~| Day 26B: Wings |~

AU: Aether Mentors (In my AU book, the Sky People were taken to the beginning of the world after the loop reset, now living as an actual civilization in the Aether while teaching the newly created Steves how to live and survive.

Context: During a break from survival lessons, some Steves get curious about the Sky People's wings.

—————————————————————————————————————

[3rd Person POV]

Sitting in a field of flowers, a group of variously colored beings gathered around an otherworldly entity, their teacher.

They had been learning something simple and fun that day, how to make dyes from flowers so they could color things how they wanted and make other things from it, like paints and colored clay. However, nobody could think of anything to make with their newly learned art skills, so their winged mentor had decided to let everyone have a quick break so they can think of something.

Speaking of, one of the Steves was looking closely at their wings as they sat on the ground, the Sky Person sitting on a mossy tree stump. The young Red Steve looked at the shimmering rainbow of colors that appeared when the sunlight hit their feathers, which were shaped in such a way that made the Sky Person's wings look like they were made of curly, wispy clouds. He hesitantly kept reaching out to them, then pulling his hand away, before his curiosity got the better of him and he pressed him hand against the soft feathers.

The Sky Person, noticing the feeling of touch, looked behind them and lifted their wing to see the Red Steve looking very embarrassed as the entire group looked at him. He sat there frozen in place for a moment, before putting his hand down and speaking quietly.

"S-Sorry..." He says, almost whispering. "I-I was curious, I shouldn't have just done that-"

"Oh it's alright, I understand your curiosity." The Sky Person smiles. "I don't mind my wings being touched, but please ask first if you do."

The Sky Person then gives him an encouraging look, one the class of Steves recognized as the look given when their teacher wants them to ask about their lesson. Processing for a moment, then smiling, the Red Steve speaks up this time.

"May I touch your wings?" He asks.

"You may, thank you." The Sky Person smiles, spreading their wings out to their full length.

The Red Steve places his hand on their wings again, feeling the soft, fluffy feathers. This prompts the class to ask the same, receiving permission from their mentor, and joining in on the fun. The Sky Person explains how their wings work and things about them whenever asks, which eventually leads to the Steves happily helping with pin feathers as they all talk with one another.

Soon, the conversation turns back to their earlier lesson, and the various colorful Steves start talking about ideas for their projects.

"I'm gonna paint a bird!"

"I'm gonna sculpt one!"

"Ooh, that sounds fun, me too!"

"Hey, what if we all sculpt a flock of birds, and paint them however we want to?"

"We can make them colorful, like us!"

"Yeah! What do we base them off of, though?"

"How about we just sculpt whatever we want to and see what happens?"

As their students talk excitedly about their plans, the Sky Person smiles at both their helpfulness and newfound creativity.
