Judgement Day

As Christians, we all believe that Jesus Christ physically rose from the dead. This is the foundation of our faith, that Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again the third day to both conquer death and to prove He was exactly who He claimed to be. It is important for us to understand that we as well though will also experience a physical resurrection.

After we die, most, if not all, Christians believe we will spend a time in heaven or hell. When the end of the world comes though, Jesus Christ shall return. When this happens, all Christians everywhere will be brought back to life. This is the resurrection we all shall undergo together.

After this resurrection, we live eternally, physically.

Jesus Christ was the first person to rise from the dead, partially to represent what we all shall one day do.

1 Corinthians 15:12 - Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

and

20 - But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

Romans 6:4 - Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Just as we will rise again to live forever though, the unsaved will rise again to be put to eternal damnation.

Now, when the Christians are risen again, they will not be judged the same way the unsaved will be. The unsaved will be judged by their works to see if they will be saved or not. Other religions are not wrong when they say we all will be judged by God to see if we can go to heaven or not. Where they are wrong is that they think they can somehow be good enough to be forgiven by God or earn His favor or mercy. We will be judged, but we also will all be condemned. This is called The Great White Throne Judgement by many Christians.

Revelation 20:11-15 - And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.  And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

That is for the unsaved. On the other hand, those that accepted Jesus Christ will not be judged for salvation. They also will be judged by works, but their judgment will be on if they will be rewarded by God or not in heaven.

1 Corinthians 3:10-15 - According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

So, the foundation is Jesus Christ. Everyone who is saved will have that foundation. Our works will be like what is built on the foundation. Our works are like gold, jewels, wood, hay, and stubble (or straw). They will be burned, and the good will be a reward and the bad a loss. In the end though, all the saved are saved, regardless of their works.

The Bible also speaks of crowns for the faithful.

1 Corinthians 9:25 - And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they [do it] to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

2 Timothy 4:8 - Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

James 1:12 - Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Revelation 2:10 -  Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast [some] of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Because of this, it is important we do our part in spreading the Gospel. The judgement of God is coming. We want to see as many people saved from the Great White Throne Judgement as possible. We want to see as many heavenly rewards as possible. Let us labor for God.

2 Corinthians 5:10 - For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Matthew 28:19 - Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
