There are somethings human eyes just shouldn't see and that's why the Darkzone exist. It makes a lot of sense when you think of it like a prison and but a the same time another reality.

In all honesty no creature can live without their shadow. It would imbalance them to do so.

That's why the Migalsha are always so attached and attracted to humans. They hunt weakness and pain.

A new Migalsha is born with every new human and they feed from fear and the uncontrolled, tainted illness of the human mind. They're invisible to normal humans on a certain level but their existence grabs every single living cell of the body, until the end.

I stretched out on the rooftop and sighed as Nathan went through some homework beside me. Since it was night time he was slightly incorporeal and had to concentrate whenever he reached for something so that he could actually touch it.

"You should just let me take over your body completely," I told him.

"Not a chance," he mumbled.

I let out another sigh and looked away from him.

Fine, figure things out the hard way little boy.

I was staring down at the empty streets at the randomly changing street lights. When I saw something that made me do a double take.

I saw Samantha running down the middle of the red brick road, almost like she was scared or something. She was in her pajamas and just running blindly as fast as she could.

What in the world is wrong with her?

"Um, I found something you might want to see," I said to Nathan.

"I'm busy and I don't have time for your stupid bull," he grumbled.

"That is so rude I had no idea that you really felt that way about, Sam," I said slowly.

I saw him go pale and a moment later he was standing next to me looking over the edge of the roof like I was.

"W-what is she doing?" He asked me.

"I don't know but if I had to guess I'd say that she's not all the way there. Some part of her is stuck in the DarkZone. And this path is probably the worst possible path she could have picked to run down, while in that state," I explained.

"Why is this place so bad?!" He asked frantically.

I let out a small chuckle, "The red bricks have been here since this town was founded and you humans don't mess with them or the buildings on them. But that also helps them grow in Darkzone. This spot is like on giant feeding pool."

I saw him unfurl his wings and I grabbed his arm. "Wait...I'll go. I'll save her, she's stuck in my realm anyway," I told him as I stood up.

I opened my wings, the whole time I could feel his eyes on me. "Fine, but I'm watching you," he warned me.

Oh yeah watch me then what are you gonna do? Watch me some more?

I rolled my eyes as he disappeared giving me full control for the time being. I leaped off of the building and extended my wings, gliding on air.

I flapped them as I chased after Sam eventually we came to the town square , or the Green as the locals called it.

I reached out to grab Sam but she fell straight down a hole, I froze for a second frowning.

"She's one of us."

I glared down into the hole at the
Migalsha that were definitely down there with Sam.

Like hell she is! No one gets to terrify her but me!

I let out a snarl and jumped down the hole after Sam. The hole that I had jumped into was the top of a mine tunnel.

As I walked I saw a lot of shadows and none of them friendly but at the same time none of them were stupid enough to test their luck with me.

Dammit Sam where are you? I know you like playing hide and seek with me but this is too much.

I eventually came to a rusty miner elevator, I was examining it when one of the Migalsha dropped an unconscious Sam into it. A moment later it took off careening down.

Stopping a giant metal elevator is not easy, especially not for me when the form I currently have is that of an eighteen year old boy.

So stopping the elevator caused me to dislocate my left shoulder.
I gritted my teeth and let out a string of curses.

"Holy shit what did you do?! Why does my shoulder hurt like this!?" Nathan yelled at me in my head.

I just let out a sigh and took a deep breath before I fixed my shoulder. I bit my lip then started rotating it carefully before I slammed myself into the nearby wall.

It's a good thing I'm used to stuff like this.

I slowly knelt by Sam and examine her. She was covered in scratches, scrapes, and bruises from her feet to her face.

I grabbed her shoulders and shook her. "Sam! Wake up!" I said.

She started shivering in my grip and her eyes slowly opened but she just stared into space afterwards.

She's still not fully awake. This might take a while.

"One of us! She's one of us!"

I opened my mouth and roared at them allowing the sound to echo throughout the tunnels. I grabbed Sam's hand and stood up.

"Come on, Sam let's go," I told her softly as I as gently tugged on her hand.

She shakily stood up and slowly shuffled behind me. Her body shivering with each step she took.

How did she even make it downtown? If I hadn't been here...

I shudder at my own gruesome thoughts. Sam stopped walking and the Migalsha reached toward her and I growled at them, before pulling Sam closer to me.

Getting her back up to the surface was not easy, the whole time I literally had to hold Sam's hand and guide her.

I let out a sigh of relief as I sat down on the curb next to Sam. She leaned against me and let out a whimper.

At the current moment I looked exactly like Nathan to hopefully help her calm down a bit.

"Sam? Nathan?"

I looked up to see a girl standing in front of us, the moment I looked at her I got all of her information.

Victoria Smith, Female, Age eighteen years old, raised by biological grandmother. Lesbian, cheerleader. Greatest Fears, clowns and being rejected or abandoned because of her sexuality.

I had to stop myself from letting out a snicker.

Clowns? Really, the scariest clown I've ever seen was John Wayne Gacy but at least he had a reason to be scary.

"Hi, Victoria," I said smiling slightly.

"Hey, Nathan is, Sam okay she doesn't look too good?" She asked me.

"Yeah, Sam was helping me try out some new gymnastics moves but she hasn't been feeling well though," I told her.

"Well my house is right down the street so why don't you bring her there. I'm just heading back from a party," Victoria told me.

At the moment I was still concerned about Sam who was lethargic and unaware. So I went to Victoria's house.

The moment we came inside I saw that old woman, Lisa. She looked me up and down then looked at Victoria.

"Go to bed honey," Lisa told Victoria.

Victoria opened her mouth but shut it and nodded before leaving us alone.

"This is a beautiful home you have," I said.

Sam yawned silently beside me. Lisa stared at me then she smirked, "Begone evil spirit!"

At first I thought the old woman was just speaking nonsense. That's when I realized what hang above my head, a dreamcatcher made of bones, horsehair, shark teeth and crow feathers.

My eyes went wide and I felt the blood drain from my face.

"Holy fucking shit." I whispered from inside the spirit barrier.

Sam groaned beside me and slumped against me her Darkzone mark glowing black.

She's running out of time.

"Let me out of here," I said slowly.

Lisa chuckled and opened something that looked like a Grimoire. My eyes narrowed.

She knows what she's doing, she's not playing around.

I took a deep breath and slowly calmed down. Then I remembered something. A person who has family is easier for me to manipulate than people who only care about themselves.

"Let me out of here or I'm warning you. If you try to banish me back to the Darkzone I'll have your granddaughter do a very infamous swan dive off of the Delaware bridge," I threatened slowly.

Lisa glanced at me. "You're lying! Your reach doesn't spread that far!"

I sneered at her, "Bitch, I'm the king of the Darkzone, I will twist your granddaughter's worst fears into reality so you better think carefully before you start chanting from that book."

I glanced at Sam and saw bright orange irises looking slowly around the room.

That is not good.

I heard a sound like glass breaking and I looked up to see the dream catcher shattered to pieces.

"Get out! You got your way so leave! And may God bless that poor girl's soul," Lisa snapped at me.

I gladly left the house changing back into my own form once out of sight. A moment later Nathan appeared fully corporal.

"What's wrong with, Sam?" He asked me.

"The Darkzone is trying to claim her so far it's already started merging," I told him.

"How do we stop it then!?"

"You don't stop it, once it starts happening this quickly and this badly then you need to fuse both or the vessel dies," I explained.

I sighed, "Don't worry I know how to do it, all we need is a large open space and a pig."

"We can use the school gym and we can get a pig from a farm or the SPCA," Nathan said.

Getting a pig was easier than one would think. There was one just wandering around the streets of Smyrna waiting to be picked up by animal control.
Breaking into the school was also easy.

"Is this safe?" Nathan asked me.

We were about to do the ritual to help Sam. So Sam was sitting in the middle of the gym and in the middle of the chalk circle I'd drawn.

"As safe as demonic rituals can get," I told him as I sat the pig in front of Sam.
Nathan growled at me.

"Hey! Stop that I've told you about doing that before. I swear it's like hearing a teacup dog," I mumbled.

It was in a cage so it wouldn't run away it was a live offering to Sam's Darkzone self after all.

The ritual itself wasn't that long for a moment though the room was completely covered in darkness. Then I saw her. Sam's DarkZone form.

So beautiful.

She had long, bright orange hair and eyes to match. Thick antelope horns curved up out of her hair. Her skin was a light gray color and she was wearing an odd outfit.

Her gaze was eerie to say the least.

"That-that's Sam's Darkzone form?!" Nathan yelled.
