~| Day 20B: Inverted |~
AU: An Altered Tale
Context: Orange and Sabre are looking at stars in the backyard, and they start talking about the idea of other universes outside theirs. I thought this be fun since AAT is an inverted version of RQ :>
Sorry this one is short, I didn't have many ideas lol

[Orange Steve's POV]
We lay on our backs in the grass, staring up at the endless sea of glittering lights above us.
We don't get to see this kind of thing often because we live in town, not the country. But there was a power outage, which means all the lights are out, and nothing is blocking our view of the stars.
I point out my world's constellations to Sabre, and he sometimes manages to find ones similar to his. The stories are different, but still mirror each other in some ways. Kind of like us.
"Hey, Orange...?"
I turn my head, and Sabre is looking at me.
"What's up, bud?" I reply.
"Since I come from a different world than this one, do you think there's more alternate worlds?" He asks. "Before, I never really thought about it. It sounded made up, or at most just a hope that somehow, in some way, we're not alone in the abyss of space. But now that I know another world is real... what if there's more than just two?"
"That's... a good question." I answer. "I guess the only way we could know is if another world somehow made contact with one of ours, or there's another incident like yours. But it's nice to imagine, right? I mean, it's been proven once already. So who's to say there isn't more just waiting out there somewhere?"
Sabre laughs a little, then turns his head back to the sky.
"Yeah. Maybe, every star we see is a gateway to another world, and we just can't access them because of the superheated celestial mass surrounding them."
"That'd be cool. I wonder what other worlds would think of us? Would we be weird, or normal, or something else?"
"It's like you and your friends taught me; everyone and everything is a little weird. We should just look for the good in it."
"Heh, I'm glad you took that to heart."
"It is a nice saying."
There's a few minutes of silence between us, as we watch the stars glow and glimmer.
"...Orange?"
"Hm?"
"Do you... Do you think I'll ever get to go home?"
"...You crossed over once. We'll find a way for you to do it again, and keep in contact. A cross-world teleport has to be a round trip, or else that'd just be cruel."
"A... 'round trip'?"
I laugh.
"I'll explain later. Let's just enjoy the stars, dude."
"Heh, okay."
