"Yeah, I'm al-" As life would have it, as I spoke to reassure him of my well-being, a wave of pain overtook me, sending me to the floor and completely yanking that statement from any chance of being believed. The room was spinning. The man said something, but I couldn't make it out; it was like being underwater. I struggled to retain consciousness, one hand on my head as the other pushed against the floor. Instead of pushing myself to my feet, however, I wound up pushing myself over onto the tile floor of the kitchen.
I felt a hand on my arm, pulling me to my feet. I stumbled, falling sideways into a strong embrace. The man picked me up bridal style, cradleing my bleeding, throbbing head. He kept saying things I couldn't distiguish. But I did catch a few words. "OK..... Hospital... Miss.... Awake...." I found myself wondering what would happen to the other guy, the one who'd attacked me. I felt sleepy, and I just wanted to pass out. But every time my eyes would start to close I was yanked from slumber by a smack on my shoulder. "Let me sleep da**it. I'm tired." I said. But all that came out was "LemmslpdmitImterd." I hadn't realized we were moving until I found myself gently layed in what I believed to be the backseat of a car. Maybe I'll actually get to sleep now.... I thought. No such luck. As the man drove, he would reach back and smack my arm, yanking me back to the waking world. "Please... Miss.." I still couldn't understand what the h*** he was saying. All I could assume was that we were going to the hospital and he didn't want me to fall asleep. The world was so fuzzy. I closed my eyes, somehow expecting it to end differently this time. *Smack* "Miss!" I groaned, my eyes fluttering open.
It seemed like hours before the man stopped the car and got out. My hopes of finally getting to sleep with him being gone were quickly shattered when the back door opened. I was gently lifted out, the throbbing in my head now a familiar pulsation. Colors and bursts of light passed my vision, all blurring together into one messy sight. I heard the faint sound of sliding doors before my vision was flooded by a bright light. I squeezed my eyes shut, the pounding in my head suddenly much more intense. I vaguely felt the man shift me in his arms, and then the red light filtering through my eyelids became much fainter. I opened my eyes into slits, barely making out the shape of the man's face hovering over mine, blocking my eyes from the majority of the light. Under any other circumstances, I probably woul've thanked him, or even thought it cute. But at this current time, my mind was too foggy and my head too hurt-y (AN: IT'S A WORD. I MADE IT UP, I WOULD KNOW) to think much of anything.
I heard another voice, foggy and garbled. This new person was speaking rapidly, and the voice I now knew as the man's was replying just as fast. I was placed on something sturdy and soft. Almost immediatly, I found myself missing the firm, familiar feeling of the man's arms. This thing I was on wasn't warm, as he had been. It was cold and strange. I could only assume it was a gurney; we had to be at the hospital. That's where he'd said we were going, after all. Of course, I was still eager to fall asleep; but now, the doctors would pull me back to the land of the living. I just can't get a break can I...
