little note before you read the chapter..

I wanted to apologize for taking this long to finally update this story. I hope most of you are still around to continue reading about Stiles and Allison's story, along with Cole. Thank you for being patient with me, and I am hoping this chapter/the end won't disappoint (and that you haven't forgotten everything before now, haha)

Without further ado, here is chapter thirty...

___________

Allison's POV

It didn't take Stiles long to trace the call, which happened to be at my old high school. I wasn't sure why St. Claire would take Kara there, but all I cared about in this given moment was that we had a lead on where to find her.

Being back home again caused so many memories to resurface, mostly the ones that involved my father and I. Suddenly, it was like the old days where we helped protect our town from the supernatural; the hunter and the huntress. At the end of the day, we usually came home with barely a scratch on us, but for some reason, this time I wasn't as hopeful.

"Why would St. Claire take Kara to your old high school?" Cole asks from the backseat of my father's SUV. We decided that Stiles' jeep couldn't fit everyone inside, so we all piled into my dad's car.

"I don't know," I reply back, staring at the road ahead of us as my father speeds down the road, clutching my bow in my right hand.

Cole leans forwards to where his head is touching the back of my seat. "And why would she keep Kara alive? If she's supposed to die like all of the others, why hold onto her?"

I knew that he had good questions, but they were questions that I couldn't answer. "Like I said before, Cole, I don't know. All I know is that we have a lead, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to save her, if she is still alive."

Cole nods his head slowly, noticing my snappy-like tone. Aubrey carefully grabs his arm and tugs him back towards the back of the seat, knowing that I was more than stressed and scared right now. Stiles notices as well as he looks over, setting his hand on top of the one that held on tight to my bow, giving me ease.

"We're going to save her. We have more help now, Allison." I glance over at my father as he nods in reply, and I knew that we were better off than we were before. "We're going to find St. Claire, stop her, and get Kara back."

"I hope so," I barely manage to croak out, turning my eyes back to the road. In the distance, I notice the top of the building that used to be my high school as my heart starts to race faster.

Before long, we make it to the school, which was completely empty. It was late at night, of course no one was around. As we all start to get out, my father already starts to take control of the situation.

"Okay, so correct me if I'm wrong, but Cole is a werewolf, right?" he asks as Cole shrugs.

"I'm a were-something. We still aren't really sure yet."

My dad nods slowly. "Okay, well good enough. You can defend yourself. Stiles and Aubrey, you guys ever used a gun before?"

Stiles shakes his head slightly as Aubrey furrows her eyebrows. "A gun? Do these hands look like they've ever held a gun before?"

Chris sighs. "I'm not sending you two in there defenseless, so listen closely, alright? It's simple, hold it like this, switch this here to turn off the safety, and then aim and pull the trigger."

He hands them each a pistol as Aubrey stares at the cold piece of metal in her hands, disbelief on her face. I knew that she was wondering what she just got herself into, but I could tell that Stiles was excited to use it.

"I've used one of these once before," Stiles says as he grips it between his hands. "I think I actually have the hang of it-"

I jump and drop my bow when I hear a gunshot ring off, which was caused by Stiles. His finger had slipped on the trigger and shot off in the distance, luckily not hitting any of us. He quickly lowers the gun as well stare at him with disbelief, a look of guiltiness on his face.

"Well if we had the element of surprise on our side, it's sure as hell gone now," Cole says coldly before turning and walking towards the school, glancing over his shoulder. "Let's get this show on the road."

I'm the first to march after Cole as the rest follow, the moonlight lighting our way to the front two doors. My fingers clasp around my bow as my other pointer and ring finger curl around the string, ready to pull back at any given time if needed. If St. Claire really was here, I was ready for her.

Cole swiftly throws the two heavy doors open, the sound of it bringing back too many memories. I shove them down back into my mind as we step inside, our shoes ticking along the tile flooring. Black lockers line the sides of the hallway,  along with a few doors to a bathroom and posters about upcoming club meetings.

"This is where you went to high school at?" Stiles whispers lowly. "It's already bigger than my old high school."

"Stiles, is now really the time?" Aubrey spits back, terror in her voice. At the sound of it, I look over my shoulder at her to see her hands shaking so bad, she could barely keep the gun in her hands.

It was then a loud thud stops us. We all look around frantically, trying to figure out where the sound came from. After much time, I whisper lowly. "Maybe we should split up."

"That is the dummest idea I've ever heard," Aubrey shoots back, shaking her head so that her cherry locks bounce.

My father nods. "I agree. We need to make two groups; we cover more ground that way."

"Stiles and Cole, you come with me. Aubrey, you're with my dad," I say, taking control of the situation. My father nods as Aubrey glances at him, suddenly agreeing with the plan.

"We'll take left, you go right," my dad states before walking down the opposite hall, shining his flashlight in every nook and cranny. Stiles and Cole stare at me, waiting for me to start moving.

"Let's check the gym, it sounded like it came from there," I breathe, turning back towards the way were moving. Cole and Stiles stay close behind me as we move along, my fingers dancing on the string.

"Cole, can you catch any scent?" Stiles asks, eyes wide.

He sniffs the air. "All I smell is body odor and...blood?"

I whip around then. "You smell blood?"

Cole nods slowly. "Yeah, it's coming from....that way."

He points down the hall then, the way we were already going. "You're in front now. Lead the way."

He nods then as he continues to smell the air, Stiles and I following very close behind. Every now and again, I turn around to make sure nothing or no-one was trailing behind us. We don't walk much farther down the hall before Cole stops in front of the gymnasium doors, taking one last sniff.

"It's coming from there," he looks back at the two of us. "And it sounds like...there's a heartbeat."

I grip my bow tighter as I look between the two of them. "Alright, if there's someone behind those doors, it's either Kara or St. Claire. Be prepared for anything, okay?"

The two of them nod as Cole's eyes glow golden, along with Stiles griping his pistol. I take the lead then as I push the doors open, my eyes widening at the sudden darkness. It was so hard to see, even with my flashlight. I furiously start to wave my light around, preparing myself for something or someone. It was then I stopped suddenly on an object out in the middle of the court, which appeared to be Kara.

"Kara?" I breathe out, noticing her tied up in some chair. Her head was hanging, and there was a pool of blood surrounding her. My heart starts to race even faster as I wait for a reply, and at first I was terrified that I wouldn't get one, until her eyes finally lift and meet my own.

"Allison?"

A gasp escapes my lips as I drop my flashlight and run towards her, dropping to my knees. "A-Are you okay? What did she do to you? I'm going to get you out of here-"

"She...she hurt me pretty bad, Allison." Her eyes drift down to her abdomen, and that was when I finally noticed the blood that stained her tank top. I scramble quickly to lift up her shirt to see how bad she was hurt, and it was worse than I had expected.

There were three long, deep slices cut through her stomach, which I knew were caused by claws. The blood was already starting to dry and crust, so I knew that she had been like this for some time now. It wasn't until Cole grabs the flashlight that I had dropped and shines it on the marks when I realized that I could see some of her internal organs. It was a miracle that her heart was even still beating.

A tear falls down her cheek, which was covered in running mascara. "It's worse than I had thought, i-isn't it?"

I hesitate, not sure on how to even reply, but I knew I couldn't give up on her. "It's not bad, Kara. We're going to get you the hospital, alright? Just hang in there."

She continues to cry as Cole and Stiles struggle to get the ropes unbound from her. "I don't want to die, Allison."

I rest my hand carefully on her shoulder as I make sure to give her eye contact. "You're not going to die. I promise."

She nods slowly as Cole extends his claws, finally just cutting the rope. The sudden jolt of it causes Kara to wince and let out a little moan. I knew that she was in a lot of pain, but I just needed her to hang on a little bit longer.

"Cole, pick her up carefully. Make sure not to move her too much," I quickly give orders as he does so. Kara struggles getting into his arms, but after some time, he was carrying her bridal style and ready to move. "Now, I'm going to lead and Stiles will follow behind you, in case St. Claire is still here. I'm not going to let her hurt her again."

"Okay," Cole nods as Stiles does in pursuit. I bend over and quickly grab the flashlight as we start to make our way out of the gymnasium, my heart still beating out of control. So far, things were going our way, and it didn't feel real.

"Allison, she's losing a lot of blood," Cole says to me as we step into the hallway, causing Kara to gasp at the sudden movement.

I glance back at the two of them. "I know, we need to get her out of here as fast as we can and get her to the hospital."

"I'm so cold," Kara breathes slowly. "And so tired..."

"Keep your eyes open," I state sternly before I look up at Cole. "Make sure her eyes stay open, okay?"

"I will-" Cole starts to say before another thud causes us to freeze, all of us going silent. I knew this time that someone else was still here, I just had a gut feeling about it. It took a minute to think about it in my mind on what to do before I decided.

I turn back towards Stiles and Cole. "You two go ahead to the car, okay? Be very gentle with her. I'm going to find Aubrey and my dad, and then I'm going to figure out what in the hell that sound is."

Stiles steps forwards. "No, I'm not leaving you in here by yourself-"

"I can fend for myself, Stiles. I'll be okay." I look back over at Kara and Cole. "Cole needs someone to watch his back and get Kara out of here, alright? Kara is the main priority. Get her out of here and get her to the hospital."

"She's right, Stiles," Cole agrees. "She's running out of time, and we can't just leave her dad and Aubrey here."

Stiles knew we were right. He steps forwards then and takes my hand, not breaking eye contact with me. "If something happens, just scream and I'll come running, okay? Promise me you'll do that-"

"I will," I nod, my eyes not daring to leave his. "Just get Kara out of here."

"We'll keep her safe," Stiles breathes before letting go of my hand, the three of them disappearing around the corner, back towards the car. I take a deep breath in that moment, feeling utterly alone.

It wasn't long after I heard the same thud again, and I was more than determined to figure out what it was this time. I knew that it had came from my old English room.

I clasp the bow in my hand tightly as I walk towards the room, my hands shaking like crazy. Usually I wasn't ever this nervous, but my friends lives were on the line; and it wasn't like I was going up against something I could take down easily.

Before I know it, I'm kicking the door, causing it to swing open with a loud banging sound. My heart skips a beat as I step inside, swinging my flashlight left and right. I stop when I see a figure huddled up the corner, sounding like they were crying.

I take a step closer before I notice the left hand, and I knew that it was St. Claire.

"Ms. St. Claire?" I state, remembering what Stiles and I had talked about. Whoever the Black Dog is doesn't know it. It was a gift given to them by the devil in order to get revenge on whoever did them wrong. If St. Claire really didn't know what was going on, I had to be gentle with her.

She continues to sob into her lap as she pulls her legs closer to her, shaking her head. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, I didn't know what I was doing.."

"It's okay," I breathe as I continue to grow closer to her, shoving a few desks out of my way as I do so. "None of this was your fault."

She sucks in a harsh breath. "This is all of my fault..."

I finally reach her as I kneel down next to her, setting my bow to the side. It was then I noticed the blood that covered her hands and feet, and it was even crusting in her long brown hair. "This isn't you. You aren't in control."

Suddenly then, she stops crying. At first, I had thought I had gotten through to her, until she started to mumble lowly. "But I am in control."

When she lifts her eyes to look at me, they were burning a bright white color, ones that I could perfectly see my reflection in. I quickly scramble to grab my bow, but it was already too late. She smiles at me with those perfect blood stained teeth before I see nothing but darkness.
