I opened my eyes to complete darkness. I grabbed my phone to check the time.

2:57

I let out an annoyed sigh while flopping my hand (that was holding the phone,) onto the bed.

I've always been an early bird, but I would normally wake up around 5.

"Three hours to kill," I whispered to myself. "Three hours till my birthday."

For most people, their birthday is a day were they get breakfast in bed and getting up as early as you want for presents. That's not why I love my birthday. My birthday is a day were I'm not in the background. Were I get to spend quality time with the people I care about. That's why my birthday is special.

Sunlight flooded my room. I checked the time.

6:07

I forced myself out of bed. I was wearing my favorite and my most comfortable pajamas.

The bottoms were shorts. They were red and were decorated with 'The Flash' logo like small polka dots. The top was just a white tank top.

I turned on the light. I loved having the basement as my room. It was so big and... isolated. Not that I like being alone, I just like to have time to myself.

I traced a line on one of the light, almost white, gray walls with my finger as I walked to my bathroom.

I put some acne cream between my eyebrows, brushed my teeth, and braided my long blonde hair.

I looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes were so... unique. Their purple color reminded me of a field of lilacs.

I started to walk upstairs. I walked as quietly as I could so no one would no I'm there.

"Surprise!" I heard multiple people say.

I looked behind me to see my family.

My dad was holding a cake. It had white frosting with blue decorations. It had small frosting flowers outlining it. In the center it had 15 candles. After all, I was turning fifteen.

It had cursive writing in the middle.

6.4.2002

My birthday.

"Happy birthday Ryan!" My big brother Aaron said to me. His brown hair all messed up.

Let me make something clear. I am a girl. I know my name is Ryan and that is a guys name, but I'm still a girl. Back to the story.

My dad set the cake on the table.

"Cake or presents first?" My mom asked.

"Um... presents," I replied.

"Open this one first!" My little brother Kyle said pushing a present into my hand.

I unwrapped it to see a new pair of cheer shoes. My other pair was all worn from how much I practice.

"Thank you so much, Kyle!" I said.

He smiled as a response and he put his brown hair in a man bun.

Next I grabbed the present from my parents. I pulled the wrapping paper to reveal a shoebox. Inside, I  took out a black sweatshirt with white lettering that said 'Star Labs'.

"This is amazing!" I said.

"We know you'd like it," my mom said.

I grabbed the last present on the table. It was from my brother. The small box fit perfectly in my hand.

I tore away the wrapping paper to reveal a black box. I slowly opened the box to see a necklace.

It had a small, but beautiful jewel. It's purple color matched my eyes almost perfectly.

"I love it so much," I explained, holding it in my hand.

"Yah, when I saw it I knew you'd like it," he said while I put the necklace on.

"Time for cake!" Kyle blurted.

My dad got the cake out. He lit the candles and everyone sang happy birthday.

I blew out the candles and I made my wish.

Everyone enjoyed some cake.

Ding.

My phone went off.

I grabbed my phone. Cameron texted me. Just so you know, Cameron is my best friend.

Cameron: HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYAN!!!🎂🎁🎉🎊
Ryan(a.k.a. me): Thanks!
Cameron: So... when and where are we going to meet up so I can give you a present?
Ryan: What about your house @ 12:30?
Cameron: Sounds great! See you then!
Ryan: See ya!

I had a few hours to kill so I decided to watch  Sherlock on my laptop.

I knocked on Cameron's door. Someone slowly opened it.

"Ryan! Can I help you?" That person said. It was Cameron's mom.

"Cameron invited me to come over," I replied.

"Okay. I'll go get him," she responded.

Cameron came to the door.

"Come on in Ryan!" He said.

I walked in and we went to his room. He grabbed a wrapped box and we walked into his bonus room. We sat down on his extremely comfortable couch.

"Here you go," Cameron said handing me a present

I unwrapped it and opened the box. Inside was a white pull-over hoodie.

"This is amazing!" I said "Two sweatshirts in one birthday."

"I got you this one because it's white so you can wear it in the summer," he told me while I put it on. It almost completely covered my short shorts.

Ding!

"What is it?" Cameron asked. I picked up my phone to check.

"It's Kaitlyn," I responded. Kaitlyn is Cameron's and my other close friend, not best friend, but we are really close.

Kaitlyn: Happy birthday!
Kaitlyn: Can you hangout today? I got you a present.
Ryan: I think so. Let me check.

"She wondering if I can hangout," I said.

"She can come over," he responded.

"Okay."

Ryan: I'm at Cameron's house, but you can come over.
Kaitlyn: K. Be there is a sec.

"She's coming," I said.

"Okay."

About two minutes later, I saw Kaitlyn walk through the door.

"Happy birthday, Ryan!" She said throwing her arms around me.

"Thank you," I said as she started to pull away.

"Hi Cameron!" She said as they did their secret handshake.

"I have your present," she said digging into her sinch-sack.

She pulled out a (unwrapped) shoebox.

"Here you go," she said handing it to me.

I opened it to see a pair of black converse high tops.

"This is great! I love converse!" I told her.

"Come sit down," Cameron said. "What do you guys want to do?"

"We should watch a movie," I said.

"That sounds good," Kaitlyn responded.

"I'll go make popcorn," Cameron said.

He left the room. Kaitlyn and I thought about what to watch.

Soon, Cameron came back into the room with some buttered popcorn.

We decided to watch 'The Emperors New Grove' and 'Kronks New Grove' on Netflix.
