~| Day 24B: Health |~
AU: Isn't really one I just thought this was funny :b
Context: Humans have studied medicine a lot more than it seems like the Steves have, so I just thought of Sabre telling the Green Steves traditional ways of medicine for in case their powers don't work or can't be used, or just to save their energy for worse cases. They keep asking if Sabre was a medical professional in his old world and he's like "No my people just studied things a lot more and this was fairly common knowledge??"
Warning: Mentions of various injury, it's not described just said that it's there

[3rd Person POV]
Sabre and the Green Leader walked together through the medical building, passing by a few other hallways on the way to their destination. They talked as they went, Sabre explaining things to the Leader.
"You really should teach a class on this." The Green Leader chuckles as there's a lull in the conversation.
"Why? I'm just telling you guys stuff about medical treatment from my world." Sabre asks.
"It's useful! And it'd probably be easier than repeating everything when someone asks about it."
"You forget I don't have the best people skills."
"Well you'd keep the class interesting, that's for sure."
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?"
They arrive at the main room, symmetrically design with beds evenly spaced on either side of the room with small tables next to them. Since there hasn't been any major conflicts, it's been used to house people with minor injuries so people with more threatening injuries can be seen by professionals faster. Thankfully, it's mostly empty, only a few people of various colors sitting on their own bed while a Green Steve with each talks to them.
Sabre and the Green Leader approach the first patient, a Yellow Steve with a small gash on his palm. The Green Steve talking to him stops and steps out of the way as the two reach the area.
"Hey man, what happened here?" Sabre asks the Yellow Steve, who looks up at him.
"Oh, I was running through my town trying to complete deliveries faster and slipped." The Yellow Steve explains. "I would've been fine if my hand didn't hit a sharp rock in the cobblestone."
"Yikes. That's an easy fix though, don't worry."
Sabre then turns to the Green Steve that was talking to him.
"Did you guys get the supplies I talked about?"
"Yep, right here." The Green Steve says, quickly opening a cabinet and taking out a basket full of bottles and rolls of bandages. "We've been waiting for instruction on how to use them."
Sabre takes a labeled brown bottle and a cloth, and pours some of the liquid inside onto the cloth. He then turns to the Yellow Steve.
"Okay, I'm gonna need you to hold this over the gash for a few minutes." He explains. "It's gonna sting, but I promise it's not making it worse, it's just disinfecting the wound because you got scratched by the ground and no matter how clean it looks there's always something that you don't want in a cut."
"Uh, okay...?" The Yellow Steve says, taking the cloth.
He places the cloth on his palm with a confused look, but after a few seconds his expression turns to shock.
"Oh wow." He says, wincing a little. "Not that bad but still- wow."
"Yeah that part always sucks." Sabre laughs. "At least you didn't slip while running on concrete though!"
The Yellow Steve cringes at that, but laughs as well.
"Yeah, that would've been so much worse."
"Yeah. I did that once, though."
"Oooh! Did it hurt?"
"Oh yeah it did. And I had to use this on it too! So that sucked."
"Yeesh! That must have been a bad day."
"Oh I 100% deserved it, I was doing something stupid."
That makes the Yellow Steve laugh again, now less tense than before. Sabre then carefully takes the cloth, placing it in a basket on top the nearby cabinet, labeled 'Do Not Reuse, Needs to Be Sanitized'. He then takes a roll of bandages from the basket of supplies and hands it to the Green Steve.
"You guys know how to do this better than me, so you'll have to take it from here." He says, the Green Steve nodding, then he turns to the Yellow Steve. "Make sure that wound stays clean, and it should heal in a week or two."
"Okay, thank you!"
Sabre waves as he and the Green Leader move to the next patient, a younger Violet Steve with a burn on his forearm. Just like before, the Green Steve with him moves out of the way for Sabre and the Leader. The Violet Steve looks up at Sabre as he approaches, looking embarrassed.
"Hello." The Violet Steve says quietly.
"Hey there." Sabre greets him back. "So, what happened with you?"
"I uh... wasn't paying attention, and I bumped into my brewing stand while learning how to make potions..." The Violet Steve explains.
Sabre looks at the burn for a moment, then smiles reassuringly.
"Okay so, it's a very minor burn thankfully, which means it doesn't have to be bandaged and there's not gonna be any lasting damage." He explains. "There is something to help with it though, one second."
He looks to the Green Steve, who has already gotten this station's basket of medical supplies. Sabre looks through it for a moment, finding a clear bottle with a bubble-filled liquid inside. The Violet Steve looks curiously at it as Sabre holds it up and turns to him.
"What is that?"
"This is an ointment made from a plant called aloe vera. Give me your arm for a sec, please." Sabre explains, the Violet obliging. "It helps soothe burns and helps the skin repair itself after the burn starts healing."
Sabre pours a small amount of the substance onto the Violet Steve's burn, and as it touches his skin the Violet jumps for a moment.
"Oh, it's cold!" He exclaims, surprised.
"Yeah I know, and it's probably gonna feel a bit weird, but you'll need to leave it there for a little while for it to do its job." Sabre explains, spreading the ointment over the burn. "Also for future reference, if you do get burned again, put the area with the burn under cold water for around 20 minutes. It'll soothe the burn while it's still forming and keep it from being too painful later on. Although, you should be careful not to get burned again in the first place."
"I will." The Violet Steve laughs a little. "Thank you."
"No problem!" Sabre smiles.
After getting the excess ointment off his hand, Sabre joins the Green Leader as they walk through the room to the next patient.
"Again, you should teach a class over this." The Green Leader says. "Or at least, write down some of the things you know about it."
"Buddy, I could probably fill a small library with all the things I know from my people's studies." Sabre replies, laughing.
"Wait really?"
"...That was an exaggeration, not an offer."
"Well now I'm curious! Even if you were exaggerating, it sounds like you still know a lot. Are you sure you weren't any kind of expert back in your world?"
"No, I was a... storyteller."
"What?"
"You heard me."
