Chapter 10: The Ball
It was beautiful! Last year I heard two women gossiping saying that we tried to hard, so we went simple. When the royal family came in we bowed. She was wearing a beautiful dress, but I saw in some history book you can tell what dresses are casual by looking at the material and detail. She'd gotten the invitation saying formal, and still dressed casual! She thought none of us touched a text book. Adrenaline kicked, and I walked up to the royal family. "Good evening Queen Ariel" I bowed. "That dress looks stunning! Much like the detail that determines whether the dress is casual or formal" I said. She gave me a funny look. "It was for a school project" I lied.
"Well based on the venue I thought that the invitation had a typo" she replied. Did she just call the venue I picked out trash? This bi- queen wants to he dirty? It's good her clothes aren't too formal.
"I actually picked out the venue, your highness" I said as calmly as I could.
"I like the theme, I guess" she is said as if that fixed everything.
"Great! We'll be passing out Oscar's" I said. Just then someone came up behind me, and said "Queen Ariel! It is so lovely to meet your acquaintance" It was Lizzie!
"Queen Ariel, may I introduce you to the heiress, the leader of the pack, and personally my best friend" I introduced. Ariel looked surprised that Lizzie didn't look as disgusting and hairy as she claimed werewolves to look.
"I like your dress it looks just like the cloth my maid uses to clean to dust the blinds."
"Ariel" King Eric said. I could tell he tried to keep his voice down, but me and Lizzie heard him.
"Well you must use very fine cloth your Majesty" I said.
"I guess I never noticed" she replied. It was quiet between us.
"Well I better go check on how everyone is doing" I said. I quickly texted Fern that everything was back on. Lizzie and I DJ'ed for awhile and when a slow song played we stood awkwardly in front of the DJ station.
"Lizzie can you check on Oscar for me?" I asked.
"Why?" She said.
"The nomination is about to start, and I'm to lazy to go see if everything is going smoothly" I explained.
"Fiiinneee" she sighed. I texted Fern to tell Oscar to somehow walk towards the DJ station. I prayed that they would bump into each other. They did and I kinda sorta snooped a little bit. And I remember every millisecond of it! It went like this.
"Sorry! Are you OK?" Oscar asked.
"I'm fine thanks. I was just looking for you" Lizzie replied.
"Really?" He said.
"Yeah Ebony wanted me to check on how all the tech stuff is going" she explained.
"Oh. We have these earpieces, so if anything goes wrong they don't have to wait as long" At that point I couldn't take it anymore.
"Omg Lizzie I just realized! You need a date! You are the heiress to the throne, and the queen is obsessed with true love" I said. She knew I was lying, because I've been bugging her about getting a date all week. "OK so what do I do?" She asked.
"Uhmm, Dance with Oscar! You'll seem desperate if you go searching for anybody else" I suggested.
"Are you OK with this?" Olivia asked.
"Yeah! I don't mind" he said. I watched them dance the whole time. They were awkward at first, but they seemed to be leaning in. Not to kiss, but to be close to each other. When the song ended I saw a familiar face sneak up behind Oscar. "Oh my god!" Lizzie said tearing up.
"What? Is there something on my face?" Oscar asked. It was Lizzie's mother. Lizzie has parents like mine. One socially accepted and one socially misunderstood. Lizzie's mom is a human. She doesn't like telling people that, but she loves her mom. They hugged, and Lizzie introduced her to Oscar. I smiled. "You must be happy for her" someone said.
"Uhm who-"
"I'm Richard" he said.
"I'm Ebony, nice to meet you" I said.
"I uh like your dress" he said.
He seemed like he liked me, so I said, "I like your face". He blushed. I felt like Anna when she met Hans except he wasn't evil. It was the first time in a long time I found interest in a guy.
Me and Dolphy decided to prepare a ball. It was the fasted I prepared a party in my entire life! It was also the prettiest rushed part I have ever seen in my life. I was surprised to see how many marine life arrived at the ball. Before the ball ended the mayor decided to make us the rulers of their small utopia. I decided to call it Atlantica. After the party I said, "We need more citizens to help our kingdom grow, but who?"
"I have the perfect people in mind" Jacob said.
Omg this series is starting to become Mike Fox's intro. I'm sorry the diary entry is small, but I will have a larger one whenever I decide to publish. Peace out potatoes.
