I really couldn't stay awake even if I did try so I ignored Johnny and drifted off to sleep.

I woke up from birds chirping outside. I groaned and my whole body was drowned in pain, well except for my lower back and down which I don't know why I couldn't feel pain but I was thankful for it.

The doctor walked in and looked over at me.

"You're up early." He smiled at me.

"Y-yeah." I tried to tell him how the birds work me up but I was out of energy just from saying yeah.

"So you have a few visitors down stairs but I have some news, not very good news I'm afraid."

I wanted to tell him to just spit it out but I wasn't feeling up to it.

"You've busted you're back you're never gonna walk again." He said hurriedly.

At this point I didn't care how drained I felt I was scared now.

"N-not even on crutches?!"

"No, I'm sorry...not even on crutches...but I'll send everyone who's here up." He said and left.

I wanted to cry so bad. Why me? Maybe I deserve it...I don't know but I don't wanna be in a wheel chair my whole life.

TwoBit and Johnny walked in the room.

"Hey Ponyboy." TwoBit greeted while Johnny stayed silent.

"Um here Pony...I got you another book." Johnny said handing me the book.

The cover read Gone With The Wind.

"Gee thanks Johnnycakes." I thanked him.

He nodded and stepped back.
