"If I die in combat zone!" The general shouts.

"Pack my bones and bring me home!" The rest of the troop continues.

"Pack my bones and bring me home!"

"IF I DIE IN COMBAT ZONE!" The troop shouts for one last time as they finish their last lap around the field.

I can see the whole training base from where I'm standing.

"Time to go to my bunker..." I whisper as I carry my duffel bag with me. As I walk, the rocks crunch underneath my combat boots.

I have been fighting for the country for a year and now I'm back from my one week break.

As I enter my bunker, I hear cheers and I see my troop welcoming me back.

"Bro, you're so lucky! You got to rest for one week!"
"Training was boring without you!"
"Finally! Someone who can help me with my pranks!!"

"Woah, guys!" I shout, amidst their cheers, "and ladies." I continue and the girls wave their hands at me. "What's with all the commotion? I mean...I just came from a break..."

"Dude!" my best friend, Nino, shouts. "You came back just in the right time! General Hugo will be announcing something tonight, and all of us are sure that it would be something very important."

"Something important?" I ask, "Like what?"

"That is something we are also curious about, Adrien." Rose, one of the female soldiers, says.

"We should just wait for the announcement once we all gather at the canteen." Nino announces and some go back to their bunk beds.

"Anyway," Nino starts once again, "you should see the new rifles and sniperscopes that the government provided."

"That would be a gorgeous sight to see, Nino." I say impressed, following Nino to the weapons bunker.

Once I arrive at the canteen, I see a lot of soldiers and also nurses roaming around and talking to each other.

"Hey Adrien!"

I turn my head to see some of the soldiers part of my troop waving their hands excitedly.

"Over here! We're here!!" They continue and I chuckle. Those crazy bastards.

"I'll be there in a sec!" I shout and just when I was passing by a table in the canteen, I hear a few ladies giggling and I turn my attention to them. They tried to act normal once I made eye contact with them. But after I cheekily winked at them, they started to swoon and squeal. I decided to leave them in that state.

That happens with every new nurse. They can't get enough of my looks.

"What took you so long?" Nino asks once I approach the table.

"Just playing with the new nurses...nothing out of the ordinary." I say nonchalantly.

"Dude, you should stop playing with their feelings! You break a lot of hearts every year!" he says jokingly and I laugh.

"I don't worry because I know that they would find the 'perfect' soldier of theirs." I inform him, sarcastically.

"What about you, Adrien? Any plans of finding the 'perfect' one here?" He mockingly asks.

"Oh, shut it." I scoff, "I doubt...I mean, being a lieutenant is time consuming and plus, I'm not in a hurry for that."

"Are you sure?" Nino asks with a foolish grin on his face. "Let's see if you'll get a girlfriend out of these new nurses."

"Like I told you a while ago, I doubt tha-" I get cut off when everyone, including Nino, immediately stand up and do a hand salute. I turn to my back and I see General Hugo standing in front of the crowd and I immediately stand up and do a hand salute, too.

General Hugo lowers his hand and everyone follows.

"You may take a seat, ladies and gentlemen." He announces and everyone immediately sits up straight and no one dares to say a word. We should always treat the general with utmost respect.

"Most of you have just arrived from their short break. It's nice to see you again." He starts, trying to make everyone get into the mood.

"Now, let's be serious." He says while bringing out a piece of paper from his pocket and unfolds it, "I received a letter from the government regarding a new project for the army. I've read the letter and I don't know if you all would agree with the implementation of this so-called 'switch' project."

He looks at all of us before he unfolds another piece of paper that he is holding. He grabs his reading glasses and scans the content written on the paper before speaking.

"I will be calling 20 pairs. One nurse practitioner and one soldier. Please stand once I call your name, and don't forget the person you are paired with. Let's start with Private Rose and Nurse Nathanael. Next we have..."

The list went on and on. All those who were standing looked anxious and nervous. I hope that I won't be called-

"Second Lieutenant, Agreste." General Hugo calls to my attention. I immediately stand upon hearing my name.

Oh, shoot!

"And Nurse Marinette." He continues and I see a woman with blue highlights on her black hair stand up timidly.

"Now, I have 20 pairs in front of me...the government wants to conduct an experiment to see if a person can be a soldier and a nurse at the same time."

Wait...so what is he trying to imply? Is he saying that we're going to-

"You're going to switch your position with your partner's position." General Hugo announces and that is when the whole canteen started to go crazy.

A lot of the lady nurses, who were picked, were crying out of shock. Soldiers of different positions were banging on the tables and saying words of such colorful vocabulary. Meanwhile, I was just left standing up and I was preoccupied with what was running in my mind.

I'm going to work as a nurse from now on....

What the heck, I'm going to be a nurse!

"Silence!" the general shouts and the noise dies down immediately. "I disagree with this as much as you!" he roars. "but...we can't do anything about it..."

I look at the girl who is going to take my place and she looks so scared right now. I have to talk to her later...

"The people who are allowed to ask questions about this project are those who were called to be part of the experiment. Approach me in my office with your partner and I will thoroughly explain the whole situation...enjoy your dinner." And with that, he leaves the canteen leaving all of us fazed. I sit on the bench, contemplating on what is really going on until I am disturbed by someone poking me.

"Excuse me," said a voice and I realized that it's the nurse I'm paired with.

"I think that we should go to General Hugo right now. I want to know every detail about this experiment and why he chose us." she said. I stand up and I grab her arm.

"You and me, both."
