Chapter One
"JUST A SMALL TOWN GIRL, LIVIN' IN A LONELY WORLD! SHE TOOK THE MIDNIGHT TRAIN GOIN' ANYWHERE!"
"Jonathan, my ever enthusiastic little brother, I'm technically taking the 10 AM train going to Central City." I laughed at the fifteen year old's boisterous attitude.
"Are you even there yet? You got on the train like forever ago!" My kid brother complained, making me chuckle.
"Bubba, it's a five and a half hour journey, it's been twenty minutes." I stated, holding my phone up to my ear and watching the landscape fly by through the window.
"What are you even going to be doing that entire time?"
"Listen to music and read Pride and Prejudice." I said pulling said book out of my purse.
"What is with you and mom, and that book?"
"Don't forget the movie and miniseries." I joked, fully aware of my mother's comfort series/movie. "Don't act as though you didn't like the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies book."
"Because there's zombies, Cassie!"
"Fair point, but it still counts." I argued, knowing that the insinuation of sharing an interest in anything remotely related to Jane Austen would annoy him.
"It was your book!"
"That you read. Willingly, might I add." I teased, already picturing the steam coming out of my little brother's ears.
"I'm hanging up now."
"Bye, twerp! I'll text you guys when I get there!" I laughed, amusement shimmering in my eyes.
"Bye, nerd!"
With a roll of my eyes, I hung up the phone and pulling out my headphones. The sound of Arctic Monkeys filling my ears.
Time for a new start.

"Thank you so much!" I called out to the cab driver after he got my bags from the trunk.
"Are you sure you won't need any help getting these inside?" He asked pointing to the apartment building.
"I'll be alright! Thanks again!" I answered politely and quickly payed the cab fare.
As he drove away I hooked my purse onto the collapsible handle of one of the luggage bags and carried them up the stairs to the front of the apartment building.

After getting my key from the landlady, who was a very funny Philippino woman, I opened the door and settled into the empty apartment.
The U-Haul bearing my few belongings wasn't due to arrive until tomorrow along with my dad who offered to tow my little Toyota all the way from Kansas.
My train of thought was cut short by my phone ringing.
"Hello, you've reached Cassie!" I chirped, leaning against the kitchen counter.
"Miss Kent, this is Dr. Harrison Wells."
My eyebrows shot up, not expecting my new boss to call me. "Hi, Dr. Wells! What can I help you with?"
"I know you probably just got into town, but I might need you to come in early."
"Sure thing, boss. How early?" I asked curiously, expecting that I'd probably have a brief orientation or something.
"Is an hour from now alright?"
I could tell from Well's tone that he wasn't really asking. I nodded, before realizing that this was a phone call and that he couldn't see me. "Of course, I'll see you then."
"Fantastic, see you soon."
Without another word he hung up the phone and I realized I'd have to call another cab.
