Electricity in the Air
Clarity's POV
Her eyes are open. She's alive. Cirrus is alive. But maybe not for long.
Opening her eyes saved her, though. That's also when I saw Luke wasn't pure demon. I know it because he hesitated. If he were a true demon, he would've decapitated her then & there. He's part human. That can be a blessing or a mortal flaw, having compassion. For Luke though I'm unsure of which it is.
Cirrus shakily gets up and puts a hand over her face to shield her from the sunlight. "Hello?" She says, unsure of what to do, "Is anyone there?"
That's when her vision adapts to the harsh light, because her eyes go wide when she sees Luke with a sword at her throat. Her clear blue eyes turn teary, and to my surprise she begins to cry. Water streams steadily down her face, now covered by her thin hands.
Luke loses it. The sword drops from his grip, and his eyes grow watery as well.
It's a touching moment, but leave it to the Demons to ruin it. "Yay!" Sophie cheers, fist in the air excitedly, "It's a dramatic moment!" Well saying that sure didn't help, I think to myself. But something seems off. Cirrus would never cry this easily. It's only Atlantis who would do that, but it's only because it's natural for her.
That's when it happens. The sky suddenly turns a stormy gray (FAIRYTAIL PUNS) and clouds begin swirling above us. She planned for this. Go Cirrus!
Luke looks up in time to see the first bolt strike. It comes to the ground at faster speeds than I can imagine, and hits him, igniting his entire body in light. I hear Sophie scream in the background, "TOO MUCH DRAMA!!!!!!!"
Now lightning is everywhere, raining from the sky like bullets. I leap out of the bench as one strikes it, and when I look back, it's nothing but ashes. I'm now covered in scratches and dirt, but hey, at least I'm alive!
I leap up and scour the land for the Electric Mage, but among the chaos she's invisible. Crap. I begin running, looking desperately through the lightning to find her. That's when I see her.
Luke is holding Cirrus by the collar of her shirt, lifting her well off the ground. He then looks at me with a creepy smile, and I know it's not him. He's possessed. His eyes also glow a creepy blue color, and his canine teeth are elongated.
He bends down and snatches up the Demonic sword, which is now glowing the same hue as his eyes. He then aims it at her stomach, and I know exactly what his intentions are. Cirrus is turned to me, her eyes wide, but not with fear. She mouths "Go", but that's not going to happen. Heck no. Instead I break into a dead sprint, the world blurring around me. Then when he's about to strike, I dive.
Time goes in slow motion as I leap in front of the sword. He brings the blade down, and I know it's all over for me. Whenever you're in a life-or-death situation, you expect to be scared. But the only feeling I found was white-hot determination.
Then the blade hit. I felt it slice my forehead, and blood spills into my eyes. But not before I see the sword enter her stomach. Blood splatters everywhere, and my vision turns red from my own.
She's gone. I didn't see her fall, but I know she did. No one can survive a stab like that. That's when I lose it.
Light explodes from my body, engulfing the entire landscape. I scream in fury and loss, wanting to murder every demon out there, no matter what the cost.
The blood in my eyes is blinding me, all I can see is dark red. I feel myself being picked off the ground, and I scream louder.
"Cirrus!" I wail, but she doesn't answer me.
------------------
I'm awake, but my vision is a cloudy red. I'm laying in my dorm bed, and Rin is looking at me worriedly.
Cirrus. I bolt out of bed, ignoring the pain and sprint into the other's dorm room. I slam the door open, and I see Evergreen & Flare's heads pop up.
"What the heck are you doing here?!?!" Flare shouts at me, stopping to glance at the clock, "It's five freaking thirty in the morning?!?!"
I ignore her and run to the couch, where Cirrus is sleeping, and my fears come to life. There is blood all over the couch, and on her. She isn't breathing. She's dead.
I sit on the floor next to the couch and let the tears roll down my cheeks. Dead. Evergreen is frantically creating healing plants while Flare is swearing and Atlantis(who randomly came in a few minutes ago) is calling the ambulance.
But it's too late. She's gone.
