Three days later, on September 26th, Jordan has gotten worse. He has bruise marks all over his body and is barely able to eat or keep the food down and falls asleep much easier and quicker.

Jordan and his family go to the hospital, and it is determined that he has leukemia. He is put into a hospital room, and William and Rachel bring all of his favorite things and set them up around the room.

The Peterson family is told about what is happening and they visit Jordan. Each of them stand at the doorway and talk to him. When Laura and the twins get to his room, Fontaine and Henry try to go over to him, but Laura tells them to stay with her.

Soon, the visit is over and the Peterson family goes home. Laura cries in her bed and wishes so badly that she could be near her boyfriend and that the kids could be near their father.

Fontaine comes in and climbs up on the bed. She sits down beside Laura and cuddles her.

Laura. Hey baby girl. What's up?

Fontaine. You didn't let us go over to daddy. Why not?

Henry comes in as well and sis next to his sister.

Laura. Because he has leukemia, which is a type of cancer. Also, daddy doesn't want us near him, because he doesn't want us getting sick. If we are close to him, then we could catch the virus. We may not get leukemia, but we would get very sick.

Henry. But grandpa and grandma are in the room with him.

Laura. Yes, but they keep their distance and wash their hands often.

Fontaine. What if we all do that and tell the doctor that we are healthy? Then we could be in the room with daddy, right?

Laura. Sorry, but his family is the only ones allowed in there. Normally, it's only supposed to be two people, but since Michelle is 7, she has to be with her parents.

Henry. Okay. I guess we can deal with seeing daddy from the door.

Laura. Alright. Now, get some sleep. It's past both of your bedtime.

Fontaine and Henry go to their rooms and get dressed into nightclothes and fall asleep under the covers of their beds.
