It was the day before Christmas Eve, Billy and Barney were on the last day of their holiday all the way up in the north pole. They were out skiing but neither of them was very good at it, so it was bound to happen that one of them would fall over and that is what happened to Barney, so as he did fall over, he began to roll forward down the hill and as he did fall down the hill the snow began to stick to him turning Barney into a giant snowball.

The snowball kept getting bigger and bigger until it crashed into a tree breaking all the snow away from Barney, leaving Barney to see stars before a headache set in. In the north pole, because of all the snow, there are no ambulances so instead of an ambulance being dispatched to help out an accident, Santa's sleigh goes out instead, with Rudolf's red nose shining bright and then dull and then bright again like if it is the flashing light of an ambulance.

As the sleigh arrived, neither Billy nor Barney could see anyone inside the sleigh, but they could hear voices. Barney thought the voices were there because of his accident and that they might not be real, but they are real.

The sleigh door opened, and some elves got out. That was why neither Billy nor Barney could see anyone inside the sleigh, but were able to hear voices, the elves were too small to be able to see over the side of the sleigh. Patch is the name of the elf in charge; he went over to check on Barney.

There was a bump on Barney's head so Patch took out a tiny little hammer and knocked the bump back into Barney's head but the bump just came up on another part of Barney's head so Patch knocked that bump back into Barney's head too but the first bump came back up again.

'Oh, this is not good' said Patch, 'this is no good at all, we're gonna have to bring him back to the grotto.'

Things were not great back at the grotto either, Santa had a really bad cold and he has had it for a couple of days too so everything was behind schedule, if it stayed like this then Santa would not be ready in time for Christmas. Mrs Clause was now looking after both Santa and Barney. Billy didn't want to sit around and do nothing so he asked Patch if he could help, maybe with Billy's help and if everyone worked really hard, then maybe things might just be ready in time for Christmas.

The next day was Christmas eve, and it was beginning to get dark and both Santa and Barney were feeling much better, and the elves with Billy's help had just finished getting everything ready but Santa was still late. He was behind schedule and he should have left before it got dark so he could deliver presents to all of the boys and girls of the world.

Billy and Barney wanted to help so they did by travelling with Santa and helping him get to deliver all the presents to where they were supposed to go. The sleigh took off and both Billy and Barney were amazed by all of the magic they seen.

The next morning Billy and Barney awoke in their own beds, they both thought that they had been dreaming until they opened a card which read '... to Billy and Barney, thank you for all your help, you guys helped to save Christmas ...' signed Santa, 'P.S, I hope the bump on Barneys head is doing OK', signed Patch.

Barney reached for his head. It was and is perfectly fine. Billy and Barney knew now for sure that they had not been dreaming.
