Chapter 12: Introductions
Erica's POV:
We followed Mr. Wonka inside the factory as we pass through the curtains and obviously still burning mechanical puppets. "Don't you want to know our names?" Fat boy called out as he struggled to keep up. "Can't imagine how it would matter. Come quickly there's far too much to see." Mr. Wonka reapplied.
Then the door shut close behind us and Mr. Wonka leads us into a large hall with a long red carpet in the center of the floor. "Just drop your coats anywhere." He said taking off his coat and tossed it on the floor along with his goggles. I took off my vest and scarf, and hang them on the post and rope barrier on top of my cousin's. "Mr. Wonka, it sure is toasty in here." Mr. Teavee slipping off his coat.
"What?" Mr. Wonka replied as he turns to face Mr. Teavee. "Oh, yes, I have to keep it warm in here because my workers are used to an extremely hit climate. They just can't stand the cold." He glanced at me and smiled which I gladly returned. "Who are the workers?" Charlie asked curiously asked. "All in good times." Said Mr. Wonka mysteriously and then turned, "Now!" He added as he started leading the way. When suddenly, Violet hugged Mr. Wonka who gasps in surprise and disgust, guess he doesn't like being touched.
Violet unlatched herself from him, much to his relief. "Mr. Wonka, I'm Violet Beauregarde." She introduced herself while chewing a piece of gum awfully loud. "Oh.." He said distasteful, "I don't care." He started walking and we followed him. "Well, you should care, because I'm the girl who's going to win the special prize at the end." Said Violet in confidence. "Well" you do seem confident, and confidence is key." He replied, probably trying to stop the conversation, and I don't blame him because she's chewing gum.
Mr. Wonka barely took another step before Veruca in front of him, stopping him dead in his tracks and giving him a little fright. "I'm Veruca Salt." She introduced herself. "It's very nice to meet you, sir." Before she did a small curtsy, no doubt trying to be Mr. Wonka's favorite. What a spoiled brat.
"I always thought a veruca was a type of wart that got on the bottom of your foot." Said Mr. Wonka and laughed at the end as she glared at him. I put my left hand on top of Charlie's shoulder while my right hand is holding my hips as I bend down my body and lowered my head a bit and laugh silently while trying my best from being heard. I knew verruca was a type of skin disease.
But before Mr. Wonka go and lead us, Augustus Bloop stepped in the way as he ate his candy bar in front of him, blocking Veruca's view. "I'm Augustus Gloop. I love your chocolate." The boy proclaimed with a huge piece of chocolate in his mouth... ew. "I can see that." Mr. Wonka said in bit repulsive tome. "And so do I! I never expected we'd have so much in common."
And before he took another step, he turned on his heel, looking at Mike. "You... you're Mike Teavee. You're the little devil who cracked the system." He said it in full dislike before looking at my cousin. "And you-- you're just lucky to be here, aren't you?" Then he looks at their mums and dads. "And all of you must be their pa-" Mr. Wonka seems choking or something. He can't get the word 'parents' out making us frown. "Parents." Mr. Salt finished for him.
"Yeah. Mums and dads." Mr. Wonka said, but he suddenly spaced out and went into a regressive state. "Dad... Papa..." I guess he had a bad childhood. In just split-seconds, he finally snapped out of it and darted his gaze at me but quickly shifted to my cousin. "What a lovely son you have here." "Oh, no, sir." I giggled as my face started to turn red. "I'm not his mother. I'm his cousin."
Willy Wonka's POV:
After I snapped out of my thought about my father, I accidentally darted my gaze at the girl who I am in love with making me distracted, so I shifted my gaze to her son. "What a lovely son you have here." I said instead.
"Oh, no, sir." She giggled as a blush of red started dusting around her entire face. "I'm not his mother. I'm his cousin." A gleam of hope suddenly started to show through my eyes as I look at her. She doesn't know how glad I am for it. I still got a chance, but I want her to like me and get to know me first before I court her, and for me to get to know her. I shook all those thoughts away and smiled at her in my sweetest and charming smile. "My apology, Ms. umm..."
"Ms. Erica Carson, sir." She finished for me. What a beautiful name. "And it's all right, sir. We all make wrong thoughts and mistakes." She finished with the most beautiful smile making me feel the butterfly thrusting against the pit of my stomach again. I can feel the heat right now, which I have no idea if that heat was coming to either my body from being so in love or inside this toasty room here. I shook it off before I get into a distracted state completely
"Thank you for accepting my apology, Eri-Ms. Carson." I said wanting to just call her by her first name but I suddenly thought that it wouldn't be courteous of me for she is a woman. Then I looked all of them, "Okay, then. Let's move along!" I can't wait to impress her by my factory candies, chocolates, and inventions.
Eric's POV:
I just can't help but smile as we follow Mr. Wonka though the hallway. He is funny and amusing. And he seems like a gentleman because when he was about to call me on my first name, he immediately changes it and addresses me by my last name which had given me more warmth and respect from him.
I heard Mr. Teavee ask Mr. Salt, "Is it just me, or does Wonka seem a few quarters short of a buck?" Mr. Salt then stated, "I'm sorry, I don't speak American." I somehow fought the urge to give them both a disapproving look. I watched as Charlie walked in front of me, Augustus walked beside Charlie, "Would you like some chocolate?" He asked Charlie. "Sure." Charlie smiled at him. "Then you should have brought some." He replied nastily, taking a huge bite of his chocolate in front of Charlie in a way to taunt him.
Hey! That was mean, rude and selfish! Then I thought 'Okay, it's pay back time, you little fat lump.' So I walked closer to Charlie, sticking my black boot cover leg slightly out, so no one would see apart from Charlie. I tripped Augustus, he fell face first to the ground, letting out a cry. "Oh Augustus my child are you alright? You always trip over your feet." Ms. Gloop said fussing over her son. "I'm fine mummy." He whined like a baby.
Charlie and I stood away from the group, giggling quietly. I heard another laugh coming in the room, I looked up to see Mr. Wonka with a smile on his lips, he winked at me, causing me to blush bright red, I guess he saw what I had done. As we continued walking, I noticed that the ceiling is getting smaller and smaller making it a tight squeeze, we finally came to a stop. "An important room this. After all, It is a chocolate factory." Said Mr. Wonka. "Then why is the door so small?" Mike asked rudely and in boredom.
Mr. Wonka looked at the boy and answered, "That's to keep all the great big chocolaty flavor inside." Giving a little giggle, he bent over to unlock the tiny door at the bottom, straighting up he paused for a second, trying to create a dramatic moment. 'Ha! He's a man, but a kid at heart.' Mr. Wonka looked at us all, smiling then pushed the doors opened to reveal the most magnificent sight ever.
