He wasn't sure how he had managed to escape that crazy scientist and that creepy assistant of theirs, but he was nonetheless just plain happy to even escape in the first place. He should have realized sooner that the moment he was created by them, that they guided him to that machine, did he realize how much trouble he was in.

He doesn't even know why he was created for their sick amusement. All of the comments that they made were sickening, really.

Just how insane are they? Clearly, he's living proof that such insanity is definitely evident. He wasn't sure what he was meant to do anymore now that he was freed. Freed from that awful lab. Can he even live as a pickaxe? Can he even do anything at all? He doesn't even want to be a pickaxe in the first place!

Well, he would have to find some way to continue living later, he's just glad that the crazy professor didn't follow him down the stairs–

"Rainbow Steve! Where are you! I know you're angry and rightfully so, but please come back!" He immediately panics and immediately runs– he still has no idea how he was able to run as a pickaxe in the first place, but that doesn't matter. He needed to run and get away from this crazy professor as soon as possible. He shudders to imagine what that crazy professor would do to him again!

Worst of all, he rather avoids that assistant of theirs, they're more insane then the professor and that's saying a lot. Despite not knowing much with their very limited time of existing.

He wasn't really sure how long he had run– but he had somehow managed to get out of the clearing, past the rocky hills and into some sort of forest. He didn't even see the forest in the first place when he had escaped moments ago, he couldn't even hear the professor anymore. It had grown faint as he ran further away.

He didn't dare stop though, why should he? If he had stopped, he would be at risk of being found again and he would rather not let that professor have any chance in finding him at all. So he continued to run further and further into the forest–

Until he stopped. Seemingly shocked by the sight before them.

It was a grove of some sorts, a small area with a small group of pink trees and a small lake next to it.

Why was there something like this in the middle of a forest like this and not far from the crazy lab? He wasn't sure, but just being here was...comforting. He moved closer, almost to the point of being in the center– allowing him to take note that he just left the forest and entered a field of flowers with this strange, yet pretty grove.

Seeing a place like this, that whispers safety, makes him want to just stay here, it was most likely safe. Safer than the forest probably and safe away from the crazy professor–

"So this is where you ran off to." He immediately yelped– despite it being silent, but it was evident when he had jumped back in utter shock. How did this crazy professor find him so fast?! He immediately ran– only to be stopped by being lifted and stopped by the crazy professor.

He did NOT like that and struggled to get out of their grip– how did it go from weak to being so strong all of a sudden?! He doesn't know and quite frankly– he doesn't want anything to do with this crazy professor in the first place! But no matter how much he tries, he can never get out of their grip like the first time, until eventually– he just gives up.

There's no point now.

He barely knew anything about the world, having been just created, then ripped apart painfully, then put back together just as painfully and into a pickaxe in less than five minutes. Literally. Now he's at the mercy of this crazy professor–

"Listen, I'm sorry, okay? I doubt you would even accept my apologies since I kinda did this to you and my assistant was the worst in making you feel insecure..." The crazy professor– he was sure he heard the Assistant call him 'Prof. Favre', which is a weird name really, apologized. He didn't accept it, not one bit, how could he even accept the apologies of someone as crazy as them?

No one was sane enough to do that if they were in his situation!

Throughout his struggle to get out of Professor Favre's grip, he was sure he had at least hurt their hands and even managed to at least smacked them in the face a few times. Which, shouldn't have made him feel happy and satisfied, but it did anyways. Maybe that crazy Assistant did something that the Professor was unaware of...

"Rainbow Steve! Calm down! I'm trying to get you back to the lab so I can reverse this and to do that I need you to cooperate!" The Professor hissed at him with a pain grunt, he didn't care and kept trying to get out of their grip. He is not going to fall for a lie like that-!

Wait.

How did they get out of that nice grove and to the Lab already?!

He struggles to get out of their grip even more– until suddenly, he feels as though everything is just distorted. It was painfully hard to understand, to even remotely witness or feel– it was like he was trapped in some kind of space that felt too big and too small. He couldn't even see, he was floating and he wasn't–

Everything snapped back to normal and he felt himself clattered onto the table.

Which left him utterly disturbed and dumbfounded.

"Sorry Rainbow, you wouldn't stop struggling so I had to temporarily put you in my inventory for easier transport." The Professor admitted apologetically, he really wants to punch this crazy Professor in the face.

"But don't worry! I'll find a way to turn you back to normal and then you can do whatever you want afterwards!" The professor cheerfully explained, he can't feel the same, he really wants to punch the guy and leave, never to return.

But he will, just a little, leave hope in this professor to turn him back to normal.

"I still won't forgive you, even after you return me back to a somewhat normal body again." He commented, staring at the grove he founded all those years ago, he had only turned back to normal a month ago, today happened to be the first time he was allowed out of the Lab after a consider amount of physical therapy to get used to their body again, their companion simply just laughed. "I never expected you to ever forgive me, Rainbow Steve." They answered, their rainbow eyes sparkled with mischief. "Besides, you said you'd punch me and leave, what changed? Hm?" Rainbow Steve rolled their eyes, standing up as their coat fluttered behind him by the wind.

"I still won't forgive you, Professor Favre, maybe in the distant future, but for now? I'd rather keep being your Good Assistant, unlike that psychopath you have." Rainbow Steve admitted as they looked at their companion, Professor Favre, who smiled sadly. "I don't understand why you chose to stay with me instead of leaving after I had reversed the procedures. Is this your way of gauging whether or not I am worth forgiving?" He questioned Rainbow Steve hums as he thought about it.

About how had watched this man work himself to the point of exhaustion and sickness. He himself wasn't sure why he had even stuck around after being brought back to his normal self, either. Perhaps, he pity the man that created him in the first place. Or perhaps watching him suffer to amend their mistakes was the turning point.

Rainbow Steve huffed as he turned around and walked away, only to stopped for a moment and turned his back to look at a melancholy Prof. Favre and the Cherry Blossom Grove, as he came to learn recently, once more.

"Perhaps one day, I can truly forgive you for what you had done to me upon my creation, but in the meantime, it's only for I should be the Good angel on your shoulder, then let that Assistant Steve continue to be the Devil on your other shoulder." He commented with a mischievous smirk, one that Prof. Favre mirrored. He knew that every Rainbow Steve ever recorded, courtesy of the research and lessons that Prof. Favre always taught him whenever he could, and had a mischievous spark to them.

One that Prof. Favre isn't surprised to see.

"Yes, I suppose you're right, Rainbow Assistant."

Rainbow smiled, admittedly, he had already forgiven his creator for returning him to a proper body instead of that dreadful pickaxe, but he would rather keep that sentiment to himself for a while longer and do his best to be a helpful assistant.

And stopped him from courting death on a daily basis.

Using the Cherry Blossom Grove (Similar to the biome itself in Minecraft, hence the inspiration for it's presence here) was something I decided would fit well, considering, it is very pretty to imagine, plus considering their general location, it seems like a mountainous area. Therefore, past the stone hills and maybe even the forest that helped keep the Lab hidden at all, there's a small unassuming path to a clearing.

A clearing that Prof. Favre would utilized to make that said Cherry Blossom Grove, as to why he would do it? Maybe it's his way of thanking/grounding himself to the world that he had in a strange sense created as a sanctuary for himself and those he would eventually find that are just as lost as he is about existing.

Nonetheless, I hope you readers like this. :]

Fun fact: I was half tempted to named this "Grove of Forgiveness" But I didn't. Mostly since Rainbow wouldn't truly forgive Prof. Favre due to the trauma, but he did forgive him just enough to accept that he's his creator.
