Miracles

It had all started off as a normal day.

Joel had just gotten back from tour, and after a fun filled day of taking his family to a local amusement park, he and Moriah decided they needed some time alone together.
So the next day they dropped off their two daughters, Everly and Emilia , at the Dixon house, so they could play with their twins Riley and Ella, and so Joel and Moriah could spend the day together. They had a blast, eating at their favorite restaurant, going to the movies, and just talking to each other, without the kids around. Of course, they loved their girls, but to have some time with just the two of them was refreshing.
However, the day was interrupted when Joel got a call from Luke. Joel has managed to forget they were doing an interview with CJ and Joy today.
"I'm really sorry we can't continue our day, darling." Joel said. "It's alright, how about if I meet you at the studio when you are done? Then we can pick up the girls and go do something all together." Moriah replied. Joel smiled. "Sounds like a good plan to me."
So Joel went to the WayFm studios, and he and Luke talked about their newest album, tours, and their family.
"So Joel, you have two daughters, correct?" CJ asked. "Yes indeed, Everly and Emilia. They are 9 and 6." "Ahh, so they probably aren't going to be dating anytime soon." "Not if I can help it." "My daughters are starting to get into the dating scene, so it is definitely frightening. Would you consider yourself an overprotective dad?" Cj asked. "Well, protective, yes, but maybe not overprotective." Joel replied. Luke laughed. "Oh please, when Everly was 2, Joel had her move nursery rooms because she was becoming friendly with a little boy in her group." "That's not entirely true." Joel protested. "Oh please, you were so vocal about it." "Oh, like you couldn't say the same about yourself. How about the time you scared a 5 year old boy for holding hands with Charlotte?" Joel sassed back. "That was a different circumstance!" Luke defended himself.
The conversation continued until the end, and Joel and Luke thanked CJ and Joy for having them on the show. They then went outside. Luke left but Joel waited for Moriah. He texted to let her know he was done, but received no answer. Then, the phone rang, but it was not Moriah.
"Is this Joel Smallbone?"
The caller said.
"Um yes?"
"This is the Franklin Police Department. It appears your wife, Moriah Smallbone, was in a car wreck on 22 and Main Street. She is in critical condition, and is being sent to St. Anne's hospital now."
Joel froze. Moriah? Car wreck? Hospital? This...this couldn't be. He immediately jumped in the car and drove to the hospital. He ran into the hospital like a mad man. "My name is Joel Smallbone, my wife Moriah was in a crash and was admitted here?" "Ah, Yes, Mr. Smallbone, she is currently being worked on right now, so you can wait in the waiting room for now." The lady said.
While waiting, Joel called Luke and told him to pick up Everly and Emilia from Colton and Annie's place, and take them to his house so he could pick them up later. He was so nervous. He prayed that Moriah would be alright. He couldn't lose her. He just couldn't.
"Mr. Smallbone?" The doctor called out. Joel stood up.
"Your wife, she is in a coma, and honestly, we aren't sure  if she will recover or not." That was news Joel certainly did not want to hear. He collapsed on to his chair, shocked.

Weeks went by, Moriah did not wake up. Joel was not sure if he could handle it anymore. He just wanted his darling wife, the mother of his children, back to him. He couldn't raise Everly and Emilia on his own. He was already having struggles now, and that was with Luke and Courtney and the rest of his family helping. He didn't know what to do, he was losing hope. He started sobbing.
"Daddy?" A small voice said.
Joel turned to see Everly and Emilia in front of him, obviously concerned. "Oh, hello girls." Joel said wiping his tears. "It's ok to be sad dad. You don't have to put on a show for us. What's happening with mom, it's scary stuff. But we gotta have faith everything will be ok." Everly, the oldest, said. "Yeah! Jesus can do miracles daddy! He can help mommy!" The youngest, Emilia, said. "And even if...mom doesn't get better, Jesus will be with us, the whole time." Everly added. Joel smiles through his tears. He was so proud of his girls. The faith of children was truly something to admire. He engulfed his daughters in a tight hug.

Joel once again went back to the hospital to see Moriah. She laid perfectly still, the heart monitor slowly beeping. Joel looked at how beautiful she was. He fought to hold back the tears. That's when he felt a paper in his pocket. He opened it up to see a note his eldest had written.

"It's written on my soul, hope's what we crave." -Everly

Joel smiled, then kneels down at Moriah's bedside to pray.
"God, I surrender. Whatever you have plan, let it happen. Even if that means...Moriah leaving us, let it be. Whatever the case may be, please give me hope. Hope to overcome whatever may happen."

Joel finished praying, then got out to leave. As he was was about to leave, Joel heard a weak voice say "Joely?"
Joel turned to see brown eyes staring back at him.

"Moriah."
