A few days passed by since Roman found out that the two of them were competing. The pair had run out of their first decorations they had bought, and were waiting just a few more days before going to get some more. However, not having decorations to put up hadn't stopped them from spending time together, and actually caused them to spend even more time getting to know each other. Putting up decorations didn't always involve the two of them talking.

The two were once again together at Logan's house. Logan had invited Virgil over again, and they both ended up making dinner together again. Virgil once more insisted on helping, and the two of them both talked as they worked.

"Y'know..." Virgil started, Logan glancing over at him and finding him still concentrated on chopping up the vegetables to put in with the rest of their food. "I honestly think I should have taken Patton's advice a lot sooner, and come to meet you. I mean, I haven't known you very long or anything but... You're a pretty cool dude, Logan."

"Thank you, Virgil." Logan sent a small smile in his direction, and Virgil returned it. "I also wish we had started talking sooner. We get along well, and are very similar in some ways. It is nice to spend time with you."

"I'm glad we're hanging out now," Virgil said, smile not leaving his face as he continued helping to make food. His smile was accompanied by a light blush across his cheeks, although he wasn't sure why. He had been the one to start giving out compliments, so he shouldn't be embarrassed when Logan simply said he felt the same. He pushed the thoughts from his mind for now, however, as they quickly finished preparing their food and sat at the table.

"I've had a few people come up to me to compliment our decorations." Logan mentioned. Things had been silent for a few minutes, and he wanted to continue talking. "Most of the neighborhood knows that Patton is letting us work together."

"That's cool," Virgil said despite feeling a little anxious over knowing that people had noticed him. Even if it was just his house, and the fact that he and Logan were helping each other. "I haven't had anyone come up to me, but I've seen them looking at our decorations."

"It's good that none of them seem to be upset at us working together. I think we have a pretty good chance at winning, with how many people seem to like the decorations." Logan smiled a little, glad to see they actually had a chance.

"Well, we still need to get the rest of our decorations up. We've got a lot more time before Christmas finally gets here, and Roman could still end up with better decorations than us." Virgil pointed out, immediately beating himself up. He didn't mean to be negative, and he hoped Logan wouldn't get annoyed. He knew that Patton didn't really like it when he drew attention to the bad rather than enjoying the good, but he couldn't help it sometimes.

"You have a good point." Logan's words stopped Virgil's anxious thoughts, surprising him. "That is why we are going to get more decorations as soon as we are both able to. So that we can keep working on it and improving. I am sure that we can win if we keep working on it."

Virgil smiled over at Logan, feeling better hearing his words. It was nice that he didn't dismiss his concerns, and he was right. If they kept working on it they could do a good job. They could actually even win.

It was early afternoon when Logan and Virgil pulled back into Logan's driveway in his car. They had finally gotten some more decorations, going this time specifically for bigger things that could draw more attention to their houses. It didn't take them too long to get their things out of the car, and they wasted no time in getting to work putting them up.

They stayed outside for a few hours, helping each other to put up the largest of their decorations. They had finished putting up another decoration when Virgil realized just how cold it was. He pulled his hoodie closer around him, hoping it would help but it didn't accomplish much.

"Hey Logan?" Virgil looked over at Logan, who turned back to him and hummed to tell him to go on. Virgil grinned, reaching out and placing his freezing cold hands on his neck. "Are my hands cold?"

Virgil flinched in surprise at just how loud the surprised shriek that left Logan was as he stumbled away from Virgil, grin only growing wider before he broke down, laughing loudly. Logan glared over at him for a moment but couldn't help his own grin forming, shaking his head at Virgil. "You-you could have just said you were cold!"

"Yeah, but that wouldn't have been nearly as fun." Virgil shrugged, still giggling quietly. Logan huffed.

"It is getting very cold out here," he said, feeling cold himself now that he wasn't so focused on decorating. "Perhaps we should head inside for a little while. To take a break and warm up a little."

"God, please," Virgil muttered, gesturing quickly for Logan to start moving inside. Logan did, leading Virgil into his house again. The change in temperature was noticeable almost immediately after crossing the threshold.

"I'm going to make myself a drink. Would you like some hot chocolate?" Logan offered, making his way into the kitchen. Virgil agreed, and Logan told him he should sit down on the couch while Logan made their drinks. Soon enough Logan joined him in sitting on the couch, finding that Virgil had made himself comfortable. He had grabbed the blanket Logan had placed on the back of the couch, and had wrapped it tightly around his shoulders. Logan smiled softly at him as he handed Virgil his mug. "I see you've made yourself comfortable."

"It's cold," Virgil mumbled, shrugging his shoulders. He felt nervous now that Logan had said something, worried he might seem rude but Logan didn't really seem to care. Virgil distracted himself by drinking his hot chocolate, hoping if his cheeks were as red as he thought they were that he could pretend it was from the cold.

"So, Virgil," Logan spoke up after a short bout of silence. "What are your Christmas plans?"

Virgil frowned, teeth tugging his bottom lip. He took a sip from his drink to delay answering, considering making up something. He couldn't think of anything fast enough. "I... nothing, really. I mean, I go to Patton's party he has for the whole competition voting thing, but that's really it."

"You don't spend time with family?" Logan questioned, only realizing he might be asking something too personal after the words had left his mouth.

"No, I uh..." Virgil shrugged, tapping his fingers against the side of his mug nervously. "I don't really get along with most of my family anymore."

"I'm sorry," Logan said quickly, but Virgil waved him off.

"It's fine. I mean, at least I've got Patton. He's a good friend, and he invites me to stuff. Who needs a bunch of unaccepting family anyways, when you've got at least one decent friend?" Virgil smiled a little, sighing. "I'm happier without them, honestly."

"If you would like," Logan spoke hesitantly. "After Patton's Christmas party, you could spend Christmas over here. If you don't have any other plans."

"Oh, you don't have to do that." Virgil shook his head. "I'm sure you have other plans, people to hang out with. I'm alright, really."

"No, I... well, I'm in a similar situation, actually. I don't have any plans other than going to Patton's party, so..." Logan paused, glancing away from Virgil. He wasn't really sure why saying this was making him feel nervous. "I believe it would be nice, to actually have some plans for once."

"Are you sure?" Virgil asked, still feeling unsure. "I mean... we haven't really known each other for that long. Wouldn't it make more sense to spend it with people you know a little better?"

"We haven't known each other for a long time, but that doesn't mean I don't consider you a good friend, Virgil. I enjoy your company, and I would be happy to spend Christmas spending time with you. Just, as long as you would also like to. If you do not, then that is alright with me."

"No, no, I... that sounds really nice." Virgil admitted, shrugging his shoulders and looking away from Logan to hide a small smile. "I'd love to come over for Christmas."

Logan smiled as well, Virgil still not facing him. They sat in comfortable silence for quite a while longer, and neither of them could contain their happiness. They wouldn't say it out loud, but they were both excited for Christmas to get there, and they were happy that they had met each other.
