~| Day 1A: Fair |~

Don't worry about the '1A' bit, just differentiating my prompts from Willow's! Because yes I'm writing her prompts too. THAT'S RIGHT, Y'ALL ARE GETTING DAILY DOUBLE UPLOADS FROM ME FOR A MONTH, WOOOOOO-

Anyway

AU: Symbiosis x Modern (not actually an AU of mine, just putting Symbiosis into a modern setting lol)

Context: Sabre and Orange decide to go to a nearby county fair to celebrate the start of fall.

—————————————————————————————————————

[3rd Person POV]

The two stepped past the ticket booth at the entrance, thanking the employee as they left. The cool fall air was a relief from the previous summer heat, and they look around excitedly at the booths and rides they pass by as they find a spot to talk and make a plan. While the stars aren't visible in the night sky, the multicolored lights of the fairgrounds look beautifully bright.

Sabre and Orange stop next to a bench, Orange looking at a small paper map he was given at the ticket booth.

"So do you have a plan for what we do first?" Sabre asks. "Because if not, I'm heading straight for the food stands."

"Of course you would." Orange says, jokingly rolling his eyes. "I don't even get why you like fair food so much."

"It's cheap, the serving sizes are ridiculous, and it's really good. Not even mentioning the variety that's around the fair-"

Sabre feels a familiar thrum inside, this time extremely excited and eager. He can practically hear Goblin telling him to hurry up and get going in his head, and he probably would if he actually had a voice. The intense, energetic anticipation coming from his other half makes Sabre shudder in excitement.

"Let me guess, Goblin's excited too?" Orange asks.

"Just as excited as I am." Sabre replies with a big smile, sharp teeth slightly visible. "I've been saving up for months just so I have enough to go to every single stand, maybe even go to some of them twice!"

"Okay, I get it. But before you get too excited..." Orange says. "Aren't you forgetting something?"

Sabre thinks for a moment, then his face immediately drops. He looks at his best friend with an expression of alarm.

"No."

"You have to!"

"Please no."

"C'mon, you lost the bet so you have to go on a ride with me! And you can't refuse the one I pick!"

"But I hate rides..." Sabre mumbles.

"Yeah, well you should have thought about that before you agreed to the bet." Orange gives a smug grin.

"It's not a rollercoaster, right?"

"Oh heck no! Those are too high. It's the UFO ride."

"The- no."

"Yep!"

"The one that spins you around so fast you stick to the wall?!"

"That's the one!"

"That's even worse!"

"Don't be such a baby, it's not that bad."

"You're not the one that has to deal with a ticked off Goblin after the ride."

He could already feel Goblin's grumpy mood, and they hadn't even gone near the ride yet. Orange grabs his friend by the sleeve and starts heading towards the attraction he was talking about, ignoring what Sabre said under his breath.

"You're going on this ride with me, just for one round, and then you can go ravage the fair's food supply."

"Uuuggggghh."

—————————————————————————————————————

Orange happily left the ride, practically skipping with a smile on his face, while Sabre followed dizzily behind him, clearly much less enthused by what he just went through. They stopped at an empty corner nearby.

"That was so much fun!" Orange says, still hopping in place for a moment.

"For you, maybe." Sabre groans, leaning against a nearby booth wall as he waited for his surroundings to stop spinning.

Goblin was already making his displeasure very known, emitting a growl-like hum. As usual, Sabre deciphered the tangle of emotions that he sent out. It wasn't really anything Sabre could verbally express.

Noticing his friend's annoyance, Orange laughs and gives a look of apology.

"Alright, you paid for the bet. Now go have fun." He says, smiling.

Immediately lightening up, Sabre stands up straight and quickly double checks that his wallet didn't fly out of his pocket during the ride. Thankfully, it didn't. With a big smile, he starts heading towards the first food stand he sees.

"Try not to make anyone's booth go out of stock." Orange teases.

"Pft, screw you." Sabre teases back.

"What the heck is that?"

"One of those weird experimental foods that people come up with for kicks. Wanna try?"

"No, that deep-fried abomination could probably make someone have a heart attack."

"Eh, maybe it'd do that. To a normal person."

"Oh my Origin you're actually gonna eat that, aren't you?"

"I've eaten worse."

"You sure?"

"Sabre, look what I just won!"

"Woah, one of the big prizes! What is that, a plush... ferret?"

"A weasel, and it's cute! I named it Gremlin."

"That sounds familiar."

"Because it looks like a cuter version of Goblin."

"Just so you know, Goblin's offended."

"Wait, didn't you just have three slices of pizza?"

"You know me, you know what happened to it."

"Ooh, Gerald would like this! I'm buying it."

"Since when does he like rubber ducks?"

"He likes putting them in his little splash pool. And look, this duck has a flower crown! He'd love it! It's a nice duck, isn't it?"

"I guess- Ooh, nachos. Be right back."

"Wait- Aaaand there he goes."

Orange sat on a bench, counting all of the prizes he won. He had gotten fairly good at the fair's games, even getting a few big ones. His favorite is a fairly high quality water gun he got after winning a target shooter, mostly because he could probably use it to deter Goblin from stealing his snacks.

Soon, Sabre approaches and sits down next to him, visibly content. He's holding a souvenir cup from one of the booths, and takes a sip before talking.

"Hey man. Guessing you had fun?" He chuckles.

"Hey buddy, and yep! Lots of fun." Orange smiles. "Can't wait to get all these home. How about you? Mission accomplished?"

"Yep! Got to visit every booth, and even got to go to some of them twice."

"Which was your favorite?"

"The pizza booth with the really big slices."

"The one you got, like, nine slices from?"

"Fourteen, and yep."

Orange laughs, Sabre doing the same. After a minute, they calm down and Orange starts gathering his stuff.

"Alright, let's go home. It's getting late."

"Eh, that's fair, I'm pretty tired from walking around the entire fair. Need any help with those?"

"You can just handle the shopping bag I can carry the rest."

"Alright."

The two collect their things and start walking, heading back towards the entrance they came in from.

"That was fun, I can't wait for next year!"

"Heh, me too."

"Y'know they're apparently adding one of those giant swing rides?"

"Oh no, I'm staying far away from that."

"Ha! Figured."
