Stiles POV
I knew something was wrong when the hand on the clock ticked to midnight.
Allison had told me that she got off work at ten and would be back at the room soon after. When it was 10:30, I just assumed that maybe she got caught up with closing and some other customers. When it was 11:00, I thought maybe she stopped to get some groceries or something else of that nature. I tried calling her around that time, only getting her voicemail. Finally when it was 11:45, I couldn't sit there any longer.
As I jumped into my Jeep, I couldn't help but worry that something was definitely wrong. A voice in the back of my head told me that this was just a little mishap that wasn't a big deal, but another voice told me that it was worse than that.
I try calling Allison again...nothing.
"Allison, pick up your phone!" I scream as my Jeep lurches forwards, the engine hiccuping. I worried for a moment that Roscoe was about to break down, but then she catches herself and trucks on. I sigh a breath of relief.
A random idea pops into my mind then; one that I wasn't sure why I didn't think of before. I quickly pull up Cole's contact name and press dial, holding the phone to my ear. He doesn't answer either.
Three thoughts rushed into my head then. One, he just didn't answer coincidentally. Two, his phone died. Three, he was with Allison doing things I didn't want to think about and that's why both of them weren't answering.
I press the gas pedal harder.
Dammit Stiles, why did you think about that third option? Now that the idea popped into my head, I couldn't stop running with it. I mean, I have noticed lately that they've been together a lot. Who knows why or for what reason...maybe I was worried for no reason. If this happened to be the case, I sure as hell didn't want to see it or know about it. It would crush me.
I almost pressed on the break and turned around in that moment, but something told me to keep driving, so I did. I was almost to the mall anyways; at least I would know then if she was still there or not. I debated trying to call her again, but the moment I pulled into the mall parking lot, I threw the phone into the passenger seat as I slam on the breaks.
In front of me was a scene that I wasn't expecting at all. Allison's car was still here alright, along with Cole's, but Allison wasn't anywhere in sight. I catch sight of Cole's body laying limp under the street light then, causing me to flail my arms before rushing out of the Jeep.
I found myself running, but not for Cole. For Allison. "Cole!"
He doesn't move. Oh God, he's dead.
It only takes me three seconds before I'm at Cole's side, kneeling down beside him as I rolled him over onto his back. His eyes are squeezed shut and his head was bleeding, but it wasn't enough to kill him, especially for someone like him. I noticed he was breathing then; thank God.
"Cole!" I scream, feeling time ticking away faster and faster the longer I stayed here. I lightly slap his cheeks for him to wake up, but he didn't even flinch. Suddenly, I remember being in this type of situation before; when Derek was in the elevator at the hospital after Jennifer knocked him out. Pain makes you human, or at least, it wakes you up. It triggers the healing process.
I clench my fist then, anticipating this more than I should have. At least I was getting pay back from him taking my clothes the other day. My fist flies across Cole's face then; his head flinging to the side before he's gasping, eyes flashing open as they burned a bright gold.
He growls lowly before grabbing his head, furrowing his eyebrows as he stares up at me. "Stiles?"
"Yes, that is my name," I shake my head. "What in the hell happened?"
It takes him a moment to remember. "I was here talking to Allison when-"
He flies up then, sitting up as his hands prop him up. His eyes dart around the parking lot as his face turns into pure panic and worry, and I wanted to know why. "Cole, what happened!"
"T-That thing..." he fades off, fear written on his face. "That thing took Allison."
My stomach drops at his words, but I stay on task. I needed to know what happened to help find her, wherever she was. "Cole, what thing? Tell me everything that happened."
He hesitates before shaking his head. "The black dog; the thing that's been killing all of those people. It attacked me first before it went for Allison, but I saw the thing knock her out before everything went dark for me. I-It happened too fast-"
The black dog; the thing that's been killing everyone...and it took Allison. This wasn't happening. Everything felt dizzy around me. "Cole, you're telling me that the thing that's been killing everyone took Allison, and you have no idea where they could have went."
Cole puts his hands on top of his head, locking them. "Oh my God-"
I scream then. Not a scream that you do out of fear, but a scream because of pure anger and frustration. I kept telling myself to calm down and to think, but I couldn't. That thing took Allison, and I couldn't stop thinking that her name was just going to be added onto the murdered list.
No...I wasn't going to let that happen.
I grab Cole's shoulders. "You have no idea where they could have gone?"
Cole shakes his head as I throw him back, standing up and pacing back and forth. My eyes land on something laying in the dark then; looking like a dagger. As I walk over to investigate, Cole calls after me.
"Hasn't this thing been killing everyone where it finds them at?" Cole says, proving a good point. "It took Allison though; maybe it doesn't want to kill her."
"Then what could it possibly want her for?" I ask, not knowing where to start with answering that question. I bend over and grab the dagger then, looking it over. There wasn't even a trace of blood on it; she didn't get a hit before it took her.
It's silent for a moment before Cole speaks, his voice cracking. "Allison's a hunter...what if that thing knows that and that her family is too."
I whip around, holding the dagger out in my hands. "And it took her because it needed to eliminate a threat-"
"And it needed to know how to find the rest of her family-"
"Or to draw them closer," I finish, staring down at the dagger. "Meaning we still have time to find her."
"Where is Allison even from?" Cole asks, shaking his head. "I mean hell Stiles, we aren't even sure if this is its motive-"
"It's all we got," I breathe. "I know where she's from, but it's a long drive."
Cole stands, dabbing the blood away with his shirt. "That thing couldn't have made it far on foot, right?"
"Hopefully not," I say as I look up at my Jeep. "Come on; we need to go."
Cole nods before running towards the Jeep; and eerie deathly silence filling the air for a split second. Just before I ran off towards the Jeep, I look down at the dagger in my hands, making a promise to myself and to Allison.
"No one is dying tonight, especially you."

Allison's POV
When I opened my eyes again, I couldn't remember what happened.
Everything flooded to me all at once; first it was the crushing headache I had, and then the dizziness feeling, and then came the memories. I would have jolted awake at the realization of what happened, but I was in so much pain that I couldn't. It almost hurt to think.
So when I fluttered my eyes open finally, the feeling of utter fear came rushing upon me. Either it was the remembrance of what actually took me or when I realized where I was that did it, but either way, I was utterly terrified, and that rarely ever happened. I usually was fearless and brave, but this time, something told me that I needed to be afraid to stay alive.
The moment I opened my eyes, I knew that I was lying in the woods; the same place that we had taken Cole during his transformation. Mud was now caked onto my knees and hands, along with broken pieces of the falling leaves, but that wasn't what bothered me at all. What bothered me was that there was also blood on my hands.
It took me a moment to figure out that it was from my head, but it still made the fear rise higher within me. My stomach churns at the thought of my death possibly being tonight, or maybe even in a few mere moments, but I try to push the thought out of my head. I tried to focus.
My eyes search the dark, not seeing anything other than piles of leaves and a lying log here and there. An owl hoots off in the distance as I lie perfectly still; waiting for something to happen, but nothing did. I feared that the monster was out there ready to pounce if I made any sudden moment, but nothing stirred in the black void.
After observing my surroundings, I shift a little and feel something poke me in the side; the sudden realization that it was my phone causing me to scramble to pull it out. I sigh a breath of relief as I go to turn it on, only to be greeted with a red battery symbol on the screen. I forgot that it had died earlier at work. Dammit.
Just as I throw my phone down, it bouncing onto the leaves, something else catches my eye. I reach out and grab it swiftly before realizing that it was a phone, but it sure as hell wasn't mine. When I press the home button to turn it on, my eyes being flooded with light, I knew exactly whose it was, but I wasn't sure why I had it.
The home screen was a photo of Avery and another girl and guy. They were smiling and holding up two red solo cups; the photo presumably taken at a party. I must have accidentally grabbed her phone earlier at work; I mean, we did have the same case. It was a good thing that I did, because if I wouldn't have, I would be roaming through this whole woods before making it back, if I did that is.
I swipe my finger across the screen as the dial pad shows up; relief flooding my body. It was a damn good thing that I had Stiles' number memorized. I quickly punch it in before pressing the phone to my ear, whispering under my breath for Stiles to pick it up. The phone rings twice before his voice floods into my ear.
"Hello? Who is this?" Stiles says, sounding worried. I wondered if it was because of me.
"Stiles, it's Allison-"
"Allison!" he practically shouts, out of breath. "Are you okay? Where are you? Who's phone is this?"
I take one question at a time. "My head is bleeding, but I'm okay. I'm in the woods where we had taken Cole to before, and this is Avery's phone."
"Why do you have her phone?" Stiles asks, sounding odd.
I shake my head. "I must have accidentally grabbed it earlier at work. My phone died."
"We're on our way, okay? Stay put," Stiles says, a screeching sound coming across the phone. It sounded like he was making a U turn.
"We?" I ask, and that was when Cole came across my mind. God, I forgot about him.
Stiles pauses for a moment, talking to whoever he was with, presumably Cole. "Cole; he's okay. He's already healing."
"Good," I breathe, feeling short of breath for some reason. "Hurry, please. It's cold."
Stiles starts to say something then, but I tune his voice out when I hear something from out in the darkness. The phone slips out of my hand as I listen to leaves crumple in the distance; sounding like movement. Dammit, it came back for me.
Stiles shouts through the phone at me, but I focus on the sound in the dark. I almost call out something at the creature, but that was before I heard a mumble from something that was human, not animal. I quickly scramble to pick up the phone as I turn on the flashlight, shining it into the darkness at where I heard the movement.
I have to blink a moment to make sure I was seeing it right. Laying there was a naked figure: a girl hidden in the leaves. I almost drop the phone in my hand when the girl with fire red hair looks up over her shoulder, eyes wide with confusion.
It was Avery.
