Your eyes widened before slacking in defeat.
"It was catchy,"
you admitted quietly,
eyes darting around.

"Your secret is safe with me."

You snorted out a laugh.
Leaning in with minty breath
that reminded me of
summer rain in a forest,
you whispered, "Thank you."

My toes curled and heat rose.
My stomach fluttered and Ethan,
everything felt deliciously sinful.
And just so right.

As hard as it was,
your eyes seemed to mirror mine.

'I love you' -
the words were dying to come out.

"Artis?"

The spell broke.
The moment ended.
We s t e p p e d back.

Reid looked at you with cold,
distasteful eyes.
