Birthdays are incredibly special. The come once a year, so all the attention is on you. But for someone like Virgil, that is probably the worst thing in the entire world, along with crowds.

So, when he awoke to Roman and Patton screeching the dreaded birthday song, he was not a very happy camper.

"Oh my god, stop-" he groaned, grabbing his pillow and pressing it down on his ears im an attempt to block them out. The two only giggled and began dragging him out of bed.

"It's your special day, kiddo! We've got so much planned!" Patton exclaimed with a bright smile as he hugged his friend. "We're going to bake cookies, play piñata, ooh! Wel might even-"

He was cut off by a scream coming from another apartment.
"GET OUT! FIRE!" the person yelled, causing all three of them to freeze.

Roman reacted first, grabbing their hands and dragging them out into the hallway, his eyes widening as the fire alarm went off. People were running around, screaming, crying, some were even praying as they descended down the stairs. Patton was already sobbing out of fear as they held hands, determined not to get separated by the crowd.

Luckily, they managed to make it outside the apartment building without getting trampled on, but others weren't so lucky. It wasn't until he saw the smoke coming out the windows did Virgil realise something.

They had met Logan, the man living in the apartment next to them, when the elevator was out of service a few months ago. He had been devastated, as he needed it to get upstairs due to his wheelchair, which lead to
the three of them carrying him up.

Logan was still up there, and by the looks on his roommates faces, they knew it too.
