ye...Navi...go...now..."
A silent moment and Navi said goodbye and her and Link left. Sam was stopped by the tree.
"Samantha, I must tell you something...the man in black armor did not do this to me. I know that's what thou thinks, but there is evil here I knew longer than that man...when your grandfather was young and came here since the day of Hyrule creation...you will have to fight the man in black armor, but years later in your adventures, you must fight side by side with him, for he must know what his true purpose is...I seen good in him...thou is just...confused...you...Link...and the Princess will show him the right path...and soon you will find more powers your device can do...I trust thou's grandfather...he's a good man...and dear friend to all of Hyrule...fair well, my child...," with that the Great Deku Tree took his last breath. The color of his bark turned gray, the leaves faded. There was no longer life inside him. Sam teared up seeing him gone. It was true she just met him, but this tree must knew so much about her.
Sam turned her head instantly hearing Navi shout, "Let's go to Hyrule Castle, Link and Sam!!"
"Goodbye...Greak Deku Tree." Sam said softly, "We will save Hyrule...for everyone...for you." Sam turned and followed the others.
"Hey, Link! New kid! What did you both do?!" Mido shouted at them both, "The Great Deku Tree...did he...die? How could you do a thing like that?! It's all your fault!!" With that, Mido stormed off.
Sam and Link sighed and went to look for Saria first before heading out to their adventure. Once they return to Link's house, she want there. Where was Saria? No time to loose, they had to go now.
Link and Sam head to the exist, but a Kokiri boy stopped them, "you can't leave, if you leave, you will never come back."
"We will." Link said.
"...Promise?"
"We promise," Link smiled and they rushed out.
Link and Sam stopped on a wooden bridge and looked out through lost woods. The moment of silence was ended by a small sad yet familiar voice.
"Oh, you're both leaving...," Link and Sam looked and saw it was Saria.
"I'm sorry," Link said looking down. Saria then hugged him comfortably, "it's alright. I knew...that you would leave the forest...someday, Link...because you are different from me and my friends...but that's ok, because we'll be friends forever...won't we?"
Link looked at her, "Of course."
"I want you to have this ocarina...please take good care of it."
Link picked it up and examined it. Navi whispers to him, "it's a fairy ocarina. A memento from Saria."
"When you play my ocarina, I hope you will think of me and come back to visit the forest and visit."
Link nodded and he and Sam left.
Saria watched them disappear through the empty void of darkness that led to the field of Hyrule. So, the adventure began for these two new friends, Link and Sam to save Hyrule and Princess Zelda.
This is...Ocarina of Time.
