Swimming with Sharks
Swimming with Sharks
Pink clichés to butterflies in colored ink.
Letters speak loud, volumes articulate rumors
Yet, no concerns; cancer eats cells to bleeding tumors.
Children jaded, innocence haunted, wordlessly faded
Whispers scream fired hatred, now bleeding and bladed.
A prototype world created.
So stagnant, this museum
Do not touch for this is a painted dream
Life and magic are not always as they seem.
Swimming with sharks says the dog who barks
Everyone wants cake, cutthroat hate.
Promotions arise telling deceitful lies
Never looking lays a log in our eyes.
Summer nights, strolling the beach
A man kneels, red turns the sand
Please, put out your hand.
Animals laugh, oh, the irony
They finally learned to type and tweet.
Disgracefully they repeat
at a poor man's expense robbed then beat.
Never forget Karma loves to hand out glorious treats.
Humanity forgets and vanity never seems to regret
Politicians sell, Preachers preach while religion fell.
Hurting our brothers to finish this race
Yet, so invisible not even a pace.
Swimming with sharks, wet and melted poker face.

Fast Car by Tracy Chapman was written in the year of 1988 the song Fast Car has a meaning in each verse. Many people had different perceptions of Chapman's message and still to this day.
Perception is our own, the ability of awareness through our senses we all feel an emotion leaving an impression on us. As Swimming with Sharks may seem contradictory it reveals a message in each verse, Fast Car in my perceptions is quite beautiful with a greater meaning. I do not feel the tone or message is meant to depress or give one the feeling of sadness but in a sense to think deeper, the unlimited scale of life now and in the latter. To the readers of Swimming with Sharks may you find the illimitable! Never letting anything find you bounded, or perhaps allowing it.
