Late Morning

Will dazedly looked up at the ceiling, lazing about as his phone buzzed on his bare chest. The vibrations settling in his chest as he blinked back into reality. Coming back to now.

"Shit-" He muttered. Picking up the phone, his snooze button looking even more appealing to press the fourth time. But he had to go to school. He was in no mood to stay home all day, just as much as he didn't want to be at school either. Neither place felt... Right. He knew he was going to rush to school anyways rather than find something else to do since he remembered that staying home wasn't an option for him. His stepbrother was coming home in a few hours, and he wasn't in the mood to see that asshole. So he heaved himself out of bed with what he was sure was enough time for a quick shower.

He nearly tripped over the tons of movies he and Victor had poured over yesterday, trying to entertain themselves lazily until they both passed out against each other in the middle of The Breakfast Club. And from then, he had no motivation to pick them back up, even after he dropped the other boy off back home. But despite the obstacle, he managed to stumble towards his shower. Stripping off his pajama pants (the only thing he was wearing because comfort) and climbing into the shower, not bothering to turn on a light as he was not in the mood to be blinded by fluorescents. Quietly he cursed the time it took for the icy water to heat up to the roaring boil he liked. But the chill woke his body up from its sluggish pace. And it pushed him to finish in no more than 10 short minutes, the pattering of water the only thing audible in the empty house. Something he thinks he'd grown to hate.

As he dried his wet curls, he couldn't help the sinking feeling he felt when he caught his own dark eyes in the mirror. What will happen? What will happen... What will happen today?

A shiver wracked up his spine at the thought. He didn't like it. He didn't like it at all.

His phone buzzed. A message he was sure. He swiped his phone from the counter, wrapping the towel low on his hips as he rushed to see who it was. Relief passing his features when he saw it was only Kurt. Asking if he could pick him up a coffee before classes. Knowing that even if it made him late, Will was going to buy a cup of it for himself before he even touched the grounds of the school. He was a boy addicted to caffeine.

"Oh, fuck-" He realized he was going to be late if he kept screwing around, and he rushed to dress himself as simply as he could. His normal, "nerdware", as he knew Jamie liked to call it. A white button-up and his favorite green sweater to slip over it. The collar popping over the top, his messy hair dried and curly, and his status as dork firmly in place. The only thing that might make him look any nerdier might be a pair of glasses over his eyes, but the look suited him well. Made teachers trust him a lot more, and adults in general too, let's face it, he was a good student at the end of the day, even his disruptions and jokes are seen. He was just... A little more mischievous at times than people notice at first glance. His peers knew it quite well.

He rushed out the door. Saying goodbye to no one in the empty house (out of habit) and trying to remember if he threw his house keys into his backpack. Tossing said item into his red beetle as he yanked that door open too. The only thing he kept in hand being his car keys. The little clown head keychain hanging off of it since Alice got it for him for his birthday last year. A joke from her, knowing it would freak him out, but he kept it on there nonetheless because he was no coward.

He looked at the watch he took from his dad's collection (because c'mon, permission would've most definitely been denied if he asked) and internally panicked. He only had maybe 30 minutes left to hit the coffee joint and make it to class on time. And the churning nerves in his stomach didn't help. But he needed to hurry. Not in the mood to get his chewed out by the step monster for being tardy.

He sped through the quiet streets, not really comforted by the faint, but definitely present, rattling noise his car started to make halfway through. But those nerves were just going to have to be pushed down too. He didn't have time for that sort of bs. He had to get a mocha latte and an iced black coffee.

Will's phone gave a patient buzz in his pocket as soon as he pulled up to the small nook of a Starbucks their town barely became interesting enough to get last fall. As he strode inside he picked it up from his back pocket. Pushing through the doors as his brows raised, his jaw-dropping slightly at the message he received from Jamie.

-turns out the school shut down, some freak came in and tried to eat that one kid who's always in trouble!

-and Kurt told me you were getting coffee. can you bring me a caramel frap pleeeeeaaaseeee

-like, almost everyone is waiting out here, the principal just now announced this. I could have slept through this shit

He read over the messages for a bit. The lady at the front giving him a disinterested glare before asking if he wanted anything. Snapping him out of his thoughts as he belted out the three drinks. Getting a few cake pops too, seeing to harm in it. Paying silently and leaving as he drove to the school. No longer rushing as he tried to make sense of everything. Wasn't today going to be the second day?

He went and parked in one of the student parking spaces. People chatting by their cars and some already going back home to catch some extra z's before their sleepiness dissipated. Already seeing quite a few of his friends chatting by the front. Finally letting his eyes land on Kurt and Jamie, knowing that they both stayed because they most likely drove here themselves.

The air felt stiff as he strode across the lawn to go over to their sides. Nearly tripping over a skateboard some asshole left in the higher grass. Though luckily, he managed to save the coffee despite the struggle. Meeting up with a giggling Jamie and a flat out laughing Kurt, both witnesses he wasn't sure why he got them drinks for.

"Hey, you're like 15 minutes late Will. I didn't pay for this shitty service." Kurt started as he tapped at his watch, getting a glare and a cup shoved into his hand.

"You didn't pay at all, asshole. Drink your mocha." He huffed. Handing Jamie his drink as he actually tried to stifle his laughter.

"Thanks, Will, I owe you!" He sipped on his drink excitedly.  Kurt grinning cheekily as he sipped on his own. All of their attention snapping to a few people yelling to clear the premises. Why is it that there can't be a normal day in this town?

"Fuck." Kurt said simply.

"I guess we gotta make like a banana and-"

"If you finish that stupid joke I am going to pour this coffee down your pants." His friend warned. But it only made the other boy grin.

"split."

"Oh god." Jamie groaned. Though his smile peeked through it as Kurt pinched the bridge of his nose. "Your jokes get worse and worse..."

"Pleaseeee, you love 'em." He laughed. "Now let's get out of here. You both need to tell me what the hell happened."

"Let's stop by the diner, might as well get breakfast while we chat about someone else almost dying..." Kurt muttered into his coffee, Will stiffened.

"I'll go... But honestly... I think I lost my appetite."
