Chapter 5: Mr. Wonka's announcement
Erica's POV:
Charlie and I had left early the next morning for both work and school. As we were walking, we saw crowds of people gathering around the electric post, and it seems like a very important one. "Come on, Charlie. Let's have a look at what those people looking at." I told my cousin as I took his hand and squeezes ourselves among the crowd.
Finally, we've made it into the wide spacing that'll make sure we cantake a good look at it. We then saw a poster which was attached to the electric post. But it wasn't just any poster, it was an announcement poster from Mr. Willy Wonka! Now we know what have got everyone so engrossed in. Excited, Charlie and I started reading it.
Dear people of the world:
I, Willy Wonka, have decided to allow five children to visit my factory this year. These lucky five will be shown around personally by me and will learn all the secrets and the magic of my factory.

I look at my cousin with an ear-to-ear smile and same to him, having the same thing on our minds. 'Mr. Wonka will five children in his factory! Oh, that's great!'
After reading it, we both then withdrew ourselves from the crowd. I looked at my cousin with a glow revealing through my eyes. "Don't you worry, Charlie, I assure you that we can get one of those golden tickets." I said before wrapped my hands around his body and hugged him tightly. I would do anything just to get one of those tickets for his happiness.
"When?" Charlie asked, looking up at me. "You'll see, it will just come in surprise." I said, making him pout from disappointment. I just laugh at his reaction before wrapping my hands around his shoulder in protective wrap, just like a mother who wouldn't want her son to get way and get lost.
I just love my cousin so much and he loves me too. "Come on now, kiddo. Let's get going, see don't want to be late for school and work, now won't we?" I added with a wide smile. "Oh, alright." Charlie said before we started walking to our destinations. "But I think it would be nice if I get another bar for my birthday." He added.
I just smile at him. True, he told me he only gets one bar each year for his birthday for a present. But this year, I will assure him it'll be more than one bar. 'Don't worry Charlie, I will assure you that we can get one of those Golden Tickets. I won't let you down-- that I promise you. Dreams do come true, Charlie, even if it's impossible. But, if you truly believed in that specific dream, nothing's possible.' I assure him in my head while glancing down at him with full of gleaming hope.
After I took my cousin to school, I then went straight ahead to the ice cream parlor for work. I greeted my fellow workers once I'm inside of the shop and they did the same. Then I walked behind the counter and soon, Stuart opens the shop with matching smile at me which makes me smiles too. I just love seeing people smile, it makes me smile too.
"Had you heard about Mr. Wonka's announcement?" Jennifer Brown asks later that day. Her grey orbs gleaming from excitement. "About those five Golden Tickets?" I asked even though I already know the answer to her question. "Yes, that's the one." I smile at her and nodded. "Well, I did alright." I answered as I gave the customer's vanilla ice cream with strawberry sauce on top and with two smallest slices of strawberry shortcake on the side and two vanilla wafer sticks on the other side of the ice cream cup, as the customer thanked me and pay for it.
"And I'm sure that those shops which sell Wonka bars all over the world are fully loaded." I added, "Definitely." Jennifer said in agreement, "Sure those shops will be making a lot of money for sure." "Agreed!" "And I am planning to buy my cousin one of those Wonka bars-- hoping to find one. I would do anything I can just for his sake of meeting his idol-- our idol. Even if I give up everything for it, even myself if that what will take me just to get one." I said imagining it, dreaming, my cousin meeting Mr. Wonka, but snap back into reality at once. "Well, of course, when I already have my employment. I just hope that it'll reach on time. So for now, all I have to do is just wait patiently." I added as I pressed the ice cream machine to make another ice cream.
"Don't lose hope. And I know, and I am sure that one of those glorious tickets are possibly destined to be with your beloved cousin's hands. Trust me." She reassured me with a hopeful smile, making me turn and smiled warmly at her. "Thank you, Jenny." I warmly said. "Don't mention it, I am just telling the truth." Thanks God for a friend like Jennifer who definitely understands what I am feeling. Oh bless her and her family.
I left work and began to wonder town, thinking about Mr. Wonka's announcement. I just hope I'll get one of the golden tickets for my cousin, but how far will I'll go? When am I getting one of those tickets for Charlie. Soon enough, I began to sing as music from the radio from the shops began to play,
Erica:
I've been standing at the amazing factory
Long as I can remember
I knew the reason why
I wish I could know that it's like inside
But I knew I can't
No matter how hard I try
Every turn I take
Every trail I track
Every path I make
Every road leads back to the place I know
Where I cannot go
Where I long to be
See the line where the sky meets the land
It calls me
No one knows how far it goes
If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me
One day I'll know
If I go there's just no telling how far I'll go
I know everybody on this town
Seems so happy on this town
Everything is by design
I know everybody on this town
Has a role on this town
So maybe I can roll with mine
I can lead with pride
I can make us strong
I'll be satisfied if I play along
But the voice inside sings a different song
What is wrong with me
See the light as it shines on the sea
It's blinding
But no one knows how deep it goes
And it seems like it's calling out to me
So come find me
And let me know
What's beyond that line
Will I cross that line
See the line where the sky meets the land
It calls me
And no one knows how far it goes
If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me
One day I'll know
How far I'll go
After I finished singing, I arrived to Charlie's school and took him home. After Charlie and I got home, we'd told everyone about Mr. Wonka's announcement immediately. "Wouldn't it be something, Charlie, to open a bar of candy and find a golden ticket inside." Said Grandpa Joe with a wide delightful smile. "I know." Said Charlie. "But I only get one bar a year for my birthday." "Well, it's your birthday next week." Aunt Bucket said as she mops the floor.
"You have as much as anybody does." Said Grandma Josephine. "That's so true, grandma. He really does." I said, smiling at Charlie who smiles back. "Eh, balderdash. The kids who are going to find the golden tickets are the ones who can afford to buy candy bars every day. Our Charlie gets only one a year. He doesn't have a chance." Grandpa George taunted making Charlie sighs hopelessly.
"Remember this Charlie, everyone has a chance." I softly said while grasping his shoulders, giving him more hope. "Especially to those who kindly deserve it." I added making him smile from hope. "Thanks." Charlie said to me before giving me a hug as they watch us in awe. "Mark my words, the kid who finds the first ticket will be fat, fat, fat." Grandpa George interposed. I think there's a possibility about it. I know Grandpa George, he's not going to say it if it wasn't true.
