Chapter Twelve
Rosalie, Olivier, Prescott, and Astrid jumped into the limo. Olivier barked at the driver to drive to MUSC Health University Medical Center. Astrid groaned and gripped Prescott's hand as the contractions came and tried to remember her breathing. "I didn't think...." Astrid started, trying to breathe before letting out a painful moan, "that it'll hurt that much...."
"Well, it does," Rosalie told her, remembering her miscarriage and how much it hurt. "But instead, a full-grown baby is coming out of-"
"Don't you-ahhhhhhh!-dare finish that statement, Rosalie Jacqueline!" Astrid snarled at her friend, who just gave her a grin. "D-Did you call G and Rae?" she asked a moment later after calming down. "They can bring our things to the hospital, and we can all be there when the baby comes."
"I'll call them," Olivier volunteered, pulling out his cell phone and dialing the house.

"My schedule wouldn't allow it!" Jim Carrey pouted through the screen. Genevieve sighed as she curled up next to Raegan as they both ate the popcorn (turns out Rosalie went to BJs and brought a massive bag of SkinnyPop Aged Cheddar popcorn) and had glasses of water. Apparently, she realized that she missed things like this-sitting down, watching a movie with a bowl of popcorn and glasses of wine or whatever, and enjoying themselves. When was the last time they'd done that?
She couldn't remember.
Raegan looked over at his wife, seeing that contented smile on her face. He was happy that she was finally satisfied and not angry at him and screamed out that they were getting divorced. At least...she hoped she still wasn't thinking about divorce. Because he couldn't see himself with any other woman-Genevieve Ayers was the one. "Hey, G?" he started to say before the phone rang.
Groaning, he reached over and answered it. "Hello?"
"Astrid's having her baby right now, and we're heading to the hospital," Olivier said, making Raegan pause the movie.
"We'll be there right now." He said as he hung up and turned to Genevieve, who looked like she was about to kill him. "It's showtime."
That was the only thing he had to say as she turned off the movie, got up, and ran to get Astrid's bag without Raegan telling her that Astrid needed it. The men assumed the girls had some kind of radar or psychic link that told what the other needed. It both scared them and also awed them at the same time.
It took them a while to grab everything, get their shoes, and leave the house. Still, at least they finally reached the hospital, and Genevieve passed Prescott the bag while Astrid was screaming in pain. Rosalie and Olivier were sitting in the waiting room. One look at their clothes made a little pang go through Genevieve's chest as a reminder of the party. But she didn't get jealous this time as she sat down next to Rosalie. "How was the party?" she asked quietly.
"Lily didn't show up."
"You're kidding." Gen gasped, not believing it. "She didn't show up to her own gala? Damn. Was she there?"
"Oh yeah. Natalia set her straight, and she's going back to Texas, where she belongs."
"Good."
"Oh, and get this: Chrysèlie's married."
"No. To whom?"
"Cedric Chicoine. And she's pregnant. Again."
"By him?"
Rosalie nodded.
"Well damn. Lily didn't show up to her party, I missed possibly the best showdown ever, and the French bitch is married. Well, maybe next year when I'm not uninvited to parties." Genevieve mused with a smile. "But I think this tops the cake."
"How?" Raegan asked.
"Because we're going to be aunties and uncles to the best baby in the world," Rosalie answered with a smile.

At nearly three in the morning, Astrid and Prescott's daughter was born, and everyone came in to see the little bundle of joy. Though tired, Astrid smiled hugely at the small, wiggling bundle of joy in her arms- her little Christmas miracle, she called her. "Everyone," she announced, looking up from her baby. "I would like for y'all to meet Aspen Noelle Spencer."
Aspen wiggled in her mother's arms as everyone took a good look at her, and Prescott couldn't take his eyes off her little girl. "She's darling," Rosalie whispered, giving her a little wave. "You two did a good job."
"Thanks, Rosie," Prescott whispered, gently taking Aspen from his wife to look down at her. "She's..." he shook his head, trying to come up with a word to describe her. But none came to mind as he looked at her, smiling hugely and chuckling softly. "She's amazing. Both my girls are amazing." he leaned over and gave Astrid a kiss on the forehead. "Thank you, honey."
"Oh...Pres..." a soft smile came to Astrid's lips as the two looked at each other lovingly.
Genevieve looked at Astrid and Prescott, then down at little Aspen, who was still wigging and making baby noises in Prescott's arms. Genevieve never thought that she would see the day her best friends would have a baby, and yet here she was, in the hospital room, seeing a cute, wiggling baby in Astrid's arms. She wondered if she could have a child with Raegan after everything between them. She was getting kinda lonely in that huge house of hers, and the thought of having kids running around still scared the complete shit out of her.
"You okay?" Raegan asked, breaking her thoughts.
Not wanting to have the conversation in front of her friends, Genevieve told them softly that she and Raegan would be back. They walked out of the room and into the family room, where they could talk without being disturbed.
Raegan noticed how quiet Genevieve was when they left their friends to awe over the baby, and he was worried. "Talk to me," he said once they were alone, the only thing in the background was some late-night television show or something on CNN that didn't concern them at this point. "What's wrong?"
"Babies," Genevieve answered, dragging her hand down her face. "It's babies, Rae."
"What about them?"
"You said you wanted to have a child with me."
He nodded, letting her talk.
She took a deep breath before speaking. "You know I'm good with my cousins, even cute little Nissa when she was a baby. But having my own kid...dressing them up, taking cute photos of them every day to the point that they take over your Instagram and the rest of your social media...not missing a day of their lives, wondering what adventures they're going to get into today...that...that kinda scares me, and I kinda want that."
Raegan's eyes widened, wondering if he heard her right. "Excuse me?"
She lightly punched him in the arm. "You heard me. I kinda want that-the whole baby thing."
A smile broke out over his face when she said that. "I'm happy-"
"But," Genevieve cut him off, holding up a finger. "We're not gonna get started until the season is over." she gripped him by the shirt and yanked him down so he could be eye-level with her. "And if you cheat on me one more time, I will call for a divorce, Raegan Ayers."
A smirk tugged his lips at the threat as he pulled her into a searing kiss. "I swear on my dog's grave that I will not cheat on you ever again," he swore. "If I do, I'll become a monk."
That made Genevieve laugh as she kissed him.

Christmas Day
The house was finally decked out in Christmas lights and twinkling in the night, and the Darlington-Whit Winter Home was full of love and laughter as family and friends came to the house. Paisley and Mason were excited to open their Christmas presents, including Zacharie, who batted the green paper before Olivier helped him open his new toy, a teething giraffe. Astrid couldn't help but show off Aspen to everyone, and she was adored immediately.
Once the babies were packed and well fed, everyone gathered around the massive dinner table, which was set with a lot of food, cranberry sauce, and of course, Astrid's famous soufflé; everything was perfect, all the way down to the table, which has some fairy lights, candles, little nutcrackers, and the Holiday Dinner Plates from Lenox that Rosalie was glad that she kept in the cabinets.
"Well, this was a fun Christmas," Arthur said, scooting the chair back to stand up. "To my daughter, Rosie, thank you for making this Christmas spectacular. And Astrid-your baby girl is the most beautiful baby I've ever seen. Zacharie is also a delight as well-"
"Oh, come on, Arthur," Rosalie and Lorelei's grandmother, Leslie, huffed. "Just say the damned speech and move on."
Rosalie had to laugh when her father glared at Leslie before he finished. "Alright, mother, I will. I'm just glad that this was the most spectacular Christmas ever, and I give it all to my daughter, Rosalie. Hear Hear!" he called, raising his glass so everyone could clink their glasses and drink. Then Raegan picked up his fork and clinked on the glass, making everyone turn to look at him.
"I guess this is a good time as any," he said with a sigh, turning to Genevieve, almost giving her a look that asked for permission. When she nodded, he turned to everyone and gave them a little smile. "After the season's over, G and I are gonna work on a family," he announced.
Astrid and Rosalie gasped as they jumped out of their seats and hugged their tough friend. "What changed your mind?" Astrid asked once they broke the hug.
"Aspen," Genevieve answered with a chuckle. "Baby Aspen convinced me that I was ready to have a family. So be prepared for a bunch of updates, and yes, Atty, I will have the most fun Instagram feed ever. And Ro," she turned to Rosalie, who had tears in her eyes. "Better be prepared for a challenge because Zacharie isn't gonna be the cutest baby online anymore."
That made Rosalie laugh. "Bring it on, sister," she answered with a laugh, wiping away the tears. "That's gonna be a challenge for sure."
Everyone laughed as the girls hugged each other, and the Christmas dinner began with good food and family.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
THE END
