What Is Hell?

There are two places according to the Bible that a person can go to when they die, either heaven or hell. Today, I would like to describe the purpose and atmosphere of one of these two places.

Hell is a temporary punishment for the dead people who died not accept Jesus Christ to forgive their sins, but instead died in their sins.

Now, it is true that punishment after death last for ever, but as said before, hell does not. I've have had it heard that hell is like jail and the lake of fire prison, one a temporary holding place. the other eternal. Either way, once a person enters hell, there is no more chance for redemption, forgiveness, or salvation. They are destined to stay there, be judged, and cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 20:14 - And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

The punishment of hell is said to be a place of torment and flames, where a person is thirsty and has no relief or mercy, because all chance for that is gone.

Luke 16:23-25 - And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

The Bible also says thought that hell will not be the same for everyone. A person that never heard about Jesus Christ but still did bad things will be punished very lightly, while a person who grew up Christian and deliberately decided that it was not true will be punished very harshly. A person who lives a life of obscene sin and never accepts Jesus, Jesus says will be punished less than a very righteous person who knows and rejects him.

Matthew 11:22-24 - But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

A land where strangers were raped regularly receive more mercy than people who tithed on their mint, because one would have repented and knew little, while one knew much and purposely refused it.
