Chapter 3

Citrine stumbled out of the forest. The vast forest that surrounded Yggdrasil. This town was a large visitation site, mostly because of the enormous tree in the center of the town. The townsfolk took great pride in it.

Citrine walked throughout the town, admiring every little detail. Then, they started noticing the smaller things. In the windows of each home, there was a small little card.

They walked up to one to read it.

MottlePaw? Moe like MottlePAUSE! do not become another MottlePaw, do not break the LAW! If caught breaking the law 'i this area, thou shall brow sad issues!

The other cards read something similar, and each one had an image of a white cat with short fur. They seemed old, yet Citrine was glad this town also hated MottlePaw.

Citrine shook their head at the card and walked away. Their main goal was to get somewhere to rest, especially since there was a nasty snowstorm on its way.

They walked into a hotel of sorts. "Greetings! What may we help thou with today?" A cat asked. Citrine smiled, her fangs showing a small portion. "I want a room. Haven't thou known about the snowstorm going to join through? I hark 'tis going to get ill." Citrine stated.

The cat nodded. "Right this way."

Citrine dipped their head, placed their gold coins, and followed. "Your room." The cat announced. And in one swift movement, the cat was gone.

Citrine shrugged and entered their room. They looked around, and got comfortable, laying on the nest. It appeared to be well made, sheep's wool being used instead of leaves and twigs. It was nice.

They swiftly got up, and wandered around the hotel, eventually leaving to explore the town more. From Citrine's knowledge, MottlePaw broke a law and was never to be seen here since. They were quite curious to know, especially since the town was really open to hating MottlePaw.

=^-_._-^=

As the snowstorm came, it was time for it to go. The ground was covered in snow, to the point Citrine was unable to really go anywhere.

It was a nice thing, however Citrine only had so much money before they would run out.

Citrine took their leave and left the wonderful town of Yggdrasil. It was nice, but the rooms were too expensive.

The snow may have been deep, but Citrine would've rather treaded in that instead, and they guessed it wouldn't be long before the snow cut away.

Unfortunately, they were wrong.

The deep snow lasted for much longer than anticipated. Citrine walked through towns that were still covered in the snow.

It was like a nightmare.

It was freezing Citrine up to her shoulders. There wasn't much they could do about it either, only shiver, and stay a single night in the cheaper towns.

For all Citrine knew, this could keep going on until they finally reach Þör, which at the speed they were going at, could take weeks, or months, or maybe even years.

Years would be the least desirable outcome; to Citrine, it would be impossibly long. Who knows if they'd still be able to finish their task?

Luckily for Citrine, their travel was about to get so much easier.
